Damn, I was busting woolyninja times at Mikey Hooks, but then he upped his game and the new times are hard to beat :/ I'll come at you soon, man! ;)

If you love strategy wargames, then ill add my mark of approval to Battle of the Bulge from Shenandoah Studios. Downloaded on a whim yesterday and its a cracking game. A tenner may be a bit much for some, but the bags under my eyes tell me it was worth it.

Only on the first 2 worlds though, haven't had time to go back and get better times in the others yet.

Edit: Ok, now 4 worlds

Played PvZ 2 for a couple of hours. Had to activate a power for 1000 Coins (about 55 cents via inApp purchase) because I was not able to master a certain level. A few minutes later the game crashed, Coins were gone, level was still unbeaten. Just wow, EA.

Wow man that sucks

I've been playing a bit here and there since the launch is aus and have collected 23,000 coins. They build up quickly unless they changed the drop rate for the worldwide release (I haven't noticed a change though)

But yeah losing Progress you used IAPs to achieve is just crappy.

Got a free game to recommend:

Turret Tilt

It's a fun challenging arcade shooter with a large number of upgradeable weapons and mix of tilt and touch controls. You can easily play this game with one hand. And while there is IAP, it's absolutely unnecessary

Fight the swarm! Turret Tilt is an action arcade shooter where you control a turret that's combating a constant onslaught of incoming enemies. Unlock weapons, upgrade items and see how long you can endure!

Nice, been wanting to play this for a while

About how long is it?

It's on the short side... Could finish it in maybe 15 minutes if you know exactly what to do.

Or more like a couple/few/10 hours in reality?

Edit: That is harsh. It is a game well worth playing, and was mindblowing back in 91. Finished it on Amiga, SNES and Genesis.

Have you signed in to each of the Apple IDs on the computer and authorized it? Once you have done that once you can simply swap over to the other regional stores in the iTunes Store without signing out (click the flag and pick the appropriate store), and once the store is cached you can update any region's app by just clicking Update.

YEA~...

What's the catch?

I guess no catch.
It's the epilogue of the original game that will bridge us to The Room 2, out later this year (hopefully) and almost certain a paid app.

As long as it gives me the same fun and polish of the original chapters, I won't mind :)

It does?

I started the game up on iPad last night after having played on my phone all day, and it put me back to square one. Maybe I need to quit/restart the program since it had to do the initial content download?

Ya just checked and my game did transfer between my iphone and iPad.

Ideal, I wanted another physical ranged class. Can't wait for this xpac, nearly completed the Skaven campaign and nearly got all heroes to 6.

There's going to be a sequel presumably before the end of the year and this is supposed to bridge the two, not sure there's a catch.

Sure, if its good its cool, but I am now always cautious around the word "free", unless its followed by a "one time purchase" option.

yeap I did. they were all previously authorized not sure what's wrong here :/

I just tried doing what you've advised but when I click Update... they will ask me to logon another account :/

You are invested, if companies go out of business they don't make games. I love the good old days too, but every game I love is made by a company that no longer exists. There are plenty of great games being made with no issues. If you have to think of casual and f2p as subsidising other titles..

I said financially invested for a reason. The thing about iOS more than any other platform in history is that if a developer you like dies, there's ten thousand more ready to release exactly the same kind of content.

Obviously there's a few companies I'd be sad to see go, but they aren't the ones making identikit freemium games and physics puzzlers.

Which mode?
Which party/notable skills?
Found some unique loot?
I've left just the last 2 Skaven quests (the fantastic ones :)) and the two black dungeons in hardcore....I'm just too scared to face those yet...and everytime I feel I'm ready (objects and all) I find a new interesting white quest loot-wise (and risk dying) while moving from a settlement to another to buy potions and scrolls.
I must say that, for the final AppStore version, the hardcore mode is really an order of magnitude better, I'm having much more fun playing it if possible, and you really appreciate the depth of the 'simple' WHQ system.
Difficulty is finally just right (white quests scaled to level 6 characters are sometimes pure madness) and the loot is muuuuch better with more unique objects and unique (named) bosses.
IMHO it's what the adventurer mode should have been just without permadeath (hardcore now it's slightly easier than the beta adventurer original mode)....it was an error IMHO 'dumbing down' the game (I wonder what the easy mode is like).

A week or two ago, I posted about the game I'm beta testing: Project Joan. Well, on Toucharcade, the developer posted some new info, including screenshots and new weapons. That can be read here.

In that post, he asked, "Please tell us what weapons with which effects would you love to see implemented in our game"

To get an idea, here are some of the guns that are being worked on:
1) Lightsaber (will let deflect bullets, projectiles)
2) Chainsaw (upgrade throws circular saw blades)
3) Microwave gun (upgrade lets fry bigger and wider area)
4) Electrocute gun (powered with shock bomb after an upgrade)
5) Imp gun (pulls souls out of bodies)
6) Satanic run (creates a local singularity that sucks nearby enemies in)
7) Sonic blast cannon (upgrade is area of effect)
8) Acid thrower gun (melts enemies like in Predator series movies)
9) Monomolecular lash (cuts into pieces, upgrade also adds net)

These were my suggestions:
  • Swarm cannon - unleashes a nanobot swarm that devours enemies, alt fire could convert devoured enemies to health (amount of health depends on how many enemies devoured). Or instead of having a shield gun, the swarm alt fire would act as a shield
  • Power gauntlets (armored gloves) - one punch obliterate enemies, alt fire could be a shockwave clap that causes enemies' heads to explode or maybe could temporary disable traps (saw blades stop spinning, lasers turn off, etc.)
  • Hammer melee weapon - alt fire could be a ground slam that stuns on-screen enemies
  • Orbital laser - disintegrates enemies to a skeleton, then to ash.
  • Flame thrower
  • Shield gun like from the game Fuse - could catch bullets, alt fire would shoot caught bullets back
  • Harpoon gun or crossbow, not sure what the alt fire would be. Maybe the bolts/harpoons could explode
Do you have any cool guns or weapon ideas you'd like to see in the game?

I really want to like Plants vs Zombies 2 but there is so much push to IAPs it feels dirty, I often mis-press and bring up a screen to buy stuff IN GAME and half the time my touches on the left side don't recognise.

I'd pay quite a bit for a version with all the IAP stuff stripped out, just left to ingame currency. Feels like they balanced the game towards being assisted with IAP, even the early levels feel ridiculously difficult, no way a casual player would get to the end of Egypt.

I have to disagree. My five year old got through it easily and is now in the wild west.

I also got all the stars and didn't spend a cent. It is really well balanced (save a couple of bullshit levels like cannons away where you can't even spend money). Keep at it and unlock more plants if you are having trouble. You can return to earlier levels with better abilities and battle them again.

I'm really enjoying PvZ 2 so far. Feels a lot like the first, but better actually. I recently replayed PvZ in the past year, so it's fairly fresh in my memory, and this one is just much more fun. Still at the beginning, but I enjoy seeing the corny jokes (the whole plot being about going back in time so crazy dave can re-eat a delicious taco), the "camel flage" zombies carrying boards, and the boomerang plant is great. Putting the plant food on wall nuts and seeing them put on a permanent suit of armor is great, and I like the plant food mechanic in general as well, seeing a hundred boomerangs or a lettuce plant bomb a lane full of lettuce. I also like the map structure a lot, and the mini-games seem to be in there and fun. Just did the memory game one, which was unexpected and nice.

So yeah, I feel like I robbed them getting it for free. It's also slightly harder than PvZ 1, but no where near Kingdom Rush hard... though maybe PvZ 2 gets harder later on - even so, I very much doubt I'd ever exhaust the 10,000s of coins I'll have accumulated for free at that point.

(Sorry, Flunkie!)

I'm really enjoying PvZ2 as well. Great review of it Minsc, I feel the same about it. I went in with very low expectations but found out I got a pretty nice game for free. I'm really enjoying the increased difficulty and level restrictions to earn stars.

I would have gladly paid for this game.

You're wrong about this. The IAP in this game is purely optional. I made it through most if the game without using any IAP so far. The game is a challenge, it required you to completly rethink your strategy every level. I dare say it's pretty brilliant. Bonk Choy is the best character ever.

Not actually that important
Goddamn Tiny Thief is really really good. Do we know if they'll add any new levels?

Yeah, it really is a gem, so well crafted and polished! Knowing Rovio, which is publishing the game under the Rovio Stars label, I think it's fair to expect at least one meaty update coming at one point or another,
