Having different versions of the game can be 100% done in software. Just have them pick a path at the beginning.

The real reason is for the hardcore to buy double. It's a cheap way for a ton of extra revenue.

Don't believe me? I bet you'll find people here who buy both.
 
My local Gamestop had 150 people for Skyrim alone.

Those lines aren't that impressive to be honest.

So people can trade with others. It's not required at all, but part of the fun of the whole "Catch 'em All!" thing.
Eh,I guess. I just always thought it'd be better to have them all in one game instead of splitting them up. They could still encourage trading by making it the only way to get some final evolutions (Do they still do that?).

Edit: Somehow, getting double the revenue never even occurred to me.

Hoping Pokémon absolutely kills the charts.

Would be nice to have a game be lauded in the media for being creative and not a depiction of Western society (The Last of Us, GTA V, etc.).
