No clamshell design. I can see this getting damaged or broken a lot. The design is so awful. So will 2DS sales cannibalize 3DS? I'm confused as fuck on this.

Nintendo has been confusing the average customer pretty much since the 3DS was announced. It's what they do these days.

What's up with Nintendo and gimping consoles? You're supposed to add features over time, not subtract them. I guess I kinda understand market research showing that the 3D warnings were scaring parents away from playing it, but I'm pretty sure they weren't also scared by stereo sound. And I'm damn sure a clamshell design that protected the system's screens while not in use was a million times more ideal for the way their kids treat things than two always-exposed screens.

It's not like they're not selling regular 3DS and XLs anymore.
And they most likely won't make any updates to hardware until the successor. They'd rather not divide up the fanbase with what games you can and can't play because one isn't strong enough.

Reduce price by removing 3D screen as it does not add any gameplay value = OK, makes sense.

Removing the clamshell design that's the hallmark of the DS range and a feature that had the benefit of a compact size for storage and protects the screens from damage = WTF??

This is a cheap, 3D-less, hinge-less version of the 3DS. Looks weird. But has a specific market and purpose. It's not the next thing.

What I don't like though, is the naming, even though it wouldn't make sense to call it 3DS if it's not 3D. But seriously I can see people in the shops saying "oh this game is for the 3DS and I only have a 2DS. I shouldn't get it". Of course, that will only happen until they realize there's no 2DS games.

on the ds emulator sleep mode is emulated by minimizing the program and that allows you to get past phantom hour glass.
