Is there any info out there on 'The Room' before it became SH4?

Like I said, I think it was grossly underrated. It's technically faulty (Especially on PS3), but it brings a lot to the series. I loved the art and exploration.

My dream game is an open world silent hill where every building can be entered. Every door that only rattled in previous games can be broken down with an ax. I would kill for silent hill 2 in an open world setting. Can you imagine getting into a rowboat and finally exploring the little island in the middle of Toluca lake?Would you be okay with a open world Silent Hill ?
Very cool will read later....kinda bummed the rest of the what went wrong is missing
EDIT: Wait its out of order and missing a few pages
Haven't touched Book of Memories on the Vita besides the demo. Did anyone actually play that?
Book Of Memories but I like to think BOM didn't happen or have the name attached.
He worked on origins and Shattered Memories, then vanished, then came back for fucling Book of Memories and the fucking movie 2. He's cray.Ito's absence is perfectly logical and reasonable. Expecting him to be working with a Western developer long time after Team Silent were disbanded is weird. Ito hasn't been a monster designer since 2003, he only did consultancy for SH4, and otherwise he's only done some outsorced jobs for Konami (cover for SH:O ost, JP cover for Downpour).
My favorite game series of all time, and 3 of my favorite game soundtracks ever (SH2, SH3, SH4).
SH2 > SH > SH3 = SH4
shame they never made any more after that
Didn't Kojima talk about having Konami use his new engine for a new Silent Hill game?
http://www.destructoid.com/konami-has-asked-hideo-kojima-to-helm-silent-hill-235750.phtml"In the past Ive mentioned Silent Hill in interviews, and as a result of that the president of Konami rung me up and said hed like me to make the next Silent Hill," stated the mad developer. "Honestly, Im kind of a scaredy-cat when it comes to horror movies, so Im not confident I can do it. At the same time, theres a certain type of horror that only people who are scared of can create, so maybe its something I can do.
"That said, I think Silent Hill has a certain atmosphere. I think it has to continue, and Id love to help it continue, and if I can help by supervising or lending the technology of the Fox Engine, then Id love to participate in that respect."

And Licht's score suited the game excelently and to be honest I was getting tired of Yamaoka's random static and lonely guitar. if Akira is not ready, Licht should come back.
Konami asked Kojima to direct a Silent Hill game, but he's kinda wary to do it:

Source? He is "thanked" in Origins, while he did do the cover for the game's Japanese OST. Never heard about any affiliation with SM. In any case, I think you are severely overstating his involvement in any degree whatsoever with any titles after SH4.
Although there is a tendency in the community to view the team as homogeneous across the series prior to Silent Hill: Origins, only Akira Yamaoka, Hiroyuki Owaku and Masahiro Ito were fixtures for most of the series.
Mostly. It's certainly not perfect but I'd pop that fucker in anytime.
Can only talk about SH2 tho. SH3 still only has the new voices and that is unfortunate. Also AFAIK it's also still more buggy than SH2 even after patches.
Oh, I might get it down the line then. I always wanted to play Silent Hill series but 2 and 3 and 4 are ungodly expensive on PS2 and for some reason I don't really want to play the first one. HD Collection is the only cheap legal alternative for 2 and 3.
I want more games like Shattered Memories.
Also this year is 15th for another good Konami series.
But the Silent Hill monsters DO look different to everyone who visits.
Hell some people see nothing at all.
That doesn't mean 'gah I woz killing real people!'
My favourite is the first game, the PAL version I owned looked like this:
I've also played through: SH2 & Dir. Cut, SH3, SH4, SH Origins and SH Homecoming.
And I actually like the movies!
The PAL ver. has the best cover.
In the end, they series never really got the sales or recognition that they deserved.
The first couple of entries sold a couple of millions of copies, the series have seven entries, the first couple of games are the hallmark of psychological/atmospheric horror, Silent Hill 2 is considered one of the best narratives in video games history, and the IP even got two film adaptations. I think the series did pretty well, in retrospect.

EDIT: In terms of creative influence on the rest of the games industry and developers, I completely agree with you though. Not many people have picked up on the style and execution of adult themes of the first couple of SH games.
Yep, I'm a bit tired of seeing people talk about a "Team Silent". There's no such thing, really.Interesting quote here
I will submit that I had by far the "best" experience of anybody playing Silent Hill 3. The game came out the same day that I had my wisdom teeth pulled, so I got through the whole thing in three days of playing while just slightly loopy on painkillers and with the strong taste of blood in my mouth. It was awesome, I felt like I was in the game especially since the Otherworld in that particular game was very blood-heavy in its theme.
