PS4 launching in 32 countries in 2013 (complete list, including XB1)

Japan to Sony:

"We just really don't give a crap about consoles anymore, please allow all the other countries in the world a better chance at getting one, becuase we honestly don't give a shit. We've got Vita and mobiles, it's cool, really. Thanks for thinking of us, and we'll catch you in 2014, maybe? "

Well there's still TGS for a potential surprise japan launch date, but you'd think they'd at least confirm 2013 if it was going to be 2013.

Sony just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert)...

---------------------

I guess we'll see more about plans for Japan in TGS.

Has the PS4 had any kind of official Japanese presence at all? I know they have the website, but so far they've only translated the International materials for their Japanese audience, haven't they? I wonder if they have anything big in store for TGS.

Too bad the PS4 isn't going to be out in Japan this year most likely. None of the games shown thus far have been interesting to me, so I was hoping maybe there would be some cool Japanese titles out this year.

Lol, this made me chuckle. You drop that nugget and don't elaborate one bit. Most "experts" would at least like to explain their point of view to prove they are an "expert" or at least share some of their knowledge in a subject to others that are not "experts"

Looking at the announced launch games, PS4 would sell well at launch and then fight for irrelevancy with the WiiU a month later. There's absolutely nothing in the launch list that caters to the JP audience.

It does give Nintendo some room to try to fix the WiiU over there though.

This doesn't surprised me at all if PS4 will not launch this year. They are a handheld country after all. I guess they don't want to end up like the WiiU and want to plan thoroughly of what they should be doing.

Sony dun goofed. If the One launches before the PS4, they can kiss a good deal of that momentum goodbye.

Well, here's the complete list of countries that will be getting some new hardware this year- 32 for PS4, and 13 for XB1.

Xbox One/PS4 2013 Launch Countries (13)

United States
Canada
Mexico
Brazil
Australia
New Zealand
United Kingdom
France
Germany
Spain
Italy
Ireland
Austria

Additional PS4 2013 Launch Countries (19)

Belgium
Denmark
Finland
Luxembourg
Netherlands
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Russia
Sweden
Switzerland
Argentina
Chile
Colombia
Costa Rica
El Salvador
Guatemala
Panama
Peru

Um, yeah, good luck with that, especially when the PS4 has a lower price tag than Xbone.

I lived to see the day Brazil turned into a first tier country. No more Master Systems or crazy Mega-drive editions!

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Having to wait 2 weeks just because I live in Europe is infuriating.

What not even Rime?

There's more variety and quantity of games coming in the launch window than any home console in history surely. But yes, maybe lacking in Jap-centric games. Wait for TGS.

Sony's being cunning here.

MS says they will launch across 13 countries some time in November.

Sony sets two dates in November, will have the PS4 in 32 countries by the last day of November.

Sony haven't mentioned Asia / Africa / MiddleEast yet!

to general public, the way i see it. a system that is sold out everywhere kinda creates the feeling its the HOT system that everyone wants.

it seems the PS4 will be not be hard to find in Dec. i don't think the same will be said for Xbox one.

sure the PS4 will outsell more Xbox one this holiday. but MS or even fanboys can spin this to " the system is sold out everywhere and its impossible to find one aka Wii when it was released" and say the PS4 isnt selling well since you can just go to the store and pick one up"

it will be fun to watch how this turns out :)

Both consoles will sell out. In fact, the PS4 already has sold out in most places lol.

With Sony launching in more than double the amount of countries than MS they must be really confident in the stock they can produce. It's a good list and should secure Europe for Sony but obviously there will be people that are disappointed they won't get it at launch inn their country. I'm sure they will release it ASAP, they want your money :p

Oh I know that. Even the standard version is sold out for thr ps4. But since Sony has no issue with manufacturing the ps4 in large numbers, I do not think they will be sold out for a long time :)

Elaborate?

Why stop there?

Tell me about your expertise.

Haha, sorry guys. It was getting late and I didn't have time to elaborate. So let me start over.

Square just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase the PS4, nor will they purchase any of Sony's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has alienated an entire market with this move.

Sony, publicly apologize and announce a 2013 release date for Japan or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Sony Brasil's mystery about the price is making me worried. Their support and prices here where always worst than Microsoft's, so I'm totally expecting an US$1200 PS4 with super-limited stock (the pre-orders didn't even start here, yet). Hope I'm wrong :(

HAD to return to this thread and say this. My country isnt listed as one of the 32 for PS4 launch. BUT, the local distributer officially released a statement saying 6 December 2013 is the official release date here.

Is it the same with Gaffers from countries not listed in the OP? It implies Sony is doing a global launch by December 2013 even though they arent making it all public knowledge.
