Infinity Ward confirms: CoD Ghost is 720p on Xbox One, 1080p on PS4

I didn't realise gaming had become a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Why are people so concerned about other peoples purchases?

There is no exclusive that will be currently available for PS4 that makes me want one at launch, the XB1 has Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5.

That's enough for me.

If I want to count pixels and gloat about how great my system is I will buy a top of the line PC.

I don't know if it's a younger generation coming into their first proper next gen launch or what, but the attitude of some people (not just here by the way) with this whole new generation just stinks.

I'm a gamer foremost (I have no allegiance to either brand) and I will go where the games are, I don't need to validate myself/my purchases against other peoples.

I'm not there yet.
There's nothing to agree or disagree with. The PS4 being more powerful can't be argued. You said before that we'll let the games do the talking and they are. You had multi-plat developers on this forum saying that believing the systems were on par is insane and the PS4 is a good deal stronger. The specs, games and developers have spoken loud and clear.
*EDIT* I see you've come to the same conclusion as this in the other thread. Disregard this then.

I have no idea why people have such a hard-on for shitting over other people's future purposes. If people want a One instead of a PS4, what's not to understand? Why is people having different priorities such a hard concept to grasp?

I don't even want either console anymore and I still don't understand.

Tell that to DF. A large part of last gen the comparatively small differences where big. Now, when the differences are big, it is claimed that it isn't so big.

it's just the nature of the forum. if you like the first party IP's, features and vision then you shouldn't be swayed by anyone else. the biggest factor in my book is where my friends are going.

although if they say their getting XB1's then I'm going to ask wtf is wrong with them

Sorta sounds like you do...

I think the reaction is fairly in proportion to how badly Microsoft have dropped the ball and not to do with 'younger generations'.

For me it's a mix of the DRM resentment, the price and social media. This is the first launch of a gen with full balls to the wall social media. It just magnifies everything.

Amen brother and I'm going PS4

There was fanboy ramblings with SNES vs Megadrive, Ps1 vs Saturn et all but my god this seems very petty. Were not talking about the differences between Super Mario World and Sonic 1 - were talking pixels, however nice they may be at this stage.

Both MS and Sony have made mistakes from launch to right now. MP3s / DNLA playback / 1080p this / 720p that / TvTVTVCOD / whatever. Its going with what feels right to you. I like Sonys roadmap going forward but I've had a blast with MS and their 360. I actively want MS to succeed - a strong competitor will make sure Sony sorts shit out like the MP3 stuff sooner rather than later and MS fans owe Sony a lot in terms of beefing up their proposition

I'd go one step further and be more apathetic about the whole affair. If you like the xb1, then buy it. I hope you're happy with your purchase too. :)

Holy crap, even misterxmedia is super bummed about this news.
I was expecting the usual insider BS, but nope. It's a KO.
I had to go see it myself. Yep, he isn't even trying to spin it anymore with his insider or "MS trolling Sony" or whatever.
For a guy that claims to love MS so much, he certainly doesn't show much confidence in one of their biggest products.
He got himself into this whole 4TF machine discussion, he will now have to sink with it.

I'm looking forward to the comparisons between the two versions. As a console gamer I've never really had that 1080p 60fps experience and the PS4 looks be delivering on that for the most part.

I'm getting the PS4 not only for games like Killzone (which looks truly next gen) but also for the promise of what's coming in the future. I can't wait to get started with my PS4. Roll on 29th November :)

In ight of this news I am curious abut quality comp. between wiiu and xb1. I think if there is a quality difference it wouldn't be very high because engine is old .

The younger generation? This has been going on since the 80s. Nothing new here.

The rise of social media has definitely changed the way it plays out, though.

Agreed. Really obvious that social media has played a huge role in this upcoming console launch period.

Makes me wonder how things would have been if we had all of this back in 2005/2006.

Oh I know there has been console wars since then, but growing up with the NES/Master System, Mega Drive/SNES, I have never known people go to the levels I've seen now.

Christ as an example, MKII on the Mega Drive looked rubbish compared to the SNES version, however all of my friends never even mentioned it at the time, we just enjoyed beating each other no mater whos house we were at.

Way more of a disaster for Sony.

Too bad for Microsoft - they still don't think social media exists.

I bought a PS3 at launch as I had just bought a new TV at launch and it was a cheap Blu-ray player. I also had a 360 but it kept breaking so in a fit of frustration I got it fixed and traded it in.

I spent the next 8 years reading reports of how the games I was paying the same money for as my 360 bretheren was complete shit as it has a few less lines of resolution, worse framerates, vaseline filters, no AA, no shadows, less grass, etc etc.

I won't put myself through that again.

Been gaming for 30 years by the way.....

Fair enough it is all about the games, but because the libraries of both Xbox One and PS4 are so similar, many people prefer to just get the more cheaper and powerful system. As for exclusive games, I think Xbox One launch window is only slightly better than PS4. However buying a system strictly based on exclusive launch window games is silly, people are investing in these systems in the long run. MS have shown me no confidence with the support of 360 exclusives going down near the end of the generation. And they don't have as many Studios as Sony. Dead Rising 3 and TitanFall are nice, but can we expect Dead Rising 4 and TitanFall 2 to be exclusive, that is my main problem with Xbox One. Like I said buying a system based on launch exclusives is silly, it's a investment for the whole generation that you have to think about.

The difference in how news gets around between last gen and this is staggering. Youtube, Facebok, Twitter, games sites etc. Any news spreads like wildfire and is accessible on so many devices that there is nowhere to hide anymore. It's a good thing in the sense that information is easier for your average consumer to find but damn it can be a pain in the ass for those companies lol

By the time I bored of Dead Rising 3, Forza 4, and Titanfall I will have a Ps4 anyway.

For me owning both is the only way to go, as invariably Sony will have some killer games just like they do on the PS3, how else do you base a decision on which to buy first (when you will own both) other than what is available at launch?

Most everyone tries to justify purchases that can be considered major. And when buying something inferior for more money, the urge is even greater. Maybe you are exception, idk, but if so, you'd be very very rare.

I remember the tribalism depending on age, whether the kid(s) had any input into which unit to buy, and whether or not they used their own money.

Nobody wants to feel dumb or ripped off, so purchasing decisions get defended no matter what. It was the same then as it is now. Its just today, its a lot harder to bullshit oneself on forums like neogaf where contradictions and fallacies get rooted out pretty quickly.

Edit: I remember reading a stat that 70% of people who actually read magazine ads had already purchased the product, and they did that to feel better about their purchases. Human psych is interesting.

It just depresses me to see people rewarding a company for delivering an inferior product at a higher price.

It sends all the wrong messages and we'll just continue to see more of it, it's bad enough seeing the path Nintendo went down with shitty, underpowered, overpriced hardware, now we have MS doing the same.

MS should be given a kicking for the Xbox One, for a console that's supposed to stay relevant for the next 5yrs or more, it's a truly dreadful console, developed for the wrong reasons, with the wrong hardware.

If it's a relative flop, as I hope it will be, that will be the only thing that will get MS back on the correct path and they should comeback with a truly next gen console, either that or they will pull out of the console market, and quite frankly that would be the best thing if they are only going to deliver consoles of Xbox One quality and capability.

And to those who say it will be bad for competition, bullshit, this is capitalism, someone will step in to fill the gap, there will be a 40-50% market share of a multi billion dollar industry up for grabs, that's too big to ignore.

I agree socials have deeply changed the game.
In a good or bad way is up to the situation.

What i think is that shady PRing has no more place, and will always backfire.
Better to be honest, state the facts even if they are against you.

Yes, reads like Microsoft PR because I'm excited about all of those exclusive games that I can't get anywhere but on an Xbox One. Up to you to take it or leave it, but they absolutely make the Xbox One's price worth it in my eyes.

Respect though. You actually read it. :)

Then why do you write a wall of text comparing both consoles from different sides where you just need to say:

"I will buy xbox because of fun exclusives. "

Everyone would get it instead of reading wall of text

Well, you know, some people justify a 500$ purchase through games, in this case, the fifth and the third iteration of a very good and an ok series. You'll put about 20 to 50 hours in these games, on average I guess. The console, however you buy for about 5 years at least.

At launch, if I NEED to buy a console at launch if that's the case, I buy potential and price/cost efficient. I guess that is the key difference. Speaking about exclusives, I really don't about them anymore. Steam cured me of that. There are SO MANY games out there, it's all about variety and fair prices. Many games I enjoyed most took me by surprise and I couldn't even be arsed to buy the latest God of War, because of it's technical shortcomings. The last one I bought into the hype was TLOU and I got fucked by a miserable performance...so yeah, I do think more like that: "The games will be there anway, no matter the platform, I'd rather want them presented in a proper way" => esepcially framerate and resolution, that's the basics. I'll ALWAYS have a hard time enjoying a game with a shit framerate and a non native resolution, no matter the gameplay content.

Never got why anyone would need to come in a pixel counting thread to talk about how much they don't care about pixel counting but only the games.

Oh I get the irony, I just blurted it right out there (got carried away typing, sorry ranting) without even thinking about it.
