IMO, a remake of ruby and sapphire, using the very same X and Y engine on wii U would be a terrific game for the consoles line up.

They probably wouldn't do that because they would make less money and I don't think they would want to use RSE if they did decide to go for a Wii U title.
It's more of a conceptual problem rather than a "Oh it has been for so long". Pokémon is an extremely social game. The developers design it as a game to take with you. While most people here don't bother with that, I can assure you that is why a massive portion of the fanbase like it. Go anywhere in Japan and you'll find people who play it. Go to a Pokémon Center and there are hundreds of people there.
For as long as GameFreak is running the franchise, and that is for the rest of the franchise's life, it will not happen.

Tekken style with Fighting-type only seems really odd and not a great fit for Pokemon. I would much rather see something incorporating a wide variety of types and body forms and have a more Naruto Ninja Storm style system with free movement and lots of special moves shooting everywhere. Punch-kick combos in pokemon? zzz...

Dudes, "ken" means "fist" in Japanese. This trademark doesn't necessarily mean it's a crossover, even if it does suggest it's a fighting game.

I don't want to get too hype and invested in the possibility but something I've wanted since I first played Pokémon is hard not to get excited about.

I know you mean well bro, you always do. But unlike tretta 3DS I think people can get at least a little hyped for this. But as always people should at least be prepared for disappointment.
the trademark is in US and without Tekken involvement that name doesn't mean anything to an american consumer

Come on you know full well that there never will be a main series Pokémon game for the home console.
Why people don't accept this is beyond me.
So you want Game Freak to take the X and Y engine and use it to make a Ruby and Sapphire remake for the Wii U?
If Game Freak does do a Hoenn remake it will be for the 3DS and not for the Wii U.

I wonder if this game would have a KoF-type system, where you choose 3 or 6 Pokemon and swap to the next fighter on K.O. Or if it might just be like Tag 2, with you being able to tag out Pokemon at will.
Or maybe some crazy mix of both systems.
