So what are the funniest games to play in local with 2 xbox controllers? If possible, the games should be not too demanding so that it runs on a good laptop. Edit: I am looking for games which are easy to master, and for games of short span, so that it is possible for a third person to play instead of one of the two players.

I have on my list of games which I do not own yet:
  • Divekick
  • Samurai Gunn
  • Speedrunners

And among games which I own:
  • A virus named Tom
  • BUTTON
  • Monaco? I am afraid the laptop screen would be too small, and even a small TV screen in fact would not be enough.
  • Nidhogg
  • Spelunky?

I never finished RE4, Im a bad person ;(

Same here. I got about halfway through it on console. I (hope) to fix that this time around. I remember the first chainsaw guy being the stuff of nightmares the first time around.

Valve needs to enable multiple naming schemes for games like Resident Evil.

This is probably the number 1 thing I wish would be possible. Jshacks...you are our only hope.

Ive played Spelunky for 61 hours on Steam, and i have the game also on Vita.

Relevant post is relevant.

I'd definitely say Nidhogg (although I have no experience with the others). I was laughing so often and so loud on online multiplayer, which means it's epic with local co-op. The basics are very easy, but it's truly hard to really master all the little quirks.

I made a habit of trying to skewer my opponent as often as possible in a single match. Oh and I forced myself to unarmed combat as soon as I got disarmed, which is especially hilarious if you somehow manage to beat your armed foe to a pulp.

Guacamelee maybe?

Thanks. I don't know how the coop' works with Guacamelee.

I forgot to mention I am looking for games which are easy to master, and for games of short span, so that it is possible for a third person to play instead of one of the two players.

Yes, I have tried Nidhogg in local and it is a lot of fun.

Shut up.

Bring Metal Gear Solid 1-to-6 too.

I just want Ac!d and Ac!d 2 myself, but I'm odd like that.

Humble Audiobook Bundle.

Hercules disappointed.gif.exe.png.dll

Well, at least Junky is a classic read. Hear? Something.

Blood Meridian is my favorite thing on there and one of my favorite books ever. But I'm not much of an audiobook guy, I'm a speedy reader, so having to listen to a book being read out loud is just way too slow for me. And I don't have something like a car commute where I need to fill time but can't just read a book.

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.
Dark Souls is a difficult but, mostly, fair game.
La-mulana is a game that is purposefully as obtuse as possible, where even basic items are hidden in the most obscure ways imaginable.

Both games are really nothing alike.
La Mulana's difficulty lies in it's exploration, not it's combat. I do feel both have something in common, besides the great explorational gameplay, but I can't put my finger on it.
Both games are fair, with the exception of some of La-Mulana's crazy ass bossfights. With patience and endurance you can get through everything, though.
And maybe a notebook or a wiki (maybe two).

Spelunky is one of those games that transcends frustration for me, I've never really been angered or annoyed at a death -- mostly exasperated from the circumstances, even find it hilarious. When I see people saying that they get frustrated with it and say they'll put it down forever, it makes me think they're playing it solely to try and get to the ending screen and be done with it, and that's not the best way to approach it. Nowadays I just play it to get my daily runs in, I know the ins and outs of everything going on and what all my options are, but before that a big thing that kept me going for that one more run was just seeing what else the game had in store for me going forward, what new circumstances could arise. Even now I get put into hilarious new situations that all stem from known quantities that all just coalesce into an embarrassing death or tense near miss, but entertaining either way.

RE4 finally having a proper PC port is great news, I'm gladly going to pick it up for the, uh... 6th time. When they skipped over a PC release during the PS3/360 HD releases I had almost given up hope that it would ever happen. 60FPS too? It's like I'll be playing it again for the first time.

So La Mulana is worth a go at $1.49,yes?
Without a doubt.

Finding the Holy Grail feels so good. And that's one of the first and easiest treasures obtainable.

My favorite:

Speedrunners - A platforming Mario Kart. An absolute blast to play. The best game on Steam right now.
Nidhogg - Sword fighting tug o' war. Incredibly fun to play with another person. Must have.
Divekick - A fighting game version of thumb wrestling. Fun and funny. Definitely worth it if you have company.

They are all pretty easy to get into, and they all get better once you put some time into 'em.

Thanks, I agree, these three games look perferct for my intent.

All of this is just IMHO:
Divekick will be fun for 15 minutes. Samurai Gunn works better w/ more than 2 people Nidhogg will be fun for quite a bit longer; I think it's the clear choice here.

And I'll like it even if I'm not wild about Spelunky so far? La Mulana is more 'platformy'?
Eh. More and less. The platforming needs some getting used too, it's more about the exploration and puzzles.

I'm not a fan of Spelunky, though. I didn't dislike it, just didn't enjoy it so much as a lot of people do. Everything felt so hasty. I like to play games at my own pace, not speeding my way to the exit to avoid a one-hit killing entity.

Anyhow, those two games are completely different. So say's the guy who thinks La-Mulana and Dark Souls have a lot in common. :p

Dark Souls is basically a puzzle game with pre-generated puzzles for you to deal with.

The point of the game is to learn how to solve the puzzles, brute forcing the puzzles gets you nowhere but back to square one.

most of the issues people have, is that they don't want to play the way the game is telling you to, they want to brute force it.

Most of the "powergamers" i guess you could call it (beating the game at SL1 with no clothes and a broken sword) are basically brute forcing within the confines of the requirements, kind of like a big middle finger to The Man.

omg finally

sent them a support ticket for this a couple weeks ago

i take all credit

Nice...

It's hard like spelunky with difficult platforming.
But it's got some adventure type exploration stuff like a metroidvania or something. I haven't played a lot of it, only screwed around for 30 minutes or so, but that was what I got out of it.

Here's a decent gameplay clip from early on:

Sorry, the commentary is pretty annoying though.

Wow, a bunch of those greenlit titles look pretty good (visually). And Rain World getting greenlit after a week? That was fast.

Hey guys, quick question. Probably a really dumb question as well. So I bought physical copies of Homefront and The Darkness II from that Microsoft Store sale (they were $5 combined, cannot beat that price) but in my hastiness to order, I kinda forgot that I don't exactly have an optical drive in my computer.
holy shit I am dumb
I called Microsoft to cancel the order like 20 minutes later, was told the order was cancelled, they charged my account anyways and I just got the games in the mail. Oh well. $5 out of my wallet, can't really complain. Anyways. My question is: Both games are Steamworks-enabled, is it possible to activate/download them with the keys that came with them without having to use the disc? Or am I kinda screwed?

KenOD

a kinder, gentler sort of Scrooge

Finally, one step closer to Dawn of the Ronin. The aesthetics make me want to play it so much.

Inverto looks quite interesting as well. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=151983042

Perhaps it's just from my recent exposure to Aaaaaaa! and the like, but a puzzle game of gravity changing sounds quite good to me now.

The Gallery looks interesting, but I'm never quite sure about an adventure game with "Randomized Environments & Path-finding"

Also Catlateral Damage:

Finally I can try to understand why my cat keeps doing that.

Darkness II is steamworks just enter the serial code in steam to download.

I don't know about homefront but it doesn't hurt to try.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I bought Hitman Absolution Professional edition on retail so I didn´t get Sniper Challenge. I found it later on g2play, yes one of those shady sites. It is only 0,49e there. I thought it was safe because it doesn't give you Steam key but a key you redeem on http://www.hitmansniper.com which then gives you a Steam key. I would never buy real Steam keys on those sites.

Thanks for the tip. Can't complain for $0.65 and now the Sniper Challenge is mine.

Homefront retail keys can also be registered on Steam.
