Media Create Sales: Week 34, 2013 (Aug 19 - Aug 25)

Mrgrgr
and now they announce wiiu price drop randomly aswell lol

Unfortunately it seems they just priced the Deluxe at the Basic price and there's no $250 version.

Edit: And it's... effective September 20th? Well, I guess Wii U sales will be zero for the next few weeks...

There's a very real chance that Nintendo may be cancelling Bayonetta 2 if TW101's sales are this bad worldwide.

Wow this would be such a horrible decision. Not only is the game really far along but to cancel a game for a system that is low on games in the first place?

Wow, just wow.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

Wonder if Japan will follow suit even though I believe the price was a bit more competitive compared to the West.

The last update for Luigi's Mansion VS Donkey Kong Returns.

LM2 will win in the long run for sure. Who is doubting the million now?

yeah it's essentially just a sort of like a bundle, I mean you usually don't pay an extra 50 for console + game over just the console.
I understand there is more "value" than just the game in the premium pack but 20 gigs of space isnt that big a deal.

They are but Iwata is horrible at presenting games. They should hire some guy/girl who can actually excite people.

I agree Iwata is horrible at presenting. But to rely on Nintendo Direct as your saving grace is idiotic. Everybody already knows the only people who watch the streams are the most dedicated of fans aware of what to expect already.

I think microsoft will drop kinect before nintendo even thinks about dropping the gamepad.

So this time next year, 6 months after MS drops kinect there will be an announcement of the wii2u with no gamepad and $200

Ouch, poor TW101. Wasn't expecting it to sell boat loads, but wasn't expecting such low numbers. Seems like all hardware has suffered from a post-Obon drop too.
Vita numbers aren't too hot either for this week despite a new game being released (but again - Obon may be to blame?).

May have been posted before, but i think this should be the official song for bombas. It's the first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word "Bomb".

All this nintendo info dropping all at once. This stuff would normally be in a direct and it's not like they give alot of lead time between when they anounce the directs and when they broadcast. Wonder why they didn't do one for this stuff.

MOAR LIEK WONDERFUL 5K COPIES SOLD, AM I RITE?

I didn't like the Platinum games I've played, but it's really sad to see animu shovelware sell 3x as much copies as this.

What a great shame for Wonderful 101. Worse than expected.
Time to re-release it with an all-star Nintendo cast.

Wonder Red = Captain Falcon
Wonder Blue = Link
Wonder Green = Samus
Wonder Yellow = Mario (because of the hammer)
Wonder White = Shiek
Wonder Black = Lakitu
Wonder Pink = Bayonetta (or so)

I agree with you. Then Nintendo would get criticized for not doing original IP...

I'm so sad for W101. It's one of the best games I've played this year .

I love all the little details in the game, it's so funny and fun at the same time. It's Wonderfun !

Wii U <6k... :'(

Sad week for Nintendo (not counting 3DS... Nintendo's savior for 2013 for now).

It feels quite disheartening, to see W101 perform this poorly, I don't know why.

Hopefully, it performs better elsewhere.

Actually, hopefully this performance makes Nintendo push it elsewhere much harder.

Or maybe they'll sunk cost fallacy it and spend less on marketing a sure bomba in all territories.

I'm just going to say why should any 3rd party invest in the Wii U when a 2nd party non-Mario/Nintendo/cliche game just crashed and burned.

Nintendo is beyond Panic mode here, at least when it comes to non-first party software. No one is going to start any Wii U projects any time soon, possibly cancel any that are in the works, and if by God's grace the Wii U turns around, it will be at least a year or two before 3rd party gets back on board. Which would be at best a wasted 4 years for Nintendo.

This situation is quickly becoming "business model changing" bad soon.

Good lord, those 101 numbers.

Did not expect it to bomb that hard, not even close.

Poor Kamiya, first game since Bayonetta and such a disheartening performance.

Well the 3D World bump to november is good but that doesn't help japan much. I like seeing nintendo take action though even if i think failure is still the future.

I secretly hope that with W101 bombing, Nintendo gives P* this IP and leaves them to do whatever they want with it.

Yeesh, can only hope W101 does better in the west. It looks incredible. It'll be a gem lost in time, no doubt. The god hand or zak and wiki of wiiU.

Now that we finished freaking out about Wonderful 101 can we start talking Vita? Those are dreadful numbers for this week, especially with two new games coming out. It points to the Vita being a very niche product and once that niche audience builds itself up people outside of it have no desire to pick up the system. Sony needs broad appealing titles on the system.

I guarantee you Platinum is wishing they hadn't made deals with Nintendo, and Microsoft now. While they'd still get paid the same if the game sold 10 copies, or 10 million, these massive flops are only going to hurt whatever little pull they have with other publishers.

Well there won't be any pricedrops anytime soon so yes software has to do the work. The problem is the best they can do is get ports with ps3/3DS/psp. As long as vita continues to be a port system with no big exclusives it will sell 10k a week with bumps. It will be interesting to see how it does this holiday with the god eater/ffxhd as the big games

This assumes anyone was willing to back them.

I think Konami would've given them a shot at a new IP after two or three Rising games. I don't think that's a possibility anymore.

I'm not convinced they could employ their entire studio on Rising.

Konami isn't the world's biggest spender when it's not directly from KojiPro.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Wait a second.
These sales cover everything sold from August 19th-25th. TW101 came out August 24th. So this only covers one day of sales right?

2 days and the game won't even sell 2k next week so don't get too excited because many games only get 2 days

Also its really sad seeing pikmin sales, the ip will probably go back to the vault for at least a gen
