Sniper Elite 3 closer to 60FPS on PS4, maybe "a bit slower" on Xbox One

In a recent Sniper Elite 3 event, GamingBolt was able to get in touch with Jean-Baptiste Bolcato who is the Senior Producer at 505 Games. According to him, the PS4 version of Sniper Elite 3 will be closer to 60 frames per second but it “may” be a bit slower on the Xbox One. But regardless, they will be pushing the game on both the consoles.

“Well as close as possible to 60 frames per second on both the systems, it will probably be closer to 60 on the PS4 but it drops to around 40 and 50, but you won’t really feel or notice it. It may be a little bit slower on Xbox One but we are hoping to have full priority between the two machines. The only thing the Xbox One won’t have is stereoscopic 3D as they do not support it yet,” Jean said to us.

Yeah sounds like tomb raider. 60 most of the time, then drops when shit hits the fan.

I'm ok with this.

I played through all of tomb, and the drops really didn't affect me. Seemed like it played at 60 or close to it most of the time.

people who bought an XB1 for multiplats must feel like PS3 owners did last gen.

welcome to second class citizenship.

Sigh. If they can't get locked 60 then they should lock it at 30 fps and use any spare performance for some extra AA or something. These in between framerates are pointless.

Lower tier title from a dev no one really knows - frame rates between platforms mentioned, 10 page thread incoming
505 Games might not have produced the biggest games, but they have produced/published quite a few games, so i dont think that they are that unknown. This thread might be big though :)

What is "full priority" between machines? Parity? Also..we won't notice 20fps dips?
I was wondering the same thing, thinking maybe he ment parity instead. Or maybe he ment that they would try to use the most of the hardware on both systems.

xbox 1 gamers to have the most cinematic experiences this gen, I love the verbage developers keep using like just a little bit more powerful, or slightly more powerful,

Is it not common knowledge yet that the PS4 is a more powerful machine? Are we going to make a thread about every single multiplatform game for the next 5 years?

Please stop these unlocked framerate games developers. Do everyone a favor and just lock it to 30 and use the extra power on PS4 in other ways. Bump some graphical effects up, raise the FOV or the amount of detail in general. Just don't make a game that runs at 45-50fps average.

These developers pitifully trying to downplay the difference is pretty pathetic. Kojima did the same just days ago.

It reeks of Microsoft to be honest. Kind of like how they force everyone to say "the all in one entertainment device" or whatever in their PR sheets.

A genre like first person shooters where it can be hard to spot enemies at a distance, a lower resolution to make up for lost frames can be detrimental as well!

True! In most cases I prefer fps over resolution tho. Oh well, better release up to par hardware next time around MS.

That's BS, it's highly noticeable, they should just lock it and be done with it.

Game devs, do not listen to this man.

Tomb Raider was a majority silky smooth 60, and it's fantastic. I can deal with "dips" into the 40s for a majority 60s experience.

Was everyone clamoring for Activision to lock Call of Duty down to 30 since the 360/PS3 versions could barely keep the framerate at 60 in the later titles?

I actually prefer developers running their games at an unlocked 40-60 compared to 30. The occasional drops aren't jarring for me so the trade off for a higher frame rate is worth it. Killzone would be my first experience going from 30 to 40-60. MP is so much smoother most of the time.

How the hell the developer of a game is allowed to say "it may be a bit slower on Xbox One" without having the journalist ask "what do you mean 'maybe', it's your own game" is beyond me.

Just give the facts, they'll come out eventually anyway. There is no point in denying or otherwise trying to bend the truth.

Didn't the DF thread reveal it to be running at an average of 50fps? That's the kind of mess I want to avoid in games. It's awful playing games on PC at 60 and then having them frequently dip into the 40s/low 50s, it's a really jarring experience. I'll usually turn settings down a bit until I can basically lock it to 60.

edit: I noticed today Guerrilla just patched in the ability to lock the campaign to 30fps. They wouldn't have done that if it wasn't incredibly jarring to run at 45fps most of the time.

More like "Frame rate difference between consoles mentioned, post bitching about upcoming 10 page thread incoming."

It's like some variation of the above post is in every other thread these days.

I disagree with not being able to see the difference between 60 and 40. Seeing a game occasionally drop from 60 fps to 40 or lower makes the choppiness of lesser framerates way more noticeable.

I'm guessing full priority between the machines means they're going to spend equal time trying to make both run as well as possible. Which, in the end, will probably just make the Xbone seem worse.

I'm just saying, if this is already a thing, imagine where the system's going to be in 2 or 3 years.

Edit: Which is to say that MS really needs to de-prioritize all of the non-gaming nonsense when someone's playing a game. Maybe it'll make for a less seamless UI, but frankly, they're just wasting horsepower.

The feel of 60 fps on the PS4

The feel of unlocked frame rate on the Xbox One.

Hopefully, they can optimize it enough so that it stays closer to 60 fps or introduce a fps lock to 30 as sort of an option.
