GB/GBC/GBA Collecting Thread

Some pictures of the GBA SP 101 I picked up off of Craigslist.

The screen is gorgeous. I think I appreciate the bigger size of the handheld over the Micro, both in terms of screen and playability. It doesn't cramp my hands like the Micro does.

No headphone jack is a big negative for me.

Hey guys, I've been a longtime creeper of this thread, and I share the Game Boy love that you all do. Unfortunately, I've decided I have to sell off my GBA collection, so I've listed the games on eBay. I thought I would let you guys know in case I have something you are looking for! Maybe my liquidation has something you're after... almost all of my games are complete, and I keep them in very good condition. Let me know if you want to see any more pics or anything. Cheers!

Gunstar Super Heroes (complete)
Final Fantasy V (complete)
Super Mario Advance 2 (complete)
Pokemon Ruby (complete)
Mega Man Zero (complete)
Final Fantasy VI (complete)
Yoshi's Island (complete, Player's Choice)
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga (complete)
Legend of Zelda Minish Cap (complete)
Metroid Zero Mission (complete)
Pokemon Leafgreen (complete)
Metroid Fusion (cart only)
Mario Golf Advance Tour (cart only)
Golden Sun (cart only)
Advance Wars (cart only)

Oh, and if anyone is into DS games, I will be listing my DS collection shortly as well.

PS: I don't post that often, so if this is considered advertising or something that is frowned upon, can someone let me know, and I'll take it down. I legitimately thought you guys would want to have a look at what I've got for sale.

Oh shit, forgot the SP played GB / GBC games. Will be on the lookout for a SP 101 system now.

On another note, what do you guys think about changing the thread title to GB/GBC/GBA/DS Collecting Thread?

Make it a general Nintendo handhelds collection thread, where we can discuss DS games as well.
I can say, from personal experience, that DS games are actually more difficult to find and are more expensive than GBA games.

And it seems like DS discussion would me on topic. Many of these series bleed over onto the DS, and we all enjoy handhelds so the base would be there.

That is exactly why I've been looking for one. I have a Super Gameboy, but the SP 101 is the definitive way to play GB and GBC games.

Seems that way. And here I was about to buy Zelda DX and the Oracle games on 3DS VC with the bonus $30 from the FE x SMT offer, when I have mint physical copies that I haven´t played since 2001.

Why not both?

Nintendo Handhelds | GB/GBC/GBA/DS Collection Thread

I would say be careful of splitting the community and getting overwhelmed with 3DS discussion.

I actually picked Link's Awakening DX for the Club Nintendo award just because everything else seemed unappealing.

Maybe I should trade it for something better.

then how about
Classic Nintendo Handhelds | GB/GBC/GBA/NDS

What the heck happened between Dual Strike and Days of Ruin?
lol execs think Americans like dark and gritty games so when they decided to create a Western-oriented AW title they made it all grimdark. Days of Ruin is the only game in the Famicom Wars series not released in Japan.

That would kind of eliminate the theme of Game Boy for the thread. If anything, NDS discussion should be lumped into the 3DS thread.

Why not just make a DS thread? Every console has its own thread. It's not like the most insane handheld ever doesn't deserve its own.

Did Intelligent Systems even do this game?

I would argue that it wouldn't eliminate the theme of a gameboy thread.

fans of those consoles are not mutually exclusive, they can enjoy both.
And the same series that we discuss here continued onto the DS.

I posted it a page back, but I just got my order in from estarland.com and I am quite impressed with how they do bussiness.

I ordered last Wednesday, shipped on Friday, and got in yesterday. Everything was individually packaged, verified that it worked, and in great condition.

They still have a Buy 2 Get 1 sale going on right now, and I would thoroughly recommend them.

http://www.estarland.com/index.asp?page=SummerSale13

They have classic games, as well as newer games. I ended up with The World Ends With You, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, and Vanquish. All for $35, or about $12 per game.

My daughter will be three soon, and I want for her to grow up playing games with actual buttons (fuck smart phone touch screen gaming,) and have decided to get her an original GBA with backlight mod.

What GB/GBC/GBA games would be suitable for her? I'll let her try my copies of the Super Mario games, and other platformers, but I'm looking for something easier or educational for her.

Just came home from the local FYE that re-opened the other day. They had a small selection of new, sealed video games from years ago. First thing that caught my eye was a sealed Donkey Kong Country 2 for GBA and then a sealed Mega Man Battle Network 4 Blue Moon. Near the bottom they had a GBA SP "Gamer Value Pack" which included 2 games (namco museum and pirates of the caribbean) and a GBA SP Pearl Blue.

a quick look on price charting says the GBA SP is big bucks. i'd be looking to move these pieces as I don't have a lot of interest in a gba SP nor the games.

There is an adapter that plugs into the charging port in the back.

Oh, I agree, it's completely ridiculous. I was just thinking if it bothered you that much it could be remedied.

A quick search on eBay shows they can be found for less than $8.

I think most of those are Chinese knock offs.

Comparatively, that is how much I usually spend on a GBA game.

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
Will ask here first before putting them on eBay:

Anyone interested in buying Shantae (GBC) or Jack Bros (VB)? PM me if interested.

The Light of El Cantare
Picked this up yesterday:

The box and inserts are so crisp. I've been after a CIB copy forever and my local vintage store actually got one in. Needless to say, I was really excited.

This makes CIB GBA game #105 for me.

Do you have pictures of your entire collection? I love seeing that stuff.

How much should I expect to pay for a GBA SP 101? I found one for $50, but the exterior is pretty scratched up. Worth it?

Yeah, wow- it goes for even more than I thought it did now...holy shit.

You guys should have made me an offer before I checked eBay today, lol.

lol, I expected to to check after I sent the offer.

That's really high. I have seen them locally for $30 tops, but I guess it all depends how common they are around you.

I've got an itch to get carts of Advance Wars 1+2....might have to scrounge the B/S/T thread. PM me if anyone knows where I can get the both of them, cart only is fine if they're in good condition.

Thanks! I'll keep looking. Wasn't too interested in it as the exterior was in pretty bad shape, but I wanted to know if I wasn't skipping the bargain of the century.

I got two great looking AG101s at my swap meet last month for $15 each. I talked the guy down to $25 for both. I would sell you one but I gave the spare to a friend.

That being said, anything around $30 is probably a good price if the screen is good and the body is mostly fine.

Yup 30 is about the most I'd pay for one. Unless it's like one of those NES models, then I might pay a little more.

Hello Gameboy-Gaf!

I just got a gameboy micro and I was wondering what games you recommend?

So far I have:

-F Zero GP Legend
-Warioware Inc. Mega Microgames
-Sonic Advance 3
-Wario Land 4
-Advance Wars
-Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
-Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories
-Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
-The Simpsons Road Rage

I'm really open to anything. I'm trying to decide between Metroid Fusion and Golden Sun right now lol.

I think every GB collection deserves at least one Pokemon game, so I'd go with either FireRed/LeafGreen or Emerald.

You should get both of those but start with Fusion I guess.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (probably the best game on the system)

One of the Castlevanias, preferrably Double Pack or Aira of Sorrow. But Circle is also great and easy to find at $5.

Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (my favorite game)
