For me, it doesn't seem like it's worth the price tag if it doesn't work all the time.
The moment Kinect fails to recognize a command one time, most casual people will give up using voice command altogether.
The games are there, but no real must have exclusives makes it easy to hold off on buying one until they drop the price or make a SKU without Kinect.
Yeah at the end they were only using the controller, no voice commands. That says something to me

Stating the obvious, it's clear it's not finished. Kinect 2.0 has the same accuracy as kinect 1.0. TV stuff imo makes no sense and have no idea why anyone would use it. If your that much into tv (dvr/tivo service) you still have to use that cable box 90% of the time. I know tv is where the money is at especially ads, but it doesn't even seem like they put huge thought into making it work. Stuff like google tv fails for a reason. The market isn't there.
Despite all that, they have a solid lineup in 2014 so at least they didn't totally drop the ball in that area.

Yeah. More or less what I got out of it as well. I started the stream and after watching them fumble around with the interface / Kinect, and saw how the games looked, I cancelled my about to ship Xbox One from Amazon.
I'll grab one for Titanfall.

Personally, I was hugely turned off by the system by this stream, I won't even look at this system till at least a $100 price drop. Kinect is just not something I'm going to want to mess with and I won't be forced to pay that $100 premium for it. Game wise we are already seeing multi plat games all being better on the PS4 so that means there needs to be nice library of exclusive AAA Xbone titles before I purchase it.
Coulda made some cash selling it.

I haven't read their hardware review but via the stream Kinect was a mess, worked less then half the time but someone claimed it worked 100% of the time for them personally lol. Also the menus seemed like a mess.

Noticed that on Dead Rising on the Gamespot stream yesterday, took a while to load the game then another long wait for the campaign to load. Not GTA slow but pretty damn slow.

Everything I saw from the 12 hour stream today did not come close to 'so future'. The most 'futuristic' ability on these new consoles so far (well on PS4 so far) is the ability to stream in a couple button presses. Everything else could have been done on current consoles.

Not really. The fast switching between apps and games (keeping them suspended) etc. would not be possible at all on the 360. There is a reason that the 360 is slow as shit now.
And while the One doesn't seem super fast, give them some time. Unlike Nintendo, Microsoft will actually tweak the performance of the system OS and speed it up.
Looks like Polygon ironically reviewed the Xbox One based on how it might perform in the future. Because presently, that's several streams now I've watched where Kinect is cumbersome to use and takes multiple voice commands to even register certain tasks. Why would anyone use this over the controller? Fact that Polygon themselves switched over to the pad instead of sticking with Kinect says it all.

The installs sound crazy bad. COD had a 20 min install before you can play. That shit is just unacceptable and weird how that got glossed over. There playgo system doesn't sound as functional as the PS4's. For KI they had to wait til it was 75% to be playable and it's only a 3GB game. I'm not sure how other games were but that doesn't sound good so far.

I mean every device I own right now switches apps mighty fast, my computer, my laptop, my ipad, iphone etc. Streaming from a console with no extra hardware was kind of like an 'oh shit' moment for me. Just my opinion and all...

Watching some bits of the stream, man the Verge guys really tear it apart haha. O and Zoo Tycoon seems like a must have app for parents to play with their kids, dunno if little kids would know how to navigate the menus and setup their zoos

Forza has been discussed to death at this point; but after that GAF thread awhile back, discussing how Forza handles "reflections" on cars. I couldn't help but have my attention on it.
One thing that was painfully obvious during this stream is the "pop out" of meshes visible on the back of your car. Just watch the reflection on the back of the car and wait for any pole, sign, etc. to be visible on it. Then wait a second after that point and it will pop out very visibly.

Loved the verge segment but stopped watching when they switch to the games - do they have an archive I can watch?
I realise they are more technical than other game sites, but many of their comments echo game sites impressions - voice recognition is OK (but OK isn't good enough for the primary interaction), navigation with a controller is confusing, and TV isn't perfect. Yet there are so many positive reviews of the hardware. Are sites reviewing what they hope it'll be?
I also liked one of the Polygon guys comments about the oneguide. He thought the live TV, 1998 tivo-style passthrough was just a stepping stone, a 'this is what we can do now without needing deals with cable companies'. The app channels are the real meat of where oneguide can go. I don't think Sony is in a position to compete with integrating those video apps in a guide like that, and letting you search across services, nor can it compete with the number of apps that MS could bring if they open the Xbox up to windows 8 apps.

You also have to consider they're making original tv content, so they aren't just relying on what is out there on cable.
Ambition is nothing without some ability to execute. If you took a go kart to an F1 race I'd admire your ambition but you'd still lose.
IR blaster plus video pass through is late '90s tech. TiVo did it. MS already tried it once too, and Google TVs is the latest failure. Perhaps the goal is right but the solution isn't?
And if you're marking ambition, why does that have to use a fancy UI or gadgets to wave your arms at? Sony are investing in IPTV as their solution to bring live TV to their platforms, they've had accessory boxes that bring live TV (and DVR capability) to PS3. They don't lack ambition in this space, they're just focusing the message elsewhere at the moment.
Apps could be huge for MS and I really hope they do open the floodgates as Nilay put it. It probably won't be anywhere near as huge as the ios App Store, but it could be *the* gamechanger for MS.
Zoo Tycoon looks great but the load times don't help me inspire confidence in the 360 version being as good as this.

I don't understand the focus on live programming at a time when the vast majority of people don't watch live television, and those that do only do so a small percentage of the time. And since the Xbox doesn't work with DVRs its tv functions are extremely limited.
People keep using the word " future" in regard to this system, but it smells a whole lot like the past to me.

That stuff is useless to me. All it does is create unnecessary data and create huge amounts of network traffic for Twitch and co. (which I am sure they get compensated for by the platform holders).
The game dvr stuff, sharing short clips that is cool. But streaming and archiving some random dude playing a game? Nah, if you really want to stream and have an audience that watches your shit, you already have the hardware (and it also is much better quality as well).
