Considering Microsoft strategy is a social media barrage of daily news, I do think this is PR intended to go viral or something.

Honestly, I feel the same way. This was leaked on purpose, that is why the "leaker" isn't afraid of showing his face, he isn't afraid of using his YouTube Account. He has a freaking Xbox One in his home, its not like he stole it. He has been given one, for whatever reason. Obviously he works for them, and they probably wanted him to do this, or told him he could when he asked to. Its not like its a full demo of the OS, its basically a tease. Notice he didn't play Ryse, other than the opening video? There was no live gameplay, he didn't really open any apps or any of that. More or less just showed the OS, jumped in and out of a game, showed the controller, and that was it.


I would assume Microsoft had stipulations, such as "do not show gameplay, do not show any other apps, etc."

Surprised they haven't shown it yet, being that their dashboard/OS is the main thing that people continue to claim that Sony 'cant touch'...I'd be flaunting it.

But I think they are still trying to finalize it, since Sony pantsed them in Feburary.

It looks W8ish, which isn't a compliment, but it also didn't look any worse than Sony's big wall of blocks either...both are gonna be tiles and tiles and ads for games and paused apps...

That was just the Activity Feed from what I understand. The actual UI is more like this

From the looks of it PS4 "tiles" only scroll from left to right and the PS4 store seems to do the same.

and tbh, Win8 is as clean as you want it to be
and if you actually used it, you would know that for most base users, the start "screen" is hardly an inconvenience at all. So many negative predispositions about Metro

Yeah, why would MS leak a kid saying "Bing sucks"? Didn't they just pump stupid money into Bing? Are they about to drop it and this is just a teaser of that fact while also showing off the 180 OS? That seems stupid. But, you know, tinfoil is cheap these days.

Gotta give the viral some credibility? Bing's a big boy (product wise) and can take it. Gamers will ultimately be restricted to Bing on their Xbones, so it's an inconsequential hit.

It uses the same basic UX and aesthetics as the current dashboard, just with more customization and a flat background. I don't see where all the ire is coming from, personally.

Says who? People dont like it on Desktop but thats not because the metro UI is bad, people just want the old start screen.

They wanna have the same looking UI across all their devices they just moved everything to metro its not gonna change again. Metro is here to stay for a long while.

I don't have any "ire" on this topic. But a lot of people don't like the Metro UI, and not just because it's something new for Windows. I don't think that's a controversial statement. Maybe it will translate better to a console. That they are going to push it so identically regardless is the only thing that I'm surprised by. I expected something less visually compact.

I want to know what the "Games Library" will look like on both. The thing Sony showed seems to be more focused on what you have recently played.

Metro is pretty horrible for non-touch or pointer devices. If you have Windows 8, I urge you to try and navigate it by using the D-pad. Not very fun huh? Scrolling through all those tiles one by one is annoying.

What I hate is everyone who likes ps4 is automatically a sony fanboy.. I have both consoles, after how much MS have shown their corporate side and entertainment console added with their PR and policies, I hate everything about MS, their not an honest company. (Doesnt mean sony aint out just to make money, but atleast their trustworthy)

Disappointed by what I've seen as I hate anything that even remotely looks like Metro.

At least it's pretty snappy so far, which I guess it should be with how much RAM is in these things.

My point is that Sony's previous attempts at OS's have not been great. The XMB is kind of terrible, the Vita OS is competent but not amazing, etc. Metro is a functional system that is present across all of MS's hardware. You may not like it because of PC reasons, but it works and it works well.

XMB is perfectly functional. Never had issues with it. Can't comment on the Vita OS as I don't own a Vita. Regardless, you can't make judgements on the PS4 OS based on the PS3 OS.

Multi-tasking thing is quite cool and neat. But those tiles are hideous. Hope it look good when there are proper live thumbnail for the respective tile rather than that static green color mess.
