Microsoft: Xbone vs PS4 spec difference is fairly marginal

I'm not easy to convince but Bowman already got me at "exclusive content". If he would have said "experience" I'd buy an Xbone right now.

Does the XB1 really not have Bluetooth? That cant be true..............

yep. fairly marginal.

While it may not be true on paper, in practice the difference is marginal. Nobody is going to care about 900p vs 1080p, or slightly lower AA. The games are the exact same otherwise.

Price OTOH does matter. A lot. And the difference there is far greater than marginal. MS needs to get rid of the damn kinect if they want any chance of holding on to the US market. Once ps4 supply issues are sorted out, things are going to get ugly for the xbone really fast.

'Nobody'? Really? So all the people who own both consoles will willingly buy the inferior version if given the choice? As the generation goes on, more and more people will own both. And more and more people will end up going with the PS4 versions of multi-platform games if the differences remain as they are.

Well, when the technichal gap between first party exclusives will be significant then we'll ask them if it's either incompetence or unwillingness to work hard.

Look. PR.

Are we surprised at this? It's their job to spin stuff. It's like being outraged that Domino's says they have the "best pizza."

People will laugh at this, but it's just as laughable for those people that seem to think the differences are much bigger than what they actually are.

If they were smart, they'd never bring it up. The spec game is lost, pick something else that you can trump the competition on.

Having PR mouthpieces like this spout nonsense is only going to put the spotlight on them more.

Yep, the original interview is in a xbox mag aswell, "DON"T ASK ME QUESTIONS ABOUT SPECS FFS ASK ME ABOUT TITANFALL AND HALO 5"

Both consoles can play the same third party games, so in that sense it's marginal. 1080p vs 720p is not marginal for image quality purposes (especially for the average GAF poster). 1080p vs 900p ain't so bad, though. I still see myself going with XB1 for certain multi-platform games with exclusive content (I guess I'm part of the problem).

While I agree with this sentiment. I'm assuming this was an interview and he was asked a question and what else could he say really?

Lol, just like the good 'ol pre-launch times ;) But now we know the truth, the real one not the one Major was babbling about. Thread will be closed in 3..2..

I guess It's as marginal as the sales and price gap.

We think our products are great, you should too.

The fact Microsoft feels the need to marginalize the differences is proof enough it is anything but.

Well, they do have a point. For multi-platform games where the devs don't optimize for the platforms, it probably will be a pretty marginal thing. But for exclusives and games where the devs put in the time/work to optimize the platforms, I suspect it will be noticeable.

But how much difference is there today between PS3 and X360 games? I suspect the PS3 hardware is more than marginally better than the x360 but for most multi-platform games, it really doesn't matter which version you get.

I am ready to see what ps devs do with the ps4 on exclusives but I think we will see third party games pretty close like NSF rivals close.

fixed

that's funny how some games are actually the same but a slight few are different, you would think it was the developer's decision or something...hmmm

Yup, first thing someone notices in a racing game, the crowd lol

I would normally agree with you on this... but sometimes the race starts in cockpit view and the first thing you see is a closeup of the 2D crowd. It's pretty horrific. Good game, though.
