not entirely accurate the cell and 360 were different architechtures.

with ddr3 vs ddr5 the esram is to try and make up the difference its a band aid solution to bridge the gap between ddr5 and ddr3. now in the long run this will def help the but still ddr5 is preferred by devs.

the problem is working the ddr3 plus esram to compete with ddr5 takes extra work by devs plus more mature tools. this is something devs and ms tools will come to terms with in the long term and then the differences will stem somewhat from the esram vs ddr5 issue and the gpu capabilities issue

right now the problem is ms tools are not mature enough so ppl arent being able to effectively use the esram to bridge the gap (this is general what seems to be coming out .. from insiders etc) so you are having stupid situations like cod ghosts at 720p. the xbox one is def capable of running at game which isnt that great looking at 1080p but their tools are holding them back right now. in the longer yes with stunning looking next gen games yeah the xbox gpu and their esram hardware solution too .... right now its both hardware and software aspects which is holding them back = major clusterfuck...

(obviously this is my interpretation of whats coming out ... i have no knowledge of whats going on apart from what leaks on to neogaf etc )

The thing is,.. MS can save this with a $299 price tag and take the financial hit (which they can afford).

come on MS, just say fuck it and go straight loco. The landscape would change drastically with this move..

It will not happen but MS has made a similar thing when releasing OG Xbox. (Halfing the price after two weeks.. At least in EU.)

Honestly, I don't see the problem. No one can see the difference between 720p and 1080p - We're talking about a minuscule difference in pixels. It's obvious what Microsoft were trying to do and they achieved it; create a gaming machine that is extremely versatile with the right performance for the market. The Playstation 4 is just expensive and decadent, like a giant phallus symbol just reaching into the heavens. Barely half of that 8GB GDDR5 is even available to the developers -- All show, no go!

I honestly can't believe the fuss being kicked up about this. Microsoft still have amazing technologies like Kinect and stuff. Xbox is a great brand these days and no one really cares about Sony anymore so no matter who has the bigger numbers, Xbox will be the victor.

And they never said hardcore gamers don't play COD. Next time read beyond titles on IGN and N4G.
