Kamiya no longer wants to make Star Fox, explains why

Lol Kamiya is such a masterful troll. It isn't up to him whether he will ever get to touch Star Fox or not. He has made it clear in the past though that it is his dream game. Internet whining (which he deals with on a daily basis) is not going to change his dreams. He just wants to mess with the people messing with him...and he's doing an excellent job of it.

Whatever. If Nintendo pays him to make one, he'll do it. He's just baiting the Twitter idiots, making them feel guilty or whatever.

I'd rather Retro or Treasure made a new F-Zero or Star Fox game. Platinum isn't owned by Nintendo, they can theoretically still make whatever they want.

Again, he didn't give up on anything, he was asked a question, he responded, that was the extend of his "interest" in making this hypothetical game that only the person doing the question had in mind.
"I've been known for saying I want to work on Star Fox," he said, "but the tendency for this to spread and people constantly pestering me with questions, like 'How would you do this? How would you do that?' ... Quite frankly, I've decided I don't want to work on Star Fox anymore."

Right there in the OP. I really can't understand why you two are being so ridiculous about this. lol Are you guys trolling me or something?

people like to underplay this, and try and justify the harassment. you can say he's a child or weak, but everyone has a limit. someone who is getting constant 24/7 attention both good and bad will feel stressed and put off.

frankly, if i had thousands of overgrown and overweight nintendo fans and ninteenyearolds constantly drilling (at lightest) me about a game then id be put off

What I can't understand is how you keep treating this hyporhetical Starfox game as something tangible, it never was. I'm on my phone so I can't get quickly the original quote, but I think it should be unnecessary at this point.

I never said it was a real thing. I said he has given up on the idea of making a Star Fox game.

I guess I can understand him:

All those tweets in the same day. Now multiply that guy by hundreds.

You would think that so many people asking questions would be a good sign that people are actually interested :/

Never liked the guy anyway. They should reform the original team and make one.

Wow!! I learned that my post was shared elsewhere, and met with a positive reception. Thank You, those who shared it. I know that not all post on here. Also, Lord Gouda, methodman and Biker19, Thank You for the acknowledgements.

Also, that "Is Starfox your God" tweet never existed. I checked Kamiya's timeline, and it is some blatant photoshopping. It is already quoted in this thread. It is an example of exactly what I said - the "Mr. Angry" labelling, and the lack of empathy for a man heckled to the points of discouragement and disillusion.

Oh, and to those who said "well, he shouldn't be on Twitter, etc.", that's as good as saying your child shouldn't be at school because somebody is bullying. You're missing the point. Like you, he has the right to exist on that site without being subject to the BS he's put up with. Furthermore, one's freedom of speech and expression also means being accountable for the consequences of his/her own actions. It's clear that a lot want all of the former, and none of the latter, and when they're called out on it, they resort to the 'banter and sarcasm' claim, as if to portray themselves as victims, when they're the antagonists.

seems more like a lame excuse to me. just ignore them? Harass? Wut, that's what you get when you answer constantly on twitter, he should be used to that by now.
Phil Fish says hi.

Ok, I think I get it now. Your original point is that his loss of interest is comparable to the tantrum of the Fez guy, that makes it sound like you thought the starfox thing was an actual real game, because that would be the only way both responses would be comparable.

A few hundred people spamming Twitter doesn't exactly instill confidence in the franchise. Which is why it's basically dead.

Kamiya this Kamiya that, he needs to delete his twitter account seriously.

at this point- pretty much.

The upside with using Twitter & being a 'celebrity' in your industry is that it gives you a platform to interact with fans.

The downside is that you get tons of bullshit because you are famous.

IMO Kamiya inspires the trolls because of the way he responds to (almost) everything. It's not just that he responds, but the way he generally responds; i.e. "do you eat shit" or "go ask your mom". Any attention craving dipshit can essentially get a rise out of the man- and anyone following him or looking at a video game message forum now knows it. It's a seemingly never-ending cycle of troll feeding from both directions.

Now Kamiya is claiming he doesn't even want to do StarFox because of the internet?

Yeah... maybe it's time to take a break, Kamiya. A lot of this shit you brought on yourself.

Yes, that's all I was saying. They were both effected by people on the internet and eventually made professional/business decisions based on those interactions.

It seems like the best way to get him to make a game you actually want is to convince him that absolutely no one wants it. His whole schtick seems to be to antagonize his fans.

That it was fake should have been obvious. I thought most people understood it was a reference to the tweet where he recently asked someone if IGN was their god after hearing of the poor review they gave Wonderful 101.

When is Kamiya ever not trolling on the internet?

He's a grown man, working on two huge projects, so why not have a little fun with his fans on twitter during lunchbreaks or something. This starfox comment seems like something to provoke his followers into getting riled up so they demand him and nintendo for more starfox; that way, there's a higher chance of it happening :p

Besides, he's far from the only well known dev who trolls his fans on twitter(Ed boon being a prime example) but I can understand how some of the things kamiya's written can be taken the wrong way...Maybe he can't write in english as well as he understands it. In the end, just try not to take things he says seriously, because it doesn't seem like he does when he writes them.

Kamiya: I don't want to work on Star Fox anymore. Because I already am working on a new Star Fox.

Obviously.

Take that seriously and you'll be disappointed.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but no where in that does he explain WHY he's no longer interested in making it, just that people ask him and he's just now telling them he's not anymore.

I think assuming that he means he's not interested in it because he's tired of being asked about it is making an incorrect logic jump based on his statements.

I wouldn't say that at all. It's clearly worded in a way that means "because of this annoyance, I don't want to do this anymore"

Well, I guess I disagree then since there's no "because" in his statement. If there was, I'd say it's clear. However, without any language linking the two I don't think it's clear at all, and could easily be "people keep asking me about it. (end thought) I just don't want to do it anymore (now leave me alone)"

Why are people comparing him about Fish again?

It seems more like Polygon made the news as though he cried about it. It seems more like a reaction on a successive troll post. Something he handled well by not posting long, incoherent posts.

I get the feeling everyone is taking this more seriously than he is. Both him wanting to make Star Fox and him not wanting to. He wonders things out loud and the internet around him rumbles.

He is still nothing at all like Phil Fish.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he just wants people to STFU about it. LOL

imagine a person who's brain is on fire with anger, rage, hatred, self-hatred, fear, pain, and feels like every second of existence is a curse. You are now talking to someone on the internet.

They're like death-cyborgs with pain implants or something.

I dunno. I've tweeted Kamiya before, he's a pretty humble dude. Way nicer than I expected. Not as arrogant as you'd expect.

I asked him does he ever get annoyed with fans, he told me that he felt it was a great honor for him to receive their expectations.

Kamiya says a lot of respectful things and it mostly gets overlooked sadly

Good thing, because every space shooter gameplay by Kamiya was pretty bad (I hated all of them, on DMC1, VJ, and Bayo).
He's not qualified for Starfox. Put him on an action game instead.

Like I said, he's not like some person (*cough*Fish) who initiates the terrible stuff. Most of the "anger" Kamiya spouts is due to another person and not him. If you approach him normally, he's a pretty cool guy.
