There weren't any deals going into Black Friday last year, either, but Amazon came through at the last second with that amazing AC: Liberation bundle.

ebay $150 is all I've seen
You did it! They listened!these guys are babbling about the same thing over and over...just end the stream already :\
There is a distinct difference between this Polygon video review of the Xbox One and what they actually demonstrated for the past 12 hours.
Ok so even forgetting the fact that Polygon scored the Xbone higher than the PS4, how do these people reconcile the fact that the stream we all just saw in no way, shape, or form lines up with their glowing written review of the same product? I mean it's one thing to be inconsistent across multiple products, but the same product? WTF? I seriously can't wait until these corporate shithole gaming sites go the way of the Dodo.
So what's the legitimate consensus here about XBone after this? Is there anyone that was legitimately swayed to hold off on the system viewing this?
I wouldn't be a surprised to see a difference between first impressions and how people feel after the honeymoon period is over.
I'm glad that reviewers seem to be hitting this point now instead of 3 months form now.
So what's the tangible consensus here about XBone after this? Is there anyone that was legitimately swayed to hold off on the system after viewing this?
I don't see why not since they did one for PS4.Grimløck;90674375 said:Is Giantbomb going to have a livestream, too?

Stating the obvious, it's clear it's not finished. Kinect 2.0 has the same accuracy as kinect 1.0. TV stuff imo makes no sense and have no idea why anyone would use it. If your that much into tv (dvr/tivo service) you still have to use that cable box 90% of the time. I know tv is where the money is at especially ads, but it doesn't even seem like they put huge thought into making it work. Stuff like google tv fails for a reason. The market isn't there.
Despite all that, they have a solid lineup in 2014 so at least they didn't totally drop the ball in that area.

Yeah. More or less what I got out of it as well. I started the stream and after watching them fumble around with the interface / Kinect, and saw how the games looked, I cancelled my about to ship Xbox One from Amazon.
I'll grab one for Titanfall.
What was so bad about the Xbox One during the livestream that it seems to conflict with their hardware review?
I haven't read their hardware review but via the stream Kinect was a mess, worked less then half the time but someone claimed it worked 100% of the time for them personally lol. Also the menus seemed like a mess.
The load/install times are bad. Surprised it's not getting that much attention.
Nothing that ive seen today feels like "its from the future". Thats a pretty bold statement.
Noticed that on Dead Rising on the Gamespot stream yesterday, took a while to load the game then another long wait for the campaign to load. Not GTA slow but pretty damn slow.
So it's not "So Future"?
Their hardware review ends with "8/10, this feels like something from the FUTURE".
Something feels off about Gies not being there, somewhere i envision a man in a raincoat on a rooftop with two cats and a bottle of grey goose wondering "is it over yet?"
Everything I saw from the 12 hour stream today did not come close to 'so future'. The most 'futuristic' ability on these new consoles so far (well on PS4 so far) is the ability to stream in a couple button presses. Everything else could have been done on current consoles.

Not really. The fast switching between apps and games (keeping them suspended) etc. would not be possible at all on the 360. There is a reason that the 360 is slow as shit now.
And while the One doesn't seem super fast, give them some time. Unlike Nintendo, Microsoft will actually tweak the performance of the system OS and speed it up.
That's really a line from the review? Seems like something they would say just so MS would quote them in an ad campaign or something
Any clips of this stream yet from when they were failing at kinect and moving the couch?
Did Geis even show up at all during the stream? Would be pretty telling if he hasn't.
Watching some bits of the stream, man the Verge guys really tear it apart haha. O and Zoo Tycoon seems like a must have app for parents to play with their kids, dunno if little kids would know how to navigate the menus and setup their zoos
Go to the link in the OP they split up the stream into chunks already and find the one with the verge in the titleOnly want to watch the parts where the Verge guys show up. Can you tell me which video they show up on?
Edit** Pretty funny that they have all these Xbone ads all over the place.

Because, generally speaking, ambition is better than not attempting anything at all, even if it is poorly executed. We're talking about a site that fetishizes multitasking/multifunction devices. The PS4 would of course seem a little bland from that perspective.
Loved the verge segment but stopped watching when they switch to the games - do they have an archive I can watch?
I realise they are more technical than other game sites, but many of their comments echo game sites impressions - voice recognition is OK (but OK isn't good enough for the primary interaction), navigation with a controller is confusing, and TV isn't perfect. Yet there are so many positive reviews of the hardware. Are sites reviewing what they hope it'll be?
I also liked one of the Polygon guys comments about the oneguide. He thought the live TV, 1998 tivo-style passthrough was just a stepping stone, a 'this is what we can do now without needing deals with cable companies'. The app channels are the real meat of where oneguide can go. I don't think Sony is in a position to compete with integrating those video apps in a guide like that, and letting you search across services, nor can it compete with the number of apps that MS could bring if they open the Xbox up to windows 8 apps.
That's where I think MS should focus, not on the HDMI a passthrough stuff. Do live TV&video via apps
Streaming from a console with no extra hardware was kind of like an 'oh shit' moment for me. Just my opinion and all...
