PS4 system update 1.52 coming soon

I'd like these sorted

- Pulse Elite wireless headset support
- Fix for inconsistent start of Auto Recording of gameplay (in most cases it never records anything at this stage)
- Fix for not uploading game saves to PS+, mine haven't uploaded since Thursday the 5th.

Hopefully they fix the issue with share button recording the wrong sections of video..

I've been trying to get some attention on this bug over on the community forums. if you guys post your problems we might be able to get some more eyes on this issue.

You probably just haven't pushed the plug all the way in, just like everyone else I've seen complaining about this so far. You need to push a bit harder to get the last bit to "snap" in. Then you'll have a good connection and everything will work.
I have to push and hold it in quite firmly for it to detect it, but as soon as I let loose it stops working.

Screenshots are now taken instantly after you input the command. Before, the screenshot didn't register until a second or two after the icon appeared.

Still delayed.

Well, it still takes a while for the PS4 to take the screenshot.

Updated without issues. My system definitely feels more stable. Thank you Sony, for your wonderfully descriptive release notes.

How long should it say "Preparing to install..." for?

I didn't download it in standby, I turned the console on and downloaded it through Notifications.

Edit: Oh nevermind it's installing now.

Again, are you sure it's actually in all the way? It takes quite a bit of force for me to get it in the last bit, but then it's super tight. Here, I made a photo comparison:

Not in all the way (even though it feels like it is):

pretty big update aye? 323mbs.

I'm sure we're just downloading the entire thing every time. As in, this is just the original 1.50 update with the 1.52 stuff included.

This is just a guess on my part though. They eventually fixed this with the PS3 where you just downloaded the new updates and it became much faster.

man I don't know if I could ever get used to how the PS4 installs it's updates...it scares the shit out of me that it might not turn back on.

thank god most of the time it updates itself when I'm asleep.

Can't notice anything different yet. I appreciate it probably tidied up lots of things behind the scenes though.

I'd be impressed if we get another update before January now, being so close to Christmas.

It never updates itself during standby. It only downloads the update. You still have to manually install it.

That actually did make it work! I'm surprised it didn't go all the way in before even when I pushed it in quite firmly. Anyway, thanks a lot.
Now for the bluetooth update to come out so I can get rid of the wire. :p

Other random question: is there a way to check on the controller's battery life aside from the pop-up the comes up when you turn it on?
Edit: Never mind, just found out you can see it if you hold the PS button.

Haha, just as I thought... You're like the 4th or 5th person I've helped with this exact issue. People just don't push hard enough! But you're welcome. :)

bleh, I see your controller has that ugly plastic transition next to the speaker too. it makes it look like the controller has been in use for 5+ years.

Huh, hadn't really even noticed that before. But yeah, doesn't look too awesome.

My console came with 1.50. I think that was only for the EU launch though. Or at least, only the models that were in production since October.

My EU(UK) was 1.00, don't know manufacture date.

This was always expected just before Asian launch just like 1.51 was jst before EU launch.

I just hope the next one isn't jus before Japan launch (it won't be)

Just updated, and it seems to have fixed an issue I had outputting 5.1 audio to my surround sound via optical. The sound used to skip intermittently - now it doesn't.

Hooray!

there is no way to do this, the PS4 needs to check the game disc before it starts or people could abuse the system.

But then it spins the disc up again when you actually start the game. So why does it have to do it when the console boots? Ok, maybe it needs to do it so it can show that the game is actually in the system before you start it (but then why does it have to do it again when you start the game?), but it's still pretty annoying. And it keeps spinning for so damn long, like a minute or more (first at maximum speed, then at a lower speed for a while). Shouldn't a simple disc check be faster than that?
