I don't know if people remember or it was proved untrue/fake...

Some months ago there was an info that Sony was on PS4 around 4-6months ahead in software development compared to Microsoft on XBO. Maybe the first games on XBO will be crap because of this.

Early PS3 games was like shit too.

Resistance was pretty technically savvy for a launch title. Right?

must be on the software side.

1.31tflops system must be able to do ghost in 1080p@60fps it dont even look that good

If it is software side, why is the PS4 able to do 1080p and Xbox One not?...

Stop with the denial.

Is that Titanfall rumor a serious thing? I mean isn't that game on the current Source engine? I like Source and all, at least in Valve's hands, but an overclocked toaster can get 1080p on it.

1. Oh sure, but I just mean I can't see this game being the catalyst. I can't see the long term effect on sales being anything but the tiniest blip. Consumers are going to make their minds up about the platform for reasons far more critical than this.

2. I dunno. Every time I try to show one of my non-gamer friends the difference between SD and HD channels some of them STILL don't notice lol

3. Yeah I think obviously the gap in XBO and Ps4 power will show throughout the generation, but I don't think we'll keep seeing things like this happen for games that look like CoD: Ghosts. I think this is about the added complexity in the hardware and how it means a game trying to make a harsh deadline had more trouble on XBO than PS4. Which everyone should know would be the case by now anyway.

1. Hmmm, that's a good point but COD is arguably the biggest license at the moment on consoles. That alone could be a tipping point because personally I think there's a graphics whore in all of us ;)

2. I've actually rented movies digitally on SD because the difference isn't as noticeable for me. Or I get used to it fairly quickly. Where it's completely night and day is when you show a live sports broadcast such as an NFL game. It's night and day.

3. You'd think so wouldn't you?

I might not like Microsoft...hell I admit it I dislike them but a 1 console future is a sad future.

The best thing about these *rumors" is that it's proof that whoever is managing GAFs servers have done a good job.

It wasn't bad during the PS2 era.

WAIT - that's the ps4 version in 1080p? Tell me thats 360 b/c no way in hell that looks next gen. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't make this xbone debacle any better but still wtf.

btw _ i'll be getting both consoles and bummed that xbone is getting the 1080p bone as i prefer that controller (and yes I've played with the new ps4 controller too - much better then ps3 but they made the triggers for little people hands).

Maybe, maybe not.

I think more importantly the xbox one was an always online console. That meant you could put whatever in the retail box and keep working on it right up to release because everybody was online to grab the updates.

With the late change, I'm sure a lot of devs were caught out suddenly having to get it "finished" and stable and ready to go for offline consoles.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see issues with the early titles (even besides the usual launch issues) but that may settle down later.

Man, I didn't expect MS to screw up their next-gen console by this much especially if this turns out to be true. It just keeps on giving and I don't think it will ever stop.

Oh and this thread is killing me.
The laughter is just too much now and it is great.

They've replaced very large portions of it, apparently. Not surprising since Valve themselves admit that Source is getting dated.

I'm still shocked that this game is the #1 Pre-ordered game on both Next-Gen platforms, current gen platforms and probably the PC too.

What the hell is so fun about running around on small maps Quick-Scoping everyone at close range?

Wait - are these the same fools who get Madden every year expecting it to be better than ESPN NFL 2K5 from 9 years ago? That explains it. Enjoy your arcadey killstreak-shooter.

Uh...it's not. Last I checked Killzone was the #1 pre-ordered game above all else.

Cboat already said 1080p on the xbone would be the exception, not the rule. He said 720-900p would be the norm. #ASSSTROM2013

I really don't know why people doubt what Cboat says any more when it comes to microsoft...the ps4 october prediction was something many people had heard rumored and may have been an original target date for the release...in Cboat I always trust...

Some of my favorite comments from Reddit's Xbox One sub:

I agree. It's even sadder that people defend these so called "insiders".
Why didn't they know that Titan Fall's release date would be announced today?
They are just trolls.

Meh, 720p is better, gives u better fps and textures and lighting But the cloud could update it she Microsoft

That site is home of the biggest pro Sony circle jerk right now... Over a unconfirmed rumor.
Xb1 having free dedicated servers is much bigger deal... And that's not a rumor! But you wouldn't know it on that site.

The "special controlled event" of it sounds like bullshit. Just talked to someone who has a review copy being mailed out to them. PS4 version.

So... the plot thickens. Or gets less thick. I told you this shit was thin. Nix that part.

That's very true. The following things have to happen: One, this news has to be confirmed. Without it being confirmed, it'll just die until launch day, until which time it'll be too late to change potential sales for the most part. Game Journalists have to do their job and follow up on this story, if there is indeed a story.

Even though CoD is as mainstream as a series can be, I still believe that most consumers won't make their purchasing decisions based on a cross gen game they could just as easily get on 360 or PS3. Maybe I'm wrong, though... I sometimes have trouble seeing into the mind of the casuals :p

If this just disappears without a confirmation of resolution COD is natively running at on next gen systems then there is no point in games journalists. I get that NDAs and embargos are part of journalism but this is news, or at least potential news. One of the top gaming franchises is putting out a vastly inferior production on a next gen console, it is potentially a massive story. If after COD comes out running at 720p and we here journalist say they knew it for a while before launch I will be mad.

If it was the whole market making a decision I would agree but less than 5% of gamers are going to be buying next gen consoles at launch and I think a fair proportion of them will know if something is wrong with Xbone and either go PS4 or wait to see if it gets better.

Flash, I'm not going to defend those who blasted you, but you shouldn't had written a huegwalloftext to comment on this. You're just inviting attention at that point.

Should had just been "sucks that XB1 is weaker, but unfortunately MS makes all my favorite first-party games, so I'll deal with an inferior multiplatform console."

Or just don't say anything. XB1 gamers already know beforehand that they're going to get a weaker console, and ones like yourself have no problems with that because you want Halo, Forza and Gears, specifically.

I completely understand where you're coming from but I needed to get that wall o' text off of my chest. Could I have been a little bit more succinct? Oh yes, but I really needed to say what I needed to say. But again, I know exactly what you're saying. Thanks to your post, I now have this stuck in my head. Cheers.

Not on "current" Source, they rewrote several parts of it.

A good bit of it is brand loyalty, I will fully admit that. I've been with Xbox since Halo CE and I've never had a good enough reason to jump ship since. Other reasons are that all of my friends are getting XB1s, I supremely disliked the PS3 controller and am not convinced that I would enjoy the PS4 controller as a result of it being its successor, and because I have more faith in XBL. I will say this though, the closet that I have gotten to getting a PS3 was when I saw The Last of Us came out. Love the concept, love the story, love the new take on "the infected". I've actually been planning to get a PS3 for years but it just never happened and with the PS4 coming out it doesn't make sense for me to get one at all anymore.

Speaking from personal experience you should never get too attached to a brand. Always follow the games. You've missed out on some great ps3 games and I've heard that the ps4 controller has been improved considerably. Obviously not everyone has enough money to own every system, but if you can afford to and you genuinely love videogames never stick to just one system, when you do that's when you start to accept compromises that you shouldn't except from these manufactures just to justify your purchase.

What games you getting for X1?

Stop with the denial.

because the development tools are not as mature as the PS4's

So your saying the X1 will never be capable of doing ghosts at 1080p @60fps

I dont know why anyone would think that.

What am I in denial about?

first logical post from the green camp in a long time.

I'm firmly in the turquoise camp, sir! I can't bear to miss any exclusive games.

Can't wait to play Forza and DR3 the week after Killzone:SF. But third party games are all likely to be on my PS4, after this bombshell :/

I really do wish that some of the "green party" here would think a bit more logically with regards to their console of choice (mostly junior members with few posts). It's possible to still like a console without trying to discount the others' strengths... otherwise, how would people have liked the Wii or GameCube? Think with your heads, not your hearts. I've never understood what about large corporations could engender such a passionate loyalty in its consumers, and that goes for both sides. Buy the system that appeals to you, but do it without shitting on another brand or lying to yourselves. If you're not sure of your purchase, maybe you should hold off for a bit. These consoles will still be around next year.

Sorry for the off topic rant.

Back on topic. I hope this isn't true, simply because it does not bode well for future Xbox One releases. This could potentially affect sales, which, in turn, could lead to Microsoft prematurely abandoning support of the platform. This would lead to less games on a system that I am buying, which is never a good outcome. I understand that there were several assumptive leaps in this stream-of-consciousness part of my post, but I don't feel that assuming that if most games are visually inferior to their PS4 counterparts, it could affect sales. Feel free to call me out on anything you disagree with; I welcome and appreciate level-headed discourse.
