There is a lot of echo in this episode. It's just weird because I associate echo with internal dialogue, not hallways.

Sucks to be Suzaku.

Ledouche.

That Kyokai no Kanata gif (and the entire scene from the episode, really, along with memories of how varied the wardrobes were in Hyouka) made me wonder: what are some series that you think have the best costume design?

New crazy imouto character is fun. She has a cute voice. The seiyuu is a newcomer, Oozora Naomi, and this is the first thing I've seen her in. Apparently the only other named role she's had so far was someone called Suzanna in Genshiken last season. She's also going to be voicing the titular Inari in Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha next season, so, uh, get hype or something.

The latest task Kanade has laid out in front of him is definitely a challenging one. Good luck, Kanade! You can do it! Probably!

...That smile Seira gave after he made the moral choice instead of the convenient choice seemed awfully meaningful, though. Does she know about his condition? (I was rather hoping they would use that choice for this episode's "what if" sequence, actually, but the sequence we got instead was a massive lol, so I'm not too disappointed.)

Can I skip straight from the reboot to the 2nd series without feeling too lost?

... hahah, no. Just bask in the Imagawa and go back to the original stuff later. The benefit of watching the old stuff first then the new show will mostly being able to catch references.

Sir Suzaku?

The plus side of watching the dub is that the Emperor has the same voice actor as the Anti-Spirals in the TTGL dub.

I only watched the first two episodes of KnK, but I remember Mitsuki (or whoever the dude's friend in that club was) had just about no personality whatsoever.

Ah, because I can't find the original show (though there is a TERRIBLE sub on youtube), and also it is like 90 episodes long.

Shin Mazinger 1

I don't know what is going on but it is fucking amazing.

That would be confusing, since Shin Mazinger is very different from the original series and throws in some elements from Go Nagai's other works to spice things up. You can always check out the original Mazinger and its sequels later, but obviously you'd have to be in the mood to watch something that's undeniably dated and from a much simpler time.

It's still a huge shame that Imagawa hasn't been able to make more of his version of the story.

You'll get what's going on eventually, but then you'll join the rest of us in lamenting that there's no more of it.

Is it worth watching the original Mazinger Z or should I just watch the so-called reboot that came out more recently?

Only watch the original if you're fine with very old animation and slow episodic stuff. In the first 10 or so episodes, the animation was especially very rough, since they didn't seem to have much budget or experience in animating mecha.

After the first 20 or so episodes, although the show stays "episodic", there are many multi-parters and even running plot threads. I thought it was better than most other pre-Gundam robot shows I've watched, in spite of the rough start, since there weren't things like having to end the battles with the same finisher every time, the episodes actually could be pretty variable (some are basically 90% robot fights, while in others you only get the Mazinger actually appearing and fighting right at the end of the episode).

Can I skip straight from the reboot to the 2nd series without feeling too lost?

Not really. The main plotline is the same, but Shin Mazinger adds many subplots and secondary characters that weren't in the original but gain quite a bit of focus there. In fact, one of the complaints about the show was that those extras received more development in Shin Mazinger than the original cast. Shin Mazinger also ends on a cliffhanger ending (like many other Imagawa shows).

The events of that cliffhanger have a close parallel in the original, but the original goes a bit beyond that, setting up the stage for the sequel Great Mazinger, while the remake stops before that, although it still teases the sequel it never will get in a different way.

Can't wait to see more of the Zuka Club.

NO.

You're so close. You need to watch like, three more episodes.

I only watched the first two episodes of KnK, but I remember Mitsuki (or whoever the dude's friend in that club was) had just about no personality whatsoever.

Her personality is essentially acting like a warmed-over Senjougahara clone.

Well, that's changed a little in the past couple of episodes, but it's still mostly true.

I felt like this was a decent stopping point before anything insane happens and I get interrupted because I have stuff to do for a free hours now. I'll be finishing this tonight, though.

Is there like, a summary version of the second season? I don't have time to watch a whole season anymore :p

Code Geass R2 is where things get really messed up. Nobody's going to be spoiling that here. That's something you need to see to believe.

I'm more or less okay with things being dated. Older Gundam shows are sort of my favorites compared to their newer counterparts.

But then couldn't I just watch a few episodes off the end of Mazinger Z going into Great Mazinger after I finish Shin Mazinger? I don't want to watch 90 episodes if I can avoid it.

Yo, trust me, I know you're short on time, but if you can make the time for R2 you'll have seen enough to tide you over for 2 years. You don't want to leave yourself hanging between seasons that long.

This is one of the longest payoffs in anime that I've watched lol

Well, it's definitely something you'll either love or hate. For plenty of valid reasons on both sides.

Code Geass R2 is where things get really messed up. Nobody's going to be spoiling that here. That's something you need to see to believe.

And even after he finishes, there's always the question of whether he'll be surprisingly satisfied, quite baffled or very disappointed by it. All common reactions.

One does not simply skip R2.

That was amazing. Different from last episode, they had focus in this one, so it end up being great. If they had focused on a serious story, or a funny ep like this one, on the last ep it would have been so much better than the jack of all trades they did.

Okay, I'll try to power through R2. I just am reluctant because I still need to watch Evangelion..

Holy crap mecha dinosaurs?! I need to see an episode of this.

haha at Oreki being overwhelmed at the thought of Chitanda bathing. Can't exactly blame him though.
Quite a nice episode, didn't like it as much as the last episode I'd say but that's not a bad thing necessarily. A nice look into Chitanda's character and sibling relations was had.
Also manservice. So much manservice.
