Call of Duty: Ghosts online multiplayer discussion thread

I really want that Black Ops II max prestige background, but I played it on 360 & I've switched to PS3 for Ghosts. I hoped with both of my accounts linked in the app it'd show up, but no such luck.

Clearly I'm concerned about the important issues.

I think I'm finally starting to get back into the swing of things. I haven't played COD since the first Black Ops, though that's really not that long, it took a bit to feel comfortable again.

As far as things I like, I love the marksman rifle weapon class. In previous COD games I always favored the semi-automatic assault rifles. My favorite gun has to be the M14 from Modern Warfare for its high damage, including the ability to one-shot kill (with Stopping Power), and its high kick, oddly enough. But in the COD games I played, the selection was always limited to a gun or two. Now there's an actual class.

That said, I've only been using the MK14 EBR (unsurprisingly!) which coincidentally seems to be the best of them numbers-wise (longest max damage range). It does feel so good getting that PING! from a single well-placed shot.

I do like the ability to forgo pieces of equipment for extra perk slots, I've always been a perk person. Though with how perks are broken up in this game, it feels like you have to give up at least one piece of equipment to get decent perk selection.

As for the annoying things, the spawn system being a nuisance is an expectation for COD at this point. With the maps being relatively circular and with no forced re-spawn delay (in TDM), it's bound to happen.

Not a fan of the unlock system. It's nice that you can use squad points to unlock perks and weapons when you want, but the overall system it seems too restrictive. I get what they're going for with the Create A Soldier thing, but since I only play with a few loadouts, it's not very useful for me. And why is it that certain hair colors/skin tones are unlocks? That one just makes me laugh and shake my head at the same time.

Overall, it's Call of Duty, pretty much.
I love the M14, it's the sole reason I played MW3 for as long as I did. I was a newb during COD4 so it was way too hard for me to use then and didn't like it as a sniper gun in MW2 but have always loved its sound.
I am really looking forward to using it in Ghost. Hope it still has that sound.

I'm starting to come around. I think I found my class and have altered my tactics. I seem to be doing okay and enjoying it now.

I havn't gotten a PC patch...

Also, my game is at full setting for everything, yet, my textures aren't working right...

This game is the definition of a hot mess and no offense to anyone else but i'm glad I didn't pay full price

Add me to the list of PS3's that are locking up and hard rebooting. I can't even get a game going.

Found a good shield class for Dom. Shield w/ motion sensor, M9 w/ Tac Knife, Marathon, Lethalx2, Blast Shield, Strongarm, ICU, C4, Satcom, MAAWS, Juggernaut (give it to someone else since you have Blast Shield and Riot Shield already). My KD is going to shit but I'm leveling up extremely fast because I keep rushing B. Kills, defense, offense, and capture points like crazy. In that snowy town map, I have gotten tons of triple kills. If a grenade comes in, just throw it back, if it blows up, blast shield. It helps manage wins even with an average team.

Few hours in and im struggling to see the difference between this and MW3. Still an SMG fest except the new mini map makes it even worse now.

I actually love this. The spawns are 'fixed enough' for me now that the maps are bigger and more layered. The weapon classes seem to (at least from what I've seen) encourage different styles of play aside from only what works. The explosion spam is turned way down as are the downright oppressive killstreaks - even though they're still very effective, you can't flatout suffocate a game with one good run like previous games.

Its weird. Its the most fun I've had since MW2 but so many people hate it lol

the patch fixed the menu lag for me and improved in game performance by like 10% (it's noticeable). keep going PC team!

Judging from this thread, I'm assuming I should pass on this? I was going to grab it on PS4 but I'm already buying Battlefield and it seems this game isn't very good online from what I hear.

Does it, at least, help not being spawn killed?

Absolutely. If you tend to stick to close-range fights. I've never killed 3-4 people then had someone pop up behind me. If you tend to play at longer ranges though it can get weird at times. Knowing spawn areas actually protects you more than feeds you this time around imo.

Not sure why so many people think SMGs are of the same gospel as MW3s though.

Oh. Oh wow. I feel sorry for anyone who plays against me in Search and Rescue. Oh my. Wow. This is something else. My word.

Close to two hours of double XP for everyone in the clan. If there's a preferred time for you, let me know in the clan topic in community, guys

After getting used to the maps, I'm quite happy with most of them.

Prison Break - I like it. I stay inside the jungle parts otherwise I'll be flanked.

Octane - I like it.

Tremor - I'm not feeling this one.

Freight - Decent enough. You really need support in this map.

Whiteout - Eh. Stay within the village otherwise you're gonna have a bad time.

Stormfront - I think is my personal favourite in this game.

Siege - Oh, I've only played this one once. I didn't like it.

Warhawk - This is one where I thinking spawning is broken completely, I swear.

Sovereign - My favourite to do in free-for-all (because I always win haha)

Overlord - Didn't like it at first, but it is growing on me.

Stonehaven - A lot of camping. Shit is always happening up towards the buildings.

Strikezone - Good small map. Good standoffs. The map changes as well (!!)

Chasm - Fuck you.

Flooded - Fuck you too.

I never feel safe in this game haha. So many line of sights.

Lol! Exactly! I'm paranoid everywhere. Also footsteps are very loud in this game and I encounter tons of people crouch walking everywhere. I can't wait to unlock whatever the silent perk's name is called in this one.

Fuck this game...lol. These maps are a labyrinth maze of shit. There's really nothing to learn, and very little strategy, because you just gotta keep moving and accept that you'll get shot in the back and side a ton. It does run smooth on the 360, though.

In BO2, those situations where I'd hear two shots and die immediately (with the killcam showing 8-12) were more the rule than the exception much of the time.
Exact opposite experience on my end. BLOPS2 had issues, but in 147hrs it's never been anywhere close to that bad. Meanwhile ghost has been nearly unplayable. Hoping it gets better in the coming weeks.

The maps would be fine if the spawns were fixed. The maps are so big that it should be impossible to get shot in the back and side a ton. For some reason, though, they thought it would be a great idea to spawn in someone's line of sight or in the room right next to the enemy.

It's because IW thinks revenge spawns are great idea because 13 year olds will like it better if they can kill the person who killed them right after respawning!

So fucking dumb. I always wait and kill the person again.

IW are run by idiots. Put out a decent game and ruin it with revenge spawns and FOV bullshit.

I love this game. But come on. Fix the fucking spawns and FOV. Not that hard.

Has IW explained what the deal is with these dedicated servers? I'm getting some pretty nasty lag spikes every now and again and I see host migration at least a few times per gaming session.

They lied.

Surprise, right?

They're hybrid. If you live close to them, you might get them. Otherwise? Lol.

But dedicated servers!!1

My top four wishes right now -

1) Fix the fucking revenge spawns.
2) No, seriously. Fix the spawns. I've had too many streaks stopped by someone popping up behind me for an easy shot.
3) I wish it would be easier to see enemies. Too muddy colors, with too many windows and corners. BLOPS2 was much better.
4) Raise or remove the Squad XP cap. I feel like I'm penalized for playing a fun mode.

Some of the maps can go die in a fire, but the rest would be decent if the spawns were better. Also, I got some bad COD4 grenade-spam flashbacks in Strikezone yesterday; it seemed that the entire enemy team was tossing C4, nades and flashbangs non-stop and it was awful. Not really a problem in other maps though.

For unlocking stuff, unlock a few dudes and play 6-7 levels with each. You'll get a good amount of points for your main character. You can also test new stuff in LAN mode or a local squad game before unlocking.
