A Dreamcast emulator was released for Android devices - Reicast

The Shenmue series is another one that would do well on mobile if done right. (Shenmue Gai was not done right.)

Mini games, day/night system. Time to play.

Use VGA or VGA > (Magic Something) > HDMI. So worth it!*

*except for those games that won't run on it without a boot disc to trick it. Hello V8: Second Offense

Doesn't this require the SVGA adapter from Sega? Last time I looked they were going for hundreds of dollars on Ebay and Craigslist. Is there an alternate way to hook up the DC to HDMI?

I can't think of any DC games I'm desperate to play that aren't available elsewhere except Shenmue... Which I don't want to play on my tablet or phone anyway.

PSO would be a no-brainer if it wasn't for Blue Burst with private servers on PC. And Skies is best played on Dolphin; I can't go back to the more tedious DC version.

Still really cool that this exists.

you forgot about Zombie Revenge

everyone forgets about Zombie Revenge :(

about the only thing I can say is "hey, the penny-arcade guys acknowledged enjoying it in co-op once." It's a pretty fun and somewhat advanced brawler.

Did a better controller solution ever come out for Ouya? Sorry to derail the thread.

360 controllers work in the USB slot.

Oh my, Shield would be perfect! Does it have good emulator support?

So far; pre-NES all the way to PS1 is supported nearly perfectly. PSP emulator just got a huge speed boost update that enables most of the library to run fairly well. Handhelds up to DS otherwise.

Dreamcast support would tie a knot around this as the greatest handheld for retro gaming of all time.

I think I need to consider a switch to Android eventually. But I also use Apple TV to stream from my bedroom PC to the living room TV using my iPhone or ipad. It's a daunting task to make a complete switch.

Chromecast + Android > iOS + Apple TV ... sadly.

This coming from an iPhone 5 user.

My tablet is probably too weak, at least I still have a Dreamcast.

Edit: The Shield would beast this thing huh? Too bad I don't own one.

Sure, but we are still talking about my already heavy ecosystem investment, phone contract, and tablet/TV system purchases. It's a brick wall keeping me from making a move.

I understand 100%. I want to make the switch myself but I'm in your exact same shoes, in fact I might be getting an apple tv for christmas even.

Shenmue runs at a fine speed. I'm not sure I'd call it playable with how many graphical glitches it has though. xD

Edit: I'm on a S4 for reference.

Edit 2: Tried Sonic Adventure and it plays really well, with only very minor graphical glitches. Unfortunately I find it rather unplayable with the virtual analog stick though. :(

Controller support works out of the box, confirmed on the TF300T (similar to ouya in gpu, tegra 3) with USB OTG and a Logictech dual wired, and yeah, it works mostly great on my device with Sonic Adventure.

Unless you have a certain brand of CD-ROM drive, I don't think any computer can read the GD-ROM discs. As I understand it, you need to use a serial cable running from your Dreamcast to your PC alongside some other hacked software running on the DC in order to get the rips. And oh boy, do those rips take a while...

Whelp, thats that then. I still have my DC games in the basement somewhere, but Ill be damned. Rather just pull out the old tube TV than to endure rips via serial lmao.

seems pretty rough but then even the actual DC emu scene kinda tapered off, last i checked i didn't feel it was at full system replacement level yet...Saturn took a decade or so but it got there.

still, this is pretty good progress for early on, promising stuff! always happy to see more people playing the best system ever made, in one form or another.

Stupid question, don't suppose anyone's tried the Japanese Sakura Wars games on this? I have the SW1-4 Limited Edition box set for the DC, would love to be able to play them again.

I'm thinking of picking up my first tablet on boxing day week, and I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (7.0). How well would this emulator run on it?

I never had a dreamcast and really would like to play some of its games finally. Especially Shenmue.

NVIDIA SHIELD TIME BABY

SONIC ADVENTURE

PHANTASY STAR ONLINE ON THE GO

That would be amazing. Ohhh, I hope it works well on the Shield.

Seeing the Third Strike attract sequence on my tablet was a beautiful thing. Sadly the sprites are a bit janky at present but for an early release this is very promising - runs very smoothly indeed, the audio seems spot on and I'm pretty sure I should be able to use the cable I use with my DualShock 3 for emulators to get my Qanba recognised with it.
