(or look up your particular Bravia model)

----------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like the PS4 doesn't play nice with my TV (Sony KDL-32EX400 [1080p]). The UI is extremely pixelated.

I've encountered this issue before with my PC if I set the NVidia output to anything but desktop.

And no, this is not an HDMI issue.

The TV is displaying 1:1. This is not a scaling/overscan or resolution issue. This is not a sharpness issue. It has to do with the scene type being reported by the PS4, which the TV reads and does not display properly. On the PC, this is fixed if I change the scene type to desktop.

User Listonosh has reported this issue as well.

Looks like the UI isn't 1080p native or something, which is weird. Some of the pixels on the lettering aren't even showing up properly, like it's an improperly scaled non-native image.

There is an underscan / overscan option in the PS4 settings somewhere, I saw it in a vid recently.

I would check your TV settings first, make sure it's set to 'Screen' or equivalent, not 16:9 or some such.

It's an issue that may only affect certain displays. It looks fine on my Asus monitor.

did you try to tone down the sharpness setting on the TV? i remember this weird effect on text when i connected my PC to the TV(a sony bravia TV 1080p) and it was fixed by doing that.

But it's only the UI, right? Games don't do this? (I also own a Sony LED TV so I'm curious)

Games do it as well. Haven't tested Blu-Rays yet, but I wouldn't have my hopes up.

Yeah, I guess it's too much to ask for a Sony game system to output properly on a Sony TV. I mean just think of the logistics it would have taken for them to contact Sony to see if they could test the PS4 on Sony TV's.

Oh wait...

Disappointing. Hopefully my Sony display doesn't do this.

The PS4 appears to be reporting "Game" as the scene type. This is what the TV doesn't like. I don't know if there's any fix at all to be done, other than Sony allowing us to change the scene type being reported.

Can't you force the tv to some other mode?

Well go to your TV options and take the scene setting off 'Auto' and set it to what works best.

I have that TV as my PC monitor, and the Game mode makes everything much more pixelated than usual.

I had to use the movie mode to smooth the pixels out. I'm not sure how much input lag it adds but it's not that noticeable on my end.

Game mode is reported to only give you 5ms lag though, so there's that.

It would be nice if people read the OP.

Anyways, this is a content type reporting issue which appears to be affecting some Bravia models. No clue which specifically are affected.

I am pretty frustrated that I can't play my Sony system on a Sony TV, I'll admit...

Reminds me of when my ps3s (plural) wouldn't play well with my brand new sony 70inch this past summer. You'd think they'd be able to figure out the best compatibility...

Have you tried switching through the various source labels on the tellies the HDMI port? My LG only displays 4:4:4 chroma if the HDMI port is labelled as PC.

I too have the same exact problems. Have a Sony Bravia and seeing pixelation in everything from menus to games. Connected to my Monitor and everything is crisp and fine. Definitely a TV problem.

Not sure if it's a TV problem. Sounds like a PS4 problem that could easily be fixed in a software update.

My TV has a game label (for the actual input), then a separate game mode. I'm not sure if this will help you any, but I figured anything I throw out has a chance.

I can change the scene, but it does nothing to the pixelization itself. Just messed with the color, contrast, etc.

Important : It is possible that if this feature is not understood correctly that the TV could appear to be faulty.

That's from that link which implies you can, but nothing on the net I'm finding actually says you can. Weird.

Even turned off, the issue persists.

Ah alright. Very weird, sorry to hear that man.
