We are now just over two weeks away from the first Halo appearance on Xbox One! Today, 343 Industries in conjunction with Vanguard Games announced that Halo: Spartan Assault will be available worldwide for digital download on December 24th for $14.99. The Xbox 360 version will follow in January 2014.

Good news for those that have already purchased Halo: Spartan Assault for Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 – anyone who purchases the game on one of those platforms before December 15th will be eligible to purchase the Xbox One version of the game at the discounted price of $4.99.

Xbox Wire Q&A

Q&A says its native 1080p/60fps for those interested.

Co-op mode sounds cool:

Dan Ayoub: Co-op will work through Xbox Live and will allow you to play with a friend. We wanted to do something completely new for the game that featured really crazy action against waves of enemies. For this reason, we’re putting you up against the Flood! Players will work together against huge waves of enemies bearing down on them. The mode is heavily focused on teamwork and victory can only be attained by working together. Co-op is a ridiculous amount of fun, and people in early testing have really enjoyed playing it.

Achievements on 360/One

Later than i'd hoped by like a week but can't wait

If you already have it for win8 or Win8 phone make sure you log into xbl with a valid profile by Dec 15th to take advantage of the discount.

Oh cool. I already own it for my phone so 5$ for an XB1 version that has co-op? Yes please.

This game got a lot of flak around its original release, but I'm legitimately looking forward to getting my hands on this game. December and January are rather dry for XB1 anyways.

$4.99 is basically the price of the game on Windows Phone AND Windows 8, what the hell. Hey Microsoft... You have a universal account system, use it, I already bought Spartan Assault TWICE, on Windows Phone 8 ($7.99) and Windows 8 (another $7.99). Do I really need to pay another $4.99? Ugh... Sad thing is I'll pay the $4.99 anyways, just because I want the game... I would have actually paid the $14.99 as well... Was bracing myself for $19.99 actually.

The prices for Xbox Live games on Xbox One are insane.

I really don't feel like the co-op addition and a couple of extra weapons (do we even know what was added?) warrants more than doubling the price from the W8 version.

I guess it doesn't help that I don't think it's much fun to begin with.

Why is the X360 version coming late?

Presumably its releasing a little later than they wanted to on Xbox One (I don't believe they intended to release it on Christmas Eve personally) so they made sure they got that one done and they'll finish the 360 version for next month.

Well..At least they're giving it to those that purchased on W8/WP8 for 5 bucks. I purchased it on Wp8 and W8 so I was hoping free but I'll bite.

Cross Buy at a discount is a good step, it's not like the development of the game is free. We'd all prefer "free", but yay for 67% discount!

...which doesn't apply to me, because I have no Win 8 devices :/ Unless it can be purchased on Win 7 somehow?

The real disappointment for me, however? Does it REALLY not have Local Co-Op? REALLY? A top-down Twin-Stick without Local 2P? Online Co-Op doesn't even look like it's doing anything Online-friendly, such as allowing you to move beyond a screen's distance from each other.

Then XB1 allows for up to 8 controllers locally, yet we have to worry about getting even 2P locally into a game such as this. Meh.

Was wondering when we would get this. Super excited, will need to hook up with some fellow GAFers from some Co-Op since most of my friends are still on the 360 :(

How much was the PC version at launch? $7-$8?

I guess I'm still getting it for under the full price on console for the extra $5, maybe I'll actually play it this time!

Wish the 360 version wasn't so far away.

First tragedy, then farce.
From what I understand the biggest issue on tablet was controls.

So hopefully this will work better here. I mean, it's a twin stick shooter. You would think having sticks would help.

Awesome Day 1. Speaking of Halo on XB1 has it been confirmed that the Fall Halo title will be Xbox One only and not on the 360? I sure as hell hope its an XB1 exclusive so it is not held back.
