LOL that ending. Let's hope Seki-kun doesn't meet Table-kun from Code Geass.

...and where are people watching this OAD thing? It's not on Crunchyroll.

Its in the battle shounen area? Of the three episodes it feels more like a better done fantasy supernatural type of story with action as one of its well least focused upon themes, I though.
They have superpower, fighting with monster, and soon duel with each other!
Yeah its battle manga.
Tell that to A-1, or Toei, or Production IG. :p

I think all of them produce some gem here and there and better than BONES outing in last 5 year.

All of its "charisma" feels like the hackneyed hacking up of the idealized dumpy and lust driven adventurer I've seen a million times before.
Hm, I don't feel that way at all. The charisma I'm referring to is mainly in the shows veneer. I think the 2nd episode demonstrated it best with the various ramen shops set throughout the universe with an eclectic array of aliens hosting them. The exploding colors and space stations turned shopping malls and small ships turned tiny ramen huts was really quaint.

Though I do enjoy the characters too. Hackneyed, shallow and miserable pretty adequately describe the crew of the Aloha Oe, but the particular brand of wallowing is amusing. The visual of Meow's position as a repugnant stowaway packed into a closet full of amazon boxes and illuminated by a small computer is especially entertaining.

I think my biggest worry of the show is it's capacity to stay fresh. I already felt in episode three that it might be treading water with Dandy and boobies. I'm excited to see some of the other bigger name writing talent get their hands on it. Dai Sato did a really solid job.

This. From the New World is in my top three.

I am powering through Yamato 2199, and I am trying to figure out what show I should try to squeeze in before the end of voting for AOTY 13.

I saw Inferno Cop, Aku no Hana, From the New World, Kill La Kill. That's it, as far as I can recall. What else should I aim to watch?

Eccentric Family

Tell that to A-1, or Toei, or Production IG. :p

Silver Spoon is pretty good!

*At an onsen*

Katsuragi: "Oh? Ikaruga, haven't you become bigger again?"
Ikaruga: "Huh? Eh? W, what is that? What do you mean?"
Katsuragi: "What I mean is the same as usual. Hee hee hee hee."
Katsuragi: "I'll just confirm it. Let me see now..."
Ikaruga: "S, stop it please! Everyone is watching!"
Katsuragi *husky voice*: "If so, let's confirm it somewhere no-one can see."

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
Almost forgot
Log Horizon episode 14
very tense episode, cant wait to see what happens next, I think the rookies would be super not useful, they can prove me wrong tho.

Hunter x Hunter (2011) 63

I feel as if I should question just how Gon managed to get lumps on his hair, because that shit is nightmare fuel inducing.

I think the whole training segment felt longer in the manga, because we're pretty much blasting through it here.... granted its been a while since I've read it, and training generally makes me feel like it lasts for a while.

Animate vendors had the Fate/Zero blu-rays for $120. Each season.
I just... what.

I want them, but I haven't paid that much for an anime since Sailor Moon uncut, and that was at least the entire season. Not 12. episodes.

There has to be a better way.

Well 2 people here just paid around 400 bucks (IIRC) for Gurren Lagan boxset.

Aniplex pricing baby.

[Kill la Kill] - 14

It continued the laziness, but the school-raid at least made it feel as though something was happening. The show has been going off on multiple tangents, none of which have been all that interesting, so it was nice to see them at least (attempt) to frame the main conflict again.

To me, Kill la Kill should ostensibly be about that clash of styles/ideals - Satsuki is Ryoko's foil, yet they rarely interact. The former is just boringly perfect, and oddly detached from the whole thing - whereas the latter is really rote, and it's difficult to feel any sort of progression in her character.

This episode leaves me optimistic for what it suggests, rather than what was actually on display.

As an aside, I really like the way they portray technology in this, with the monochrome displays. It's a neat touch, and reminds me that I really do like the aesthetic, even if it does have a tendency to be badly conveyed.

Sounds like a steal. Kagari paid over 600 bucks or something!

This goes way too fast. It doesn't seem to care about letting its characters establish themselves or even about having a decent throughline. Unrelated scenes pass each other by without any transition, and almost every shot ends a couple of seconds early, the pacing ending up completely broken. This doesn't do any favours to the gimmicky tone exuded by the show; it worked in ep 1 thanks to the cinematic feeling of the production and good balance of set pieces against quirky character scenes. Episode 2 was completely devoid of dramatic intent and for the most part just felt like a bunch of scenes squashed togeter to make the runtime.
If they want to make episodic cases they'll have to refrain from cramming so much things at once because it'll never become engaging this way. If they want to have longer arcs, they will have to put more work into the character interactions.

Eagerly awaiting the Utsunomiya ep but I don't think I'll be following this one otherwise.

huh, berserk Ryoko was pretty cool like an Ed Roth Rat Fink creation. Liked that sense of her being a part of Senketsu rather than just using his power. return of his monstrous form was neat too as I thought it was just a throwaway visual gag from earlier.

liked Mako's character growth even if it was prety thin, can't stand the new loli antagonist. think i'd like the 4:3 flashbacks too if there weren't so damn many of them too. whatever though, caught up on 2013 KLK for my purposes.

In general, I like seeing a show have the guts to pull the trigger on a character death, and typically I don't like seeing a bait and switch when they don't, but I was too upset at the prospect of Sanada dying to care.

I went on a $60 budget. I was an indulgence I simply couldn't afford. If it had been the whole series, I might have bit.

Those are gorgeous sets though. Drool-worthy art.

Those sets were the re-release with the dub.

The original release cost around $700.

I know the feeling too. I want to buy the show but I never spent that much on a set before.

Time to start growing as a person, Chiaki! Work on those people skills! Turns out Milk is a decent guy after all. Sort of.

Agreed. I'd usually shake my head at that sort of thing, but I felt as though the show had built up more than enough goodwill with me at that point.
Plus, Sananda!

I'm maybe a little embarrassed to admit that at that point, I did expect him to survive, but it'd be with the revelation that he was actually a robot all along! I'd say it was down to the red-herring placed in the earlier episode, but it was more as a result of the various cutaways of his reactions. In a show that is often so expressive with its characters, his stoicism was really noticeable.

I tended to pay a little more attention I probably should have, but that's by virtue of the presentation itself.

The second part was better than i expected after the start.

Inari%2C%20Konkon%2C%20Koi%20Iroha%20-%2001.jpg

Surprise !

The god is alright , the main girl needs some life lessons ( it's going to happen , isn't it ) and so far it's quite alright .

Will keep watching

Hunter x Hunter (2011) 64

You know, now I know why they transition into the ED. Just doing it out of the blue sounds so jarring considering how it was done before.

Anywho, we now have our main antagonists for the arc,
and now the Phantom Troupe is invading Greed Island. I don't even remember how they got this "game" working, but I guess that's up for me to rediscover.

Part of the issue with Dandy is that Meow retreads over the same ground Dandy does. While it does work on the rivalry aspect, they also don't really play off each other that well.

Think that could be remedied if QT was more the voice of reason than he is at the moment. Just kinda there.

This would be my chief complaint with Dandy at the moment. Meow is too similar to Dandy. QT is sort of the foil to Dandy, but Meow could be a 3rd perspective instead of just the butt monkey to Dandy's own butt monkey life.
