The new title for this thread is perfect. I'm on mission 4 and I'm loving it. There has been some glitches early on, but I'm content with saying that ill never resell this game. Not because I don't think it will be rare or anything, but because this game is fun and challenging, pure and simple. It's one of the few games I actually go back to and replay the levels to try and beat my previous score.

Also I love the background art. Reminds me of mega man.

i love the title change almost as much i love the game. not only is the gameplay amazing but the dialogue and humor has me in stiches here. having class the next two days is going to be brutal.

Ok I'm dumber than the average bear, thanks again. I figured it out.

This game is a blast and I'm already so used to drawing the first three forms with the right stick effortlessly. I have no control issues after my 2nd day playing.

As much as "Nintendo All-Stars Action Game" (and I kind of wonder if it would've been Mario with the fist, Link with the sword, Fox with the gun, etc.) sounds admittedly frigging cool, I doubt that the game would've had a great dialogue and plot if Kamiya had to work with the legion of Nintendo characters who typically remain silent.

Tips on how to avoid getting/drawing pink when I wanted white and vice versa? Shit is driving me nuts, right now it's a coinflip which one I'll get but if I do it slow and meticulously I'll get the right one but F that noise in the heat of battle.

Also the regular enemies themselves are cooler than entire bosses in other games.

This game is incredible. I'm almost done with Operation 006 and this game continues to impress me.

If it weren't for Bayonetta I'd probably say this is Platinum's best game.

I'll have to see how it holds up on replays, but so far I really think it actually is their best game.

Oh how I wish the framerate didnt dip into single digits at times... so jarring and heartbreaking.

That title change.
Amazing.

I read the new Tricks page on PG's site and I still can't enable Unite Camp.
Am I not understanding the description or doing it wrong?

Well Bayonetta was pretty fucking bad at times as well to be honest (especially during boss fights - the second encounter against sapientia was probably running at <20fps even on xbox 360 for example).

For sure, I just wish the framerates were more consistent in P* games.

Oh well you can't have it all.

I just had a quick day-dream moment where I spaced out and fantasized of what they could do with a ps4. Did I dream this up? Or are they actually creating a ps4 game?

I know that feel... P* games running at a locked 60 fps would be godlike.

Sadly I think you dreamt this up. I'd love a MGR:R 2 on PS4 or a new license. Or anything really.

I don't see how Metal Gear Rising 2 on next generation systems won't happen. Platinum did an excellent job making up KojiPro's fuck-up. As far as I'm aware Rising did pretty well in sales. It was received well critically. And post release Kojima said if anybody was to do a Rising sequel, he'd like Platinum to do it.

Unless KojiPro/Platinum make the decision to give development rights to someone else, or the game sold worse than I'm lead to believe, I think a sequel is not only a safe bet but also likely at the hands of Platinum. And given I wouldn't expect a sequel to arrive until late 2014 at the earliest, realistically later into 2015 or even 2016 all things depending, it would be unusual for said sequel to not be on next gen platforms.

Finally started this up tonight.

I.. think Normal might've been a bit ambitious for me :(

It can be really hard to tell what's going on sometimes, and then out of nowhere a big robot comes streamrolling through my crew! :(

Sharp edges when drawing White. Slight curves when drawing Pink.

Alternatively, if you're not trying to draw a small sized version:

1. Draw a line (and it should turn blue for sword)
2. Draw a sharp angle (and it should turn green for gun)
3. Draw another sharp angle (and it should turn white for claw)

Similar on how you go (sometimes Blue ->) Pink -> Yellow and Red -> Black.

Once you figure out a shortcut in your brain for the shape, you can then easily draw it small. Until then, I use unfamiliar shapes when I have a boss stunned or staggered.

Oh! That's the word! Staggered! That's the perfect word for stars over their head.

Just picked this up finally today. Currently somewhere in the middle of 003.

What a fun game. I love that we get Kamiya's trademark mech/animal enemies and fruity bad dudes with their classical music and all, lol.

oh boi - getting Platinum trophy in every Operation on normal is pretty hard. I made it till Operation 007 but didn't get it on 005C and 006B. Anyone else trying this?

Just got Platinum on 005C, in case you still needed a strategy

The first boss is similar to the 002-C boss, but easier. Make a 50-man fist and hit him a couple times, then Guts Block all three of the smash attacks he's gonna do. They have various speeds, for watch out for that, but if you press Guts as soon as he starts moving down, you'll get it. As soon as that's done, get your 50-man fist out and start wailing on him again, as he usually moves to the "Grab hold of the arena and flip it over" attack, but as long as you keep hitting him, it'll disrupt the attack. Sometimes, he'll fall down a lava fall. When the camera comes back, make your 50-man fist, because he's gonna slowly rise up all pissed and that's a perfect time for a free combo. You do like I say, he should be dead right there, the fist does a LOT of damage.

Then there's the Punch-out!! tutorial, which is pretty straightforward. You can guard all the Evade UFOs, which kills them and gives you 300 points each.

For the Punch-Out!! boss, dodge away from every eye/eyebrow and combo him afterwards. Jump the kicks, dodge the rocks/lasers/uppercuts. Once you learn his moves, he's not so bad. You don't even have to do the whole "Look for secret ways to earn KO stars" thing as long as you attack him after every attack. Eventually you'll stun him with blue stars, which means its the perfect time to hit him with that SUPER-TRI-LASER you've built up. After that, he'll have a yellow bar, and he'll do the same thing. Eventually he'll jump back and do that Super Macho Man/Mr. Sandman thing where he'll telegraph his next few moves. If it's less than five, you can just block them, otherwise you gotta dodge.

When you go inside, quickly whip out a big Bomb, then send your 80+ people Attack Liner into him a couple times and he's dead. Bomb + Attack Liner is hilariously broken for several of the supposed tougher encounters in this game, and this will save you a lot of time and any potential damage.

Finally, the Volcano escape. Stay in the upper left or right hand corners. When he does the fireballs, move down and over the other corner to avoid them. When he does the drill, just stay where you are for a second, then dodge out of the way when he's about to reel back. When he does the laser, stay on the right/left middle of the screen, as it's either gonna be vertical or horizontal and you can avoid them.

Do all that without getting hit, boom, Platinum trophy.

Wow, so people really do think this is better than Bayonetta? That is some heavy praise, considering how incredible that game is.

I need to open up my copy and just start playing but I haven't even touched my copies of Rayman Legends or Pikmin 3 yet. And The Wind Waker HD is right around the corner. Arrrrghhh, what to do what to do.

I have a preference for Bayonetta's style of control and combat design, but it's a great game with a very similar structure, once you look past the isometric/100 tiny people angle.

Finally got to play the full game last night and am really enjoying it. Frustrated about my crappy grades on normal - but the boss fights are great.

I knew I loved the combat from the demo, but I am pretty charmed by the dialog.

They won't feel it for long, though, because they will be dead.

Oh work, you get in the way of everything.

The difference between drawing the whip and the claw is so simple. :p Draw an N or a Z for the claw and an S for the whip.

I played my copy for the first time last night. The drawing mechanic is kind of shitty. They should have put icons on the wiiu pad that I could tap as an option.

My kids loved watching me play. It looks great and was fun for the tiny bit I played, but the drawing is making me pretty nervous about the long term.

How long is the story portion of the game?

Right stick right stick right stick. And lastly : right stick. Think of the glyphs as if they are like fighting game moves. With practice it becomes pretty easy to pull out what you want when you want it.

Expect around 20 hours for the first run.

i've been playing with the screen and haven't had issues with it. it's just a matter of finding a pattern that you can easily replicate. it's quicker for me than the right stick so far. i pretty much use the rightstick just for straight lines for unite builds. my beef with the screen is having all those other functions on it. i'd prefer character switching to not be real time so i can do it whenever i want instead of waiting for a break.

"Diplomacy has failed! Team unite up!"

"Roger!"

Eeeeh that made giggle, like a 5 year old, this game is sooooo good! Shame that it bombed in sales as I wouldn't mind a sequel.

Hell, Bayonetta didn't exactly light up the charts and we're getting a sequel to that.

Loving the game. Kinda hard to play via off-TV though...hard to keep track of the leader.

Just picked this up yesterday, did 001. All I can say is wow.

The game is definitely weird to control, and doesn't explain everything but once I figured out the basics I really had a blast the couple hours I played. Can't wait to get more in tonight.

hah i made it, ViewtifulJC :)
my problem was my time never reached platinum but thanks to the fist the very first fight didn't last very long. Unite Bomb+Attack line sealed the deal at the end.

do you also try getting platinum on every operation? how far are you?

Guys, I have one of those credit cards so I can buy any item in the store. What should I get? Unite Charge? Double Power? Ukemi? I already have attack liner, speed charge, and a bunch of the unite morphs.

I have the entirety of 006, 007-B, and 008-C left. Working on 007-B, seems pretty straight forward. I can beat it in 5+ minutes, and can easily get the combo points at the end. Now I just gotta learn all the attacks and stop getting hit. Really wish TEAM ACTIVE UNLIMITED POWER was skippable, considering how much I replay these things.

Ukemi. It is really useful. Keep in mind you press the jump button when you touch the ground after being hit back/into the air, not before that. I also recommend Hero Time if it is available.

007B is doable. took a couple of tries. 008C on the other hand - time and combo is no problem. damage however is too high; especially the punch out fight. I never really played punchout before and therefore i suck at those...f.ex. i don't know what to do against the lighting dragon. If you have any tips, i would really appreciate it.

how did he draw that glider so fast?! Ridiculous.
