Given the pedigree of the developer and its many years of work on the Halo franchise, it hasn’t been hard for gamers to get excited about the potential of Bungie’s upcoming Destiny. However, concrete details about the project have remained scarce. How does the game play? What parts are based in the traditions of the classic shooter, and what elements draw on RPGs and MMOs? How does your character grow over time, and what specific activities will aid in that growth? Bungie opened its doors wide to give us the answers, and our January cover story lays out all the info we were able to glean from two days of playing the game, talking with the developers, and witnessing demos set across Destiny’s many worlds.

Check out the January cover image below. Our 14-page exclusive Destiny story includes over 15 brand new screens, in-depth exploration of the many enemy sub-groups, locations, and weapons in the game, and a look at Bungie’s fascinating solution to leveling your hero.

Pretty boring game/cover but I guess I'll read it later today if I have nothing else to do. I just want to know if it's going to be anything deeper than another Borderlands game.

It's about time they actually reveal what the structure of the game and the RPG elements will work.

I really doubt that the KH3 preview is more than just screens from the most recent trailer and a regurgitation of what's already been said about the game.

DKC:TF definitely will be far more substantial, since it sounds like people are getting their hands on with the final version of the game, or close enough to be considered as such.

The content description sounds like it hits the very topics I've been most interested in. The timing makes sense given that we're just a couple months from the beta.

Also, that's better art than the game box art.

I'm disappointed that the press have decided to let Titanfall overshadow Destiny.

I listen to a couple of gaming podcasts and they never fail to mention how much people are looking forward to it, that it's the must-have next-gen title, that nothing compares to it, that it will sell XBones, etc.

And I think that Bungie is the better developer and they should have gotten the next-gen spotlight.

Oh, well.

Looks awesome but I ended my 2 year subscription early this year on account of them giving high scores to basically everything and having 2 week old news (sometimes month old). Just an advertisement for EB Games/Gamespot tbh. Just give every damn game a 10/10 to try and please everyone.

They did have an awesome deal with Darksiders 2 where you get this kickass poster for pre-ordering it. I snatched that up real quick, but too bad they haven't had many of those things for ages.

Oh, well.

Titanfall is coming out first. Just wait until Activision kicks up their marketing. Destiny is also guaranteed to sell more since it's releasing on more platforms. Lots of people don't even know that the 360 version of Titanfall exists.

That's what happens since Titanfall is actually playable

I'd be skeptical about Destiny until we know more about the gameplay. Otherwise it'll just be another SWTOR just with less story

Wait

Preview of Kingdom Hearts III?!

"We here at Game Informer got a chance to take a look at *new* footage of Kingdom Hearts III and we'll tell you all about it!!"
Cue a paragraph summary of the stuff that we have all seen before
"We're so excited about this and can't wait to play it!"

Haven't read it, but that's what I'd expect to read. Print articles in an post Internet world.

Its out on 4 platforms, Xbox 360, PS3. Xbox One and PS4. No PC.

Will still easily outsell Titanfall regardless.

Edit: Beaten.

Oh, well.

I feel that Bungie lost a lot of developer hype with their last few Halo games.

It's so rare that GI has a cover of a game that I'm actually interested in. This is definitely one of them.

I'm interested in reading more about this, so far the Destiny gameplay demos and footage haven't excited me much at all.

The thing about Titanfall is that the E3 demo was basically 99% of the selling pitch for the game. Jetpacks, Wall-jumping, giant mechs, made by creators of MW.

Destiny, on the other hand, Bungie's been really conservative on the things they're sharing. They've teased a lot of stuff, but also hold back in terms of sharing with all the unique aspects of their game outside of the things that feel like Borderlands.
