It's just specific stores waiting to launch preorders. I'm sure they have had their allocation for awhile, they have just been waiting to launch preorders. Walmart did the same thing. They waited until the end of August to launch their preorders.

Agreed. However, they do seem to be reaching unprecedented stock levels, since it looks like they are rolling out to most of the world by fiscal 2013.

I find it interesting (and a bit weird) that system notifications such as when the DS4 is detected come in from the right and yet it seems Trophy notifications come in from the left.

Maybe they want to differentiate them?

Notifications on the left - Game related (trophies, game invites etc)

Notifications on the right - System related (Controller, internet connection etc)

Someone said before that the star is for developer only features.

Just as an FYI, like the PS3, anything that has a star next to it is only on test kits and reference tools.

This goes for menus, submenus and options.

On the Xbox 360 achievements are instantly uploaded to Microsoft's servers when they're earned. Sony chose to only "sync" the trophies with their servers when you go the the trophy profile on your console and initiate the action yourself.

Someone said before that the star is for developer only features.

I would love to believe that, but this is exactly how Sony did trophies for the PS3, and Vita. Seeing that screen mention "offline mode" is right in line with the previous consoles.

I would love to believe that, but this is exactly how Sony did trophies for the PS3, and Vita.

And Vita handles them much better than PS3 does.

Very snappy and seems functional. Those are my prerequisites - as minimal as possible (not that this totally satisfies that itch) and as fast as possible.

Vita still syncs your trophies manually. The Xbox auto synced achievements when it launched in 2005.
