Yeah, I know that. You know that. We all know that. But letting Microsoft have a victory in December in the biggest market in the world is very stupid IMO.

They concentrated their efforts on NA, but couldn't just let the others hang dry. Not being able to meet demand sucks in the short term, but they will get there while receiving free press as well.

You need to look at your own post history sometime. For someone who doesn't care about sales, you seem to pop up in a lot of sales threads.

Did I say so?

If you look at my post history I once said that since discovering Neogaf, I got trapped into caring about sales.

I never knew how bad the GC was selling until Gaf and I enjoyed the fuck out of it.

kh1.5 ~ 438k
tox ~ 156k
miku ~ 16k
TLOU ~ 1473k
gowa ~ 783k
sly ~ 208k
ni no kuni ~ 329k

Great numbers for TLOU, better than I thought for GoW, and pretty good numbers for Sly considering it's not really a popular franchise and it received no marketing whatsoever over here..

Happy that Sly 4 did over 200k (even if that doesn't seem too hot). Never thought it would've gotten that high.

And wasn't the player count for GoW:A calculated to be 2.8 million because of that trophy tweet? Sold a lot less than that, wow

I was remembering a little wrong, but at the Sony press conference at E3 2013, Jack Tretton stated that 60% of Vita game sales are made on the Playstation Store. Wouldn't be surprised if it's even higher now as less and less places stock physical copies of Vita games.

I have no trouble believing that the retail:digital sales ratio is somewhat better on Vita than other platforms, but not to nearly a 1.5:1 ratio.

I figured you were thinking of what Tretton said, but that quote is missing a lot of necessary context: whether download-only games were included, whether PS1/PSP games were included, whether PS+ downloads are included, and whether it was based on unit sales or revenue.

One of the UK execs, Fergal Gara, went on record earlier this week as saying that "[m]ore Vita games are still consumed through physical game cards than they are through digital," so while that's a different region, I'm pretty certain that the Tretton quote wasn't referring only to retail releases.

I know it's strange. But I could see the WiiU doing well in the future as people have picked up an PS4/XB1 and throw in a WiiU later to fill out the Mario/Zelda games. Not blockbusters, but just steady and decent sales.

Surprised with how good Ni no Kuni did. I guess the West is starved for a decent classic jRPG.

It seemed quite mediocre time honestly.

Sonic Lost World on Wii U LTD please. :)

Edit: Ahh, ask, and ye shall find! :D

82k eh? It did 30k on both platforms combined in Oct right? If that 82k is just Wii U, that's pretty spiffy averaging like 41k a full month, the 30k combined was from the very short Oct NPD right? Which would would be an even 15k each version in Oct if they were so, but somehow I kinda figure it'd favor the Wii U version, considering the exposure and such, but hey it could be the other way around!

Surprisingly good numbers for Sly and Nino.

GoW3 sold more in one month than Ascension ltd.

TLoU is the biggest new franchise entering the next generation.

For the price of a Wii U + Zelda, you could alternatively buy 6 AAA games.

KH1.5 is beasting. Impressive number. And TLOU sold really well.
Maybe the March 2013 article had it wrong then? That'd be pretty crazy if retail and digital sales percentages actually swapped places within the span of a few months.
I highly doubt games available at retail would get 60% of its sales through digital.

The retail musing thread was way, way off. Boxes on shelves obviously don't mean zero sales.

I didn't read all of it because most of it is completely mental but it seemed like most sane people were saying that the xb1 was primed to win December (which they did) but it wasn't an amazing accomplishment because they had more systems than supply. Which means they had great supply. I don't agree with the it not being a great accomplishment part personally. I know they lost major, major, ground on their home turf but they sold a good number of consoles at a higher price point. I was +1 for the xb1 in December. It's a surprisingly good system. Despite Microsoft proper fucking shit up left and right the final product is solid.

Though I'm sure you're right that there are Sony fanboys who predicted like 2.5 mil for the ps4 and 0 for the xb1 because they saw units on shelves and don't have the compacity for critical thought.

Those are Wii U LTDs.

It sold a good 72K on other platforms that may (definitely) not have been achieved on the Wii U.

All I'm saying is that the Wii U version should've come out in February when the game was finished to maximize sales on the platform that would be more kind to a platformer and then they could've released the other version when they were finished or something.

If they plan to support the handheld, they should drop OLED model, bring 2000 model with the price dropped to $150 with an 8GB card and Minecraft/Tearaway bundled.

Announcing some games would be helpful too. Games on the same scope from Tearaway, with smaller teams. Continue localizing japanese games and bringing indies like they are doing already.

Maybe it's my wishful thinking part talking here.

SCEA don't know what a Vita is. I doubt any of the studios (in SCEA) are working on any Vita games that are not cross platform.
