DAMN RIGHT!

But..no PSN release any more?

A Sony spokesperson has told Eurogamer he believes that LittleBigPlanet is "potentially our biggest Blu-ray release of 2008".

Nick Robinson - a senior product manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe - confirmed the title will be released in September on Blu-ray disc only.

"This isn't a Warhawk or a Tekken: Dark Resurrection," he said, mentioning two games Sony has made available for download on the PlayStation Network. "This is a triple-A Blu-ray title."

He also confirmed the game will have a very substantial offline Story mode to justify the price for those less interested in its community and content-creation aspects.

It seems there was a presentation for it today, and Eurogamer will have hands on impressions later. Wonder if there'll be anything new or if it's just the CES stuff?

I would like a story mode. Just like I approved of the SSB delay for supposedly the same reason.

I have a kid on the way and need single player games!

Ooh, boy...well, for Sony's sake, I hope it does well.

Yeah, seems really dumb to bet your chips on a game that has very little mass appeal and will likely bomb regardless of awesome game quality.

Yup, Blu-ray only.

This game is pretty much the ultimate pack in game if there ever was one, I'm sure they will take advantage of that as well.

I surely think MGS4 at least, would sell better than LBP. The game just doesn't seem like a multi-million seller.

Biggest release? I think not..or am I missing something

IMO this is fairly easily the most important PS3 game Sony has in the pipe. Creatively speaking at least.

If they do a PSN release, it better be day and date with the retail disc and at exactly the same price, or Gamestop is going to tell them to shove it up their asses.

If we don't see a digital-delivery version, that's probably why.

That's the first thing that I thought of when I saw it was going to be disc only.......It really does make sense.

Yeah but people were bitching before because all it was to them was a build a level game.

And what was that game supposed to be? lol
If they're not the creative maybe they're supposed to go play something else.

Doesn't this just mean the official release is September?

I thought the plan was to release on the PSN, as an open beta ala GT:p, and then include the best levels onto the official blu-ray release (which in this case is september)

I would have thought MGS4 would be their biggest release.

Is there something up with that?
They're recognising the potential in LittleBigPlanet.
It's a game that sells itself in 10 seconds.
It's for all ages.
It's endlessly ambitious and original.
It's for singleplayer, party gaming, online gaming.
It never ends and it's always fresh.

I personally really don't think that this game will be hurt that much by not being offered as a downloadable too. With this move, I figure they're really pushing it to become something more other than just a platform-version of The Incredible Machine (or something). The focus on a disc-only version somewhat tells me they'll try to add a lot of retail-quality substance to it instead of only relying on the community.

this and MGS4 would currently be the only reasons I would buy a PS3, but it's still not enough (or the PS3 aint cheap enough yet)

Can't wait!
I'm additionaly enticed by LBP being a Blu-Ray only release, and what that must mean.

MGS4?? is not a 1st party published title...

Hmmm this probably means that MGS4, Killzone, Socom, Resistance2, White Knight, FFXII are all coming out in 2009

Blasphemous words that insult Insomniac will not be tolerated. :lol

Definitely one of the biggest releases for 2008! :D Day one purchase for sure. I don't mind it not being available on the PSN, I would rather have it on Blu-ray anyway.

An RPG wouldn't be considered "biggest release" unless it said "Final Fantasy" on the cover.
but no FF13 until 09' so... I WIN :p
fuck FF13, no giant sword wielding knight, no sale

Biggest release is next week. MLB08: The Show!!

Seriously, the story mode inclusion has me excited for this game again. The style is awesome but there is a reason I buy games, it's because I can't make em. I prefer the pros (and you folks, of course) to design my levels.

Very dissapointed there won't be a download version anymore. This is the kind of game I want available from my HDD and just play between other games.

Ah, makes sense. Yeah, now that I think about it, if they're trying to grab more marketshare LBP is probably a safer bet.

That was mentioned at the last big trade show, this is not new.

I think the reason given was that the amount of assets, widgets, and stickers included would have been ridiculously large for a download-able title.
