PSA: Zone of the Enders HD patch out in Europe. [Up: Now up in the US]

I feel weird being quite possibly the only person in the world who liked ZOE1.

True story, but when I was picking up my PS2 for the first time, I bought it along with Armored Core 2 and ZOE1. The FuncoLand clerk explicitly warned me that it did not come with the MGS2 demo disk. I still wanted the game anyway and the clerk looked at me like I was crazy.

It was a really awesome game back then, but ZOE2 just made it obsolete in almost every way possible.

I hate violence.

* violently stabs to death 1000s of robots

Well, at least they were unmaned! And at least every boss save one conveniently escaped after their respective battles, never to be seen again.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
Holy crap...I totally forgot the game even came out. I was hanging out with a buddy of mine the other day (a fellow GAFer) and brought up the question if ZOE HD ever came out. Hahaha. At least now I get to enjoy it with a fresh patch.

It's interesting but definitely half baked.

Also fuck Leo.

I believe he was ok. Yes, he was a whiny b*itch, but I usually prefer "unwilling" characters that later become badasses, to "natural" badasses like Dingo.

Leo cried and bitched all the time, but in the first ZOE I loved how his defense of human life gradually changed ADA's mechanic point of view. ZOE2's ADA is definitely not the same as ZOE's ADA. Dingo contributed NOTHING to ADA's development, they barely even talked.

If ZOE3 is made someday, I would love if Jehuty is given back to Leo. He has proven to be quite a renewed character in ZOE2, and I've always felt like Jehuty truly belongs to Leo, and he and ADA make perfect partners.

Anyone know if they'll release this set on disc with the patch already installed on it in the US?

I paid good money for this Dynex!

That's because talking to computers is for losers. Dingo was all up in that Ken chick, and for that, I applaud him.

Beat ZOE2. Man, both games are pretty short. Had a few issues still with the camera and lock-on mechanic.

However, it was a fine action game. It feels so much smoother to play compared to ZOE1 and some of the fights were really entertaining (ex.
the train battle and the fight in the dark boss
). The presentation, the music, everything about the sequel was better than the first. I love that metal gear type of art style so much.

Wish I had played it on PS2. I now join the rest of GAF awaiting a ZOE 3 someday. Goddamn the sequel was a huge upgrade.

Something most people don't know about Anubis: Dingo can respond to anything people say during the game by pressing R3 or L3 for a positive or negative reaction. For ADA specifically, this can actually change her attitude and responses as the game progresses. If Dingo gets too positive/negative about his chances ADA will eventually start to berate him (ex. ADA: "large enemy force incoming." Dingo: "I'll destroy them all in 5 seconds!" ADA:"I highly doubt that." or something along those lines, it's been a while since I've played)

Zone of the Enders is the best mecha game period.

I love ZoE 1. I remember beating it and after seeing the ending, I immediately bought part 2 (that was last 2003).

Playing ZoE2 makes me experience gaming heaven.

Played through ZOE1 today and it was tolerable technically, constant framerate drops but the game is very simple so it wasn't too big of a deal.

The writing is so bad in that game, I love it! Alot of people will probably hate ZOE1 but I think it's a cool little game that sets the scene nicely for the main event.

ZOE2 is absolutely glorious though, runs super smooth and has fantastic image quality. The cinematography in the cutscenes is just outstanding and the mech designs are some of my favorite ever.

The fight against Anubis early on where he warps around with all the red particles, god damn! A sequel on PS4 could be mindblowing but with the way things are going these days the chances of that happening are next to zero.

It's a real shame, this kind of game just isn't viable anymore it seems. Oh well, glad to see the game done justice atleast with this version. One of the best HD ports out there for sure!

I don't remember ZOE 1 being that short, I just crushed it in 2.5 hours on normal haha.

I missed one sub weapon but I can't remember which one since I even got bounder.

Yeah 2 is fun. Still a bit confused over melee hit priority.

Struggling a bit against that transforming mecha on mars.

Been a while since I've had to dodge bullet patterns lol.

I wish I could remap controls. Put block on L1 instead of switch sub. :/

I was waiting for this patch to arrive before I bought it, but I have a small problem. I have 40 in my PSN wallet and was going to wait for Dragons Crown. Is the PSN version patched also, or not?

edit: USA account.

I am quite a bit further in ZoE2 now, probably at about 80% and there was really no slowdown whatsoever. The whole damn thing seems to run perfect, there are some slight instances where the action will slow down but nothing major. This one beats Ps2.

Dodge when hes in plane mode, then, he will do a ripple followed by 3 lasers. After those 3 lasers you can burst shot his ass every time and he won't dodge it. He will close in and in close range he's rather weak to grab but you can also parry him I think.

Yep that was it!

Man I decided I was hardcore so I started up ZOE2 on hard and the vic viper is kicking my ass haha.

Just beat it on Hard and It's definitely challenging, the LEV assault near the end was insane, got a C rank with only 1 LEV left lol!

My favorite HD version of a game easily, felt absolutely flawless. Framerate is better than on PS2 and the final battle looked next-gen with the amount of shit going on.

ZOE2 is a masterpiece.

Is for the EU

Good thing EU PSN version got the patch, at least we know the patch will also be available for the digital version. The weird thing is konami releasing the patch in the US only for the disc release. A guy from the ps eu community forum also confirmed that there's still no patch for the disc version in Australia.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Thread made me go out and buy it! H-h-hyped!

Started playing ZoE 1 today. First Kojima game ever. He really likes cutscenes doesn't he?

it's a shame that they barely classified as 'cutscenes' in the first game. Was pretty much just 'codecs'. The cg models of the characters were ghastly lol.

2nd game is crazy good controlling. Wish there were more enemy types though... all ive seen new were the variable fighters.

Just did some sort of civilian defend mission similiar to the first game... gonna call it tonight. play more later.

Dingo is way better than leo lol. Liking the whole megaman way of killing dudes for sub weapons.

I just realized that pretty sure over 80% of the R2 button presses on my ps3 controller were for this game :X

How does the uzi weapon thing work on xbox? That doesn't have pressure sensitive buttons.

So let me ask this. If Hexadrive did the patch what was this shit Kojima was talking about halting the new ZoE project because that team was going to patch the collection? While I know it was likely a small team working on concept and preproduction stuff. I doubt that it seriously took all of them to supervise a patch for one game. Much less stop them from doing anything else.

Is there going to be a re-print of the HD collection with this new patch in the west? Or should I just hunt down the cheapest copy i can find?

Seeing the game in this perfect state made them realize they could probably never top it so they decided to just pack it up and go home.

Man, I forgot how great ZoE's ending is. "This is what I live for. This is the purpose of living for those who have no life."

Also: gatdamn this train mission in ZoE2 is frustrating. If I try and rush through it I die from careless mistakes, and if I try to play it safe I run out of time.
