Dice, who had worked with Steam before, helped connect XSEED to Valve for Ys Origin and Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which quickly became two of XSEEDs biggest sellers ever.
Wait Steam is getting the SEQUEL also, I though it was just getting a port if the first trails Day 1, the first was awesome on psp
Nothing confirmed, but they are considering it.Have Xseed said anything about the PS3 versions of Trails?
Can you get the first chapter in English on PC or ps3?
I can see that being a problem. Hard to get new fans into the trilogy if the first chapter is not also going to be on steam.
The dialogue is what makes it so great. Anyone who wants to play a JRPG to be totally immersed in a world, Trails is the perfect series for them.DIALOGUE

I gave up on TiTs after about 1.5 hours.

Estelle is a bit over the top sometimes, but I think the cast in general is very well rounded. One thing I love about the Trails series is that even when a character is a common trope, they are so well done, that you don't mind it at all. It's like they are showing you how they should be done.Yeah, it's funny, I'm totally that kind of person, but I just couldn't believe how extreme TiTS was. I love text-heavy games in general, but it was just.. yeah. I can see how people would like it though, if they like the characters (I didn't; thought they were way too cartoony).
How much longer is the second game compared to the first?
Early 2014 is all we know so far.So excite. When is First Chapter coming to Steam? Has to be soon if the plan is to release Second Chapter by summer.
On the other hand we did have games like Torment that were very dialogue dependent and are cult classics on PC and I think one of the better performing games on GOG I believe, and for the other half the equation Xcom's been very popular on PC even today. There's really no guarantee there'd be significant overlap naturally, but I think when you have games with each of those components (very anime, turn based, story heavy) doing well on PC, and frequently at that, Trails in the Sky probably won't have too much difficulty. If anything I'd say PC's more friendly to turn based stuff than consoles, the lion's share of Xcom sales were on PC as I recall. All of those examples are action RPGs. None of them are particularly story-driven either. It will be interesting to see if a turn-based, story-heavy JRPG can achieve success too.
Maybe you would've needed to have played some Golden Sun before hand, preferably Dark Dawn. Not actually get through it, that'd just burn you out, but the first hour or two to give some appreciation for Falcom doing at least a GOOD job whereas Golden Sun was just WORDS WORDS WORDS with nothing to say and characters so completely unremarkable or outright unlikable you're left wondering why they ever gave a fuck about writing that much.Yeah, it's funny, I'm totally that kind of person, but I just couldn't believe how extreme TiTS was. Well, I think some comments by others called those requirements into question, there's been VERY few potential test cases, and while it wasn't sold individually we did get Castle of Illusion's Genesis version without trophies. Combine that with how SCEA historically loosens up as the generation comes to a close (or so it usually looks when games like Eternal Eyes and Chulip come over) and I think there's a sliver of a chance of it working out. Still, I'm not particularly optimistic and more than ready to settle with PC as the "HD" version. There's some problems with those ports. As they're part of the PSP Remaster program they don't have any trophies, and the western SCE branches require trophies. Tom said they're looking into it, and if they can release them they likely will.

If they publish the game digitally on PSN for the PSP, then it will be available to those who have a Vita as well?
If that is the case, will the item in the shop be easily visible to those with the Vita? Or is it tucked away in a sub menu?
Well, it is dependent on SCEA, but they'd been good about day and date Vita/PSP launches as of late.It will be available to download on the vita just like the first game was.

Probably would be under new releases actually, I think even some games just freshly made available on Vita but had been on the store forever showed up under new releases. And if it takes off on Steam that's where the lion's share of sales will be anyway. And probably tucked away in the PSP menu like the first is. Never seen them feature a PSP game on the front page.

I liked the story, it's evocative of the best of Lunar and Grandia but with better world building, and it sounds like it only gets better from here albeit less light hearted it seems. The start can be slow though, the characters will carry it then more than the story itself.I'm interested to get this game. Was quite amazed by the large number of script this game had. But the most important things, are the story interesting? I don't really want to play a game with tons of boring story. What do gaf think about this game?
Ohh how does the story pans out? Is it a standard linear experience or more similar to visual novel where your choices alter the stories?
The Last Remnant has done very well on Steam, too.All of those examples are action RPGs. None of them are particularly story-driven either. It will be interesting to see if a turn-based, story-heavy JRPG can achieve success too.

And this part of why Steam may give the series a second wind and establish it outside of Japan. The other part being that there's probably a lot of potential players who refuse to touch a PSP/Vita which may be a problem when we get to Zero and Ao.Hmm, the first chapter is on PSP right? Found it on Amazon. I do have a PSP, but I want a PC version because of bigger screen. I primary play RPGs for story, so I am pretty hyped. Can't believe I haven't heard of this series.
Let's worry about that when we get there. XDAnd this part of why Steam may give the series a second wind and establish it outside of Japan. The other part being that there's probably a lot of potential players who refuse to touch a PSP/Vita which may be a problem when we get to Zero and Ao.
I really think Steam will finally let this series get the exposure it deserves.

This is my actual question, will such a game be easily accessible and visible to PS Vita owners?
I think it could be worth it actually if Zero and Ao get PS3 ports, then the whole series will be on that platform and so they can try to build up the base there by the time we reach Sen no Kiseki and its sequel. Heck, just going from 3rd to Sen may justify it, even if people need to take a detour on Vita to play Zero/Ao.I'm confident Sony must be relaxing some of those restrictions now (as they did with PS1 and PS2 after their successors were released) but I wouldn't really blame XSEED if pushing on that wasn't a practical use of their time.
Wow this is immensely exciting. I've seen so much advertising for these games (in Japan) and am a big fan of the art. Hope we'll see more in 2014!
I don't think any JRPG released on Steam has not been successful.Perhaps. Has any JRPG succeeded on Steam in the past?
I don't think any JRPG released on Steam has not been successful.
True, but I don't think you can blame that on a lack of success of previously released games.OTOH, there haven't been that many of them released (yet).

I am almost certain that Ghostlight is doing another port (or I guess "having another port done" would be more accurate).
XSEED is hoping to get both versions of SC out next summer
