Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

Thought I saw something mentioning a December sale on the EU PS blog, but couldn't see it.

Then I saw we're getting Sonic & Sega Transformed on the 27th and got stupidl happy. Not a bad time to jump in on a Vita.

I've not seen a full one, but I've ripped this off a banned site for Q1 2014

Dustforce (PS3, PS Vita – PSN) – January 2014
Switch Galaxy Ultra (PS4, PS Vita – PSN) – January 2014

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (PS Vita – Retail & PSN) – February 11th (NA), February 14th (EU)
The LEGO Movie Videogame (PS4, PS3, PS Vita – Retail & PSN) – February 2014
Toukiden: The Age of Demons (PS Vita – Retail & PSN) – February 14th (EU)

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster (PS3, PS Vita – Retail) – March 18th (NA), March 21st (EU)

I don't think we know the release date for FF HD on the Vita yet, just on PS3.

Other games we've been told are coming next year:
- Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z (Jan. 28th)
- MLB 14: The Show
- Rogue Legacy
- Demon Gaze
- Conception II
- Borderlands 2
- Luftrausers
- Hotline Miami 2
- Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f

Black Lagoon has a bunch of others listed on his blog, too, but some of those are out next month (OlliOlli, Stick It To The Man, possibly Mutant Mudds).

Jawad, I believe, from the EU Blog mentioned that a sale for Vita games will happen this coming Wednesday.

Sonic Racing Transformed was my GotY 2012 on PS3 (and PC), Vita ver. is good with a few minor non gamebreakin frame rate issues. Make sure you update the game first to unlock Alex Kidd though.
I strongly suggest playing it while wearing headphones, the music is just superb.

At the very least given ATLUS' previous releases we can guarantee a Persona 5 portable release. Whether or not that's on the Vita though, depends on the health of the platform come 2015 I'd imagine.

I imagine in 2014, Sony will release much of it's support on the PS4. I hope after that Vita will get some love. The Vita needs more Tearaway-like(good games) releases in order for it to stay relevant in the handheld space. It's practically the opposite in Nintendo's case where the Wii U is starved of games while the 3DS is flourishing. They have opposite priorities which I understand.

Remote play is one of the only hopes that the Vita needs for more sales this 2014. While some of the games the Vita badly needs right now are Monster Hunter, Dissidia, Phantasy Star and maybe some other console franchises like Gran Turismo. The future of Vita is very shrouded at the moment and it ain't looking good. Compared to the 3DS of course.

I do think it's possible Persona 5 on Vita later, maybe some adaptations like P3P.

I don't know that much about computing, but I'll ask something. Will the Vita be capable to run Catherine? Depending on the answer we could know how compromises the Vita version will need to take.

Either way, Sony really needs to start pushing 8gb game cards.

Sonic Racing Transformed is next month in PS+, I'll download it and it would be awesome if I can play it with other VitaGaffers.

Oh yeah, I've got it on PC and 360. The addition of owning a handheld version is just even sweeter, even if the grind to unlock everything again might be a hassle!

I think it can based on the fact how KZ:M was able to look that good.

Also considering KZ:M needed a bigger size than 4GB, I doubt Sony isn't looking at this. Unless the price of the cartridges are really that expensive I'd expect cartridges more than 4gb will be produced in the future. Possibly once 128gb MCs are released.

Is there an easy way to remove your credit card from your account? Mine got hacked and I got hit up with $150 in EA sports purchases, I want to remove my account so I don't have to deal with that. Also considering contacting my CC company and disputing the charges.
You can remove it from psn account settings. Contact Sony about the charges. If you just dispute it, they might ban your account.

thanks for the information, card wasn't listed on the account settings page (weird). I'll be calling them after work tonight then I guess, hope they'll do something since it's a large amount (I'd be fine with them keeping enough to cover the charge back fees they might incur even). If not... I guess I only really have $15 worth of games and some PS+ stuff on it (not even an active subscription) so... might be worth it to dispute charges if sony does nothing.

Finally finished Hotline Miami on Vita. I was about 2 levels away from finishing on PC when it first came out, but I stopped playing when the game froze after me spending 20 minutes on one level.

Vita version with headphones = best way to play that game. My only complaint would be the way you have to drag your finger to look. I died a lot because of the annoying view mechanic. Otherwise, I'm glad I finally finished it. Working on the puzzle pieces now. The music in that game is top notch.

And Tuesday is Soul Sacrifice, right? I'm excited to give it a shot finally.

Can't believe there's no Neo Turf Masters on the Neo Geo PSP games.

Godammit SNK.

EDIT: Also, waiting for the sales. I've got enough to get on with, no matter how much I want Everybody's Gold and Valkirya Chronicles II for under £10 each.

Sales this wednesday for EU, yes! There are several games that I want to buy but not at their actual price.

I bought last week Jak And Daxter and the Lost Frontier. The game is awesome and I could never play it on PSP. Any fan of Jak or games like that should try it, plus it is only 8€. Now I only wish the made anther entry for Vita. With a lower budget they could recover investment with not so many units sold, and the game would be god like.

My Vita 2000 stopped responding to touch input today for a couple of minutes. Seems to be fine now after turning the screen off for a short time, but I can't help but be really paranoid about the possibility of damaging it or something in the future. I've only had it for a couple days, but sending it to SCEA or the retailer would be difficult, since it was imported.

I thought my screen was unresponsive, but those bloody Vita game vouchers scratch panel had rubbed off onto my finger. I dirtied the screen instantly.

Yeah there is, it is on the Neo Geo PSP collection

If I don't have confirmation of purchases for Tearaway from every single one of you within the next two weeks, we're fighting.

Feel free to PM me receipts to stave off the pain.

Finally played Open Me after buying it on day one. Pretty cool game so far, I like the puzzles. The main boxes are pretty clever, the side boxes are way too easy right now though. Played the first three packs after the tutorial.

Whoever designed the pack 1 main box is a sadist, lost 5 fingers because I couldn't tap that fast :D

Started it to delete it of my card but now I think it is a cool game to show off.

Talked to CS and they were able to verify it was not my console and both banned the guy's console and refunded me the $150 in charges. I'm now exceptionally pleased with their custom support (especially since I had a similar thing with a 360, albeit with no credit card and just the money I had in balance) and they basically told me to deal with it.

Sony you have won my business for a while, will buy tearaway.

when do we find NA ps+ december update again? today, right?

damn your avatar is nice as hell

can't wait to go home and plug a couple more hours into Tearaway

My friend wants to get a Vita soon, and I noticed PS+ is updating tuesday. Does that mean all the current PS+ games will be unavailable to download after the new games come out?

PS+ games only cycle, usually, at a rate of about once per week in the US.
PS+ games in EU cycle once a month and this Wednesday is the date there, I think.

So if, for some reason, your friend didn't get her PS+ code (looks like she did though), she would only lose out on getting Sine Mora (which is a great game, so getting that trial code early a good move).

Maybe one day. As in, when they drop below £40.

You'll be waiting pretty much forever, I'd wager. :p

when do we find NA ps+ december update again? today, right?

Monday, Dec 2nd, most likely

soooo Ys?? are people picking it or waiting?

I have a feeling lots of people will pass getting this one for now because of how expensive the month has already been.

I think they shoulda held off releasing it this month. Either release in Oct. or Dec/Jan.

I haven't finished KZ yet. I haven't bought Tearaway yet. I was supposed to get my PS4 on US launch but thanks to Amazon, I'm still waiting on that. I guess I'm going to wait until I get a bad RPG itch that needs some scratching.

So, my Vita will be here this week :D

Can you sell the codes that come with the bundles? I am certain Tearaway isn't for me (I know, sue me...) and the bundle comes with a dl code I think, I assume it's UK specific?

That's what I was going to do, but the spend 50, get 10 promo fully funded Tearaway and I now have spare cash for Ys :D

At least try the demo before getting rid of the code. Just to make sure you won't regret it later.

So Ys looks pretty interesting. Can anyone familiar with the series speak to why it's something worth playing? The gameplay looks pretty cool, but I'm relatively unfamiliar with JRPGS.

Fast-paced, well designed & challenging action RPG/Zelda-lite kind of games. Pretty much the at the top of the action RPG genre. The stories are kind of generic, but the fast-paced combat is really fun & can be challenging even if you don't pick the Nightmare difficulty level (i.e. the game isn't too much of a button-smasher for the average player even on easier difficulty levels). Some really great boss fights in the series. If you don't want to pay the full price for Ys Memories of Celceta right away, the previous PSP releases are available for cheap (Ys 7 is closer to Celceta from a gameplay POV, Oath in Felghana is perhaps considered the better game by a larger part of the fanbase, but imho that is arguable). Perhaps try Ys 7 first and if you like that, apparently Celceta is like a better 7.

Might pick up Ys. I haven't played one before, but I love JRPGs. I used to hate action rpgs, but I've gotten into them lately.

So tomorrow should be Soul Sacrifice on PS+, yes? I finished the demo and I am ready!

Sounds pretty fun, actually. You mentioned that it's Zelda-ish; what exactly is there in the game besides the combat? Does it have an overworld/dungeons/loot/puzzles, or whatever else?

Persona q was the only interesting game for me(i don't consider some chairs and a title interesting, especially after weeks of hype)

I disagree on the rest.
1)ps2 was the last sony console with a smt game right? Sony completely lost smt.
2)persona q is the perfect trojan horse for persona 3,4 etc ports, so sony is already losing persona
3)you look at the short/mid term(and that's already a nightmare case, i don't even want to think of castrated vita persona games because they are multi with 3ds), look at the long term, when atlus will see that cheaper psp level games sell way more than more expensive ps3 level games what do you think atlus will do? Sony is lucky because actually ps4 is the hot thing while wii u is selling so bad so for now persona won't leave sony consoles, but if before persona was a sony series, now it's no more.

SMT was never Sony's in the first place.

Nothing will be castrated. Japanese devs are lazy, but they aren't that lazy. The Vita will get the prerferable treatment in a scenario should P6 go multiplat. Just like XIII PS3 was superior over the 360 version, and just like DMC4 was better on the PS3, etc...
Only major time where the PS3 got shafted was with Bayonetta.

A chibi SPINOFF of a spinoff on the 3DS will not make future mainline Persona (and Arena) move platforms from Sony. Hell they even ditched the 360. The new Arena ain't gonna be dropping on that thing. Atlus/SEGA knows they will make the most money on the platform their audience is in. And that is Sony. If Persona Q is successful on the 3DS, then I can see Atlus/SEGA expanding on that subset series on the 3DS. So expect a Persona R or a Persona P for the 3DS but not a mainline title.

lending my vita to a coworker... godspeed dear vita.

i'm so nervous, but i trust this guy. he seems like a really good dude.

don't know what i'll do without Atoi for a day ;_;

Advancing through the world isn't wholly linear, so there's some exploration and there are some light puzzles. It's not as puzzle-filled as Zelda games and the puzzle design itself isn't too complicated, but it's not JUST about slashing through hordes of enemies. And even if there's a bigger emphasis on combat, the combat flows very smoothly so it never really feels that you are bogged down too much by enemy encounters (though, some grinding might be necessary if/when one lacks the skill to win a boss fight at his current level/set of equipments).
