Battlefield 4 PS4 multiplayer issues

Wonder why I've had no crashes since the first big patch and others have? Consider myself lucky.

It's variable and I don't think anyone's quite sure why. I've had maybe a dozen total crashes in ~25 hours of play and very few since the first major patch, while I've seen others getting 5+ per session.

framerate has nothing to do with your connection.

I see so many people calling framerate drops "lag". It wouldn't surprise me if the two things are merging in people's minds.

First tragedy, then farce.
The Xbox One was a nightmare the last 2 days.

The patch went out and things have gotten worse for me. I got in one half game of conquest yesterday.

FFS DICE.

On the upside, I'm playing a lot more AC4. So that's fun.

My 50 dollars for premium is kind of hurting though.

In gameplay both things are pretty bad so I don't see much of a difference between the two in practice. For the most part, this game doesn't have framerate issues aside from when a big structure comes down. I've seen a ton of lag sometimes lasting a few seconds when this happens as well. When I forget to turn off uTorrent, I've noticed a ton of crazy lagy and rubberbanding and that is worse than any framerate stutters I've had so your bandwidth and ping to server definitely has a role in how the game performs.

I'm not sure how you can possibly know you have 500ms lag, well you would know because the game would be completely unplayable.

Because my game freezes in place every couple seconds for half a second, that's how. And yes it is completely unplayable.

Thanks for the tips but i've already tested my connection and it's fine. I believe the lag is caused by the poor matchmaking that puts NA players in EU servers and vice versa.

How bad is the frame rate in this game?

Its actually quite good with spotty issues in Conquest Large.

"The PS4's strong performance lead is the real clincher though; a wide 10fps margin flaring up for most of our campaign mode tests. The comedown hits, however, once you realise that neither platform can pull off a straight 60fps during the larger Conquest multiplayer maps, where most of the fun is to be had. Regardless, a clear-as-day recommendation still goes to the PS4 version, and while there are glitches on both consoles that need to be addressed, the embracing of seamless, behind-the-scenes updates should at least ease some of Battlefield 4's growing pains."

Note: Xbox One runs at 720p, while the PS4 is at a higher 900p resolution. (And the PS4 version still trumps it in the fps department)

I feel like I'm dying much much faster after the patch. It's like CoD in there!

Also, I feel like it's literally impossible to get the 3 Jet Fighter ribbons for the UCAV. 4 hours I spent trying to get just one with no luck!

Why DICE?! WHY?!?!

Even my 7950 lagged in conquest mode...nothing shocking. I wonder how bad it gets in the ps4 build

On PS4 is butter smooth with the exception of Conquest Large.
Dunno about anyone else but even on rush, happened maybe 3 times since the games release, the framerate would tank to the 20s easy for about 7-10 seconds then jump back up. Not lag, not rubberbanding, just a flat drop for no reason.

There was a bug that got fixed that it was about framerate drops related to levolution.
Never had that issue personally.

Rubber banding isn't your lag time that's more to do with packet loss and error correction causing the freezes.

Oh man, I've been suffering from some major lag this week. This is just so damn frustrating when you start shooting someone first and but it's me who gets killed instantly and the enemy runs away with perfect health or at least 75 health. And 75 % of my deaths have been like this today: I start shooting an enemy but they just keep on moving until I run out of bullets and a second later their team mate kills me with two bullets.

Has anyone gotten the companion app to work with this game?

I just tried out Commander mode for the first time yesterday and I was impressed with how fun it was. I would like to play on a second screen if I could.

haha, never had any problems with battlefield, installed the new patch yesterday, bam my very first crash but it didn't stop there, lost connection ingame 3x, server browser wouldn't suddenly work anymore and heavy lag where the session would freeze only to wake up that I'm suddenly dead.

That patch literally broke my game, it was buttery smooth for me.
Guess my lucky charm is over, welcome to Battlefield.

Game has been perfect for me since the patch. Played 5 hours tonight all on conquest large, even played an entire round of both Flood Zone and Dawnbreaker and didn't even lag let alone crash (they were 100% crash maps for me, as well as Locker).

Hopefully the crashing is 100% fixed now.

Haven't played BF4 this afternoon, but much earlier this morning Battlelog got updated.

The thing that I find is the biggest problem is Battlelog's Battlescreen on PC often won't sync up to bring up the map.

Battlelog itself will always connect PS4 servers but too often Battlescreen won't work.

Hopefully things are better now.

I like the China Rising maps and hopefully Second Assault gets released for PS4/PC sometime in Q1 2014.

Parcel storm & keep taking down the enemy Gunship, took me two matches.

Anybody know when the CR maps unlock for the people that had the code? I swore it's been two weeks and I still can't play it. Once me to buy the damn DLC.

And my save game for single player is gone...again. WTF

Wow, actually played the game last night for a few hours without crashing. Stroke of luck or did they actually fix some shit?

Have a question, I pre ordered the ps3 version of bf4 on psn. It says I will get china rising for free, does this hold true for the ps4 version too? Can I just download it for free immediately or do I need to get the ps3 dlc first and then go for ps4? How does this work exactly, can I just download from PSN? It is mentioned nowhere.
No man, I played 8 hrs yesterday without a crash. Something has definitely been fixed or significantly improved at the very least.

Sometimes it does if people cant tell the difference between the two. I admit sometimes its hard for me to tell. With lag or rubberbanding the game can appear if the franerate is taking a shit too(gets very jerky), cause it stutters and isn't smooth. The lines definitely do blur occasionally.

PS4 China Rising is unlocked in North America, and I'd imagine, in Europe as well.

If you've already redeemed your code for free PS4 CR:

Goto the PlayStation Store > New > Add-Ons > New Add-Ons (all the way to the right) > BF4 China Rising > Choose a Version > Add-On Content > Download.

They don't make it very obvious or simple.

Played four matches of conquest earlier today. Game ran pretty smooth except for when the dam broke on Lancang Dam ( which was the first time I had seen it ). I even got to play through the building collapsing on Shanghai without a hitch, but I was also really far away from it. game has definitely improved, but they still need to fix the party up system, or rather, ADD ONE.

You can get straight to China Rising on the BF4 icon on the start menu. Go down to related items and it should be there, with BF Premium.

Alright so two weeks later after China Rising came out on PS4, I still cannot play it. I have premium and whenever I try to join a server, it just continuously loads without end. I reinstalled the whole game, dlc, everything. Nothing works. None of the patches fixed it and EA support just brushed me off.

Anyone have this problem? Solution?

Played a few rounds today big improvement. Game is great when it works. Had a few lag spikes here and there but everything was good to go. Might grab premium is this holds up for a week.

I personally cannot stand using the PS4 in-game server browser.

If you have even a cheap Windows PC/laptop use Better Battlelog http://getbblog.com/en/ for your web browser. I use Chrome, haven't tried it with IE, FireFox or Opera yet.

It's far easier to do everything for your PS4 soilder that way, from managing your Battlelog, to multiplayer / server browser, and having the 2nd screen for the Battlescreen map is a massive plus.

I know you mentioned you've deleted/reinstalled the game but have you done the same with premium?

Ok 12 hours of straight 64 man conquest.

0 main crashes and just 1 server crash on locker. (No crashes on multiple games on siege and dawnbreaker)

I had 1 instance where i died due to an incredible amount of server lag where the person who was directly in front of me.. Eating point blank shots didnt actually receive any damage and while i was reloading to try again.. Boom turns around and kills me.

Other than that i haven't even been one shot in all of my games.

A big issue thats been present since launch is the revive bug where no matter how many times you attempt, some people just cant be revived, which needs to be fixed still.

Also for the first time today i started getting another bug where the revive screen would stay present, even after i have accepted, taking up about 30% of my vision on screen and nearly covering the crosshairs -.-

But not crashing for 12 hours worth of games straight is beyond a first in all of my 167 hours.

Well I just started playing the PS4 version this morning. Played for around 4 hours and there's some frame drops on 64 player maps. Other than that, it's been quite good. Looks like most of the launch problems have been solved?

Am I the only one that can't play China Rising? I downloaded it, and when I go to play a server with CR maps in rotation it just brings me to the purchase screen at the store, and when I click purchase, it says content not found.

:/

I don't have Premium so I found it the way I did.

Sony and EA really need to make things clear about a.) where the DLC expansions are, b) what PS4 specific owners can get and when, and for how much with and without Premium, etc.

It is all EXTREMELY confusing.

That actually irritates me more than the moderate amount of problems I''ve personally experienced with BF4 itself.
