Dualshock 4 vs Xbox One Controller comparison video

I like the bigger triggers on the Xbone controller. I'm also glad that they added weight to the PS4 controller, the PS3 controller was too light.

get some go again
the new dualshock looks really good. still i hope madcatz improves on their fight pads for next gen because that is what i'll likely be using.

Now this is the video I wanted to see.

Nice to see that both controllers look really solid. Prefer the analog stick placement for Xbox though.

I will be much more happy if sony controller improves for my tastes.
microsoft controller was alright before for me.

I'm somewhat worried about the new dualshock. I seem to love everything people hated about the DS3. I love how light it is. I love how lose the triggers and sticks are. I love how much smaller and compact it is, compared to the Xbox controller. And that seems to be the exact four things the the DS4 is doing different.

I use my DS3 way more than my xbox controller. So when ever I play for long stretches of time with the xbox controller, my fingers get really tired, from pushing the sticks around, and especially from holding down the trigger.

It's nice that at the very least in this upcoming gen every system will have great controllers without any major, glaring flaws.

Very happy with the new Dualshock and this is coming from a guy who adores the DS3. Not a fan of the shape of X1's pad, seems a little too big and the rumble in the triggers sound like they'd put me off or be uncomfortable after a while.

"the sticks feel stiffer"

fuck.

Uh, this is a very good thing. Ds3's sticks are way, way too loose and looser than virtually every other controller out there.

I know some people are very, very use to dualshock sticks, but believe me, once you spend like...a day adjusting it is objectively much better.

A lot of outlets have been saying there's less resistance in the Xbone controller's triggers, and this one actually says "there's hardly any resistance". Why would they change that? Those triggers have to spring back immediately when I let them go, that's why the PS3's triggers are so awful.

Funny, this vid said that the xb1 controller has reduced weight while another video I watched two days ago said it was noticeably heavier.

What's up with these controller videos and the incredibly thick English accents?

Most "real" English accents are more distinct than the generic accents you often hear on TV.

Uh, okay, i've been using a 360 pad for longer than a DS3 and honestly have to sway toward the lighter resistance. Just preference.

I also don't get what good weight does in a game controller. Shame i don't have an original sixaxis.

I disagree.
I don't flick the sticks when i play, and i'm used to a high sensitivity (7-10 on COD). I think it's weird that so many people don't use the full analogue range. Less initial tension on the sticks makes slight adjustments much easier and it's less prone to overshooting your target. I'm having a much harder time aiming with the 360 pad because of that.
I also hate any amount of nonlinear acceleration when controlling a camera.

I feel exactly the same, my friend. I tremble in both excitement and fear when I see these videos.

But I will never know, unless I try it.

I agree with you too! Just today I was playing Max Payne 3 on PS3, and I found myself irritated at how far I had to move the stick just to incite a response from my crosshair. And because I had to move the stick further, the crosshair moved faster than I had intended, and I probably missed or something. And now the sticks are stiffer. Gee whiz...

It might be the larger deadzones on the 360 sticks than on the DS3

The Xbox One controller should be about $20 cheaper. The dual shock 4 has more features (built in battery, six axis gyro, capcitive touchpad, speaker, headphone jack) that justify the $60 price tag. And, after watching the Playroom demo I would put the light bar's ability to track the controller in the there as well. At its core the Xbox One controller is basically a Xbox 360 controller with some little rumble motors in the trigger. Not worth the asking price to me.

Both look great and much improved over last gen. I like the Xbox One controller more personally. Can't go wrong with either. Anyone thinking one sucks in comparison to the other is blind.

They both look great, I prefer the smaller PS4 controler and I really dont like you have to put batteries in the xbone controller for this gen as well - can it charge rechargeable batteries in there when connected via a cable to the xbone ?

It'll charge a Microsoft branded Play & Charge battery through USB, but I doubt it'd do anything for rechargeable AAs (the P&C battery is a lithium-ion thing).

I agree with you on the price, but the XB1 controller seems to be $10-$20 cheaper in Australia at least from what I can tell. Plus I wouldn't downplay the impulse triggers. Yes, they're basically rumble motors in the triggers, but it's supposed to be pretty good and I doubt it's easy engineering rumble into what are apparently very light triggers. That may not be important to everyone, but I can't wait to try it and I will probably favour it over the touch pad, although I'm sure that will have some interesting gameplay and UI navigation uses and I'm keen to try that too.

Have we had any impressions of the ps4 controllers analogues yet? I'd like to move my primary console from xbox to ps4 next gen but hate the ps3's analogues, compared to the 360's hey just feel too loose and inaccurate. Anyone heard anything?

I think it was in the video that they are stiffer. ..is this a joke post?

"[...] and we'll have a full review of everything Xbox One and PS3 related as soon as we can."

PS3? Really? I can do that on my own right now, thank you very much.

Sorry, no it's not. I heard them mention they were looser but I'd like to hear a direct comparison of how they feel compared to current gen controllers. Nothing I've heard yet had put my mind to rest as to how comfortable I'd feel using them.

Don't forget there is a second set of motors in the triggers and the pad has built in 5.1 audio for higher def headsets. Those probably explain its price tag.

I can already tell the rumbling triggers would just make my fingers numb. I really hate that.

Hardly any resistance doesn't sound good to me at all. 360 triggers are perfect.

Doesn't kinect have the ability to track the xbox one controllers too? I think they ouput IR light so you can't see it but kinect can. and as kinect knows who you are (assuming you're signed in) it knows who holds which controller - whereas DS4 can only tell where the controller is physically located (and even then you need the PS eye for that)

Have they shown ANY use whatsoever of that touchpad on the DS4? Is this going to be another Sixaxis, altho this time the useless feature takes up physical space on the controller?

Xbox new rumble sounds pretty darn cool, really really hope the PS4 lightbar can at least be dimmed / adjusted. Don't want to have to cover it with duct tape because it's too reflective.

(I sit 7' from my 65" TV, directly in front of it)
