Ah! Excite!
Animation and art direction look pretty different from last arc Super, but it is just a teaser so the movie may be different after corrections. But the motion is very good.
I'm really excited, but also a little disappointed because I thought the new movie was going to be about the original Super Saiyan/Super Saiyan God, Yamoshi.
I really hate Super's designs and animation.
Much like GT, they sucked the soul out of Dragon Ball.
This teaser does look a little better and there's no glossy Goku, but I'm not holding my breath for anything hand-drawn with a creator's touch of life.
Really? I loved Super especially the last Arc. I think it is at its best now.
As for the movie. It looks strange. He seems to be just want to fight and that there is nothing on stage? Really need a real trailer to see whats about it. But I need some danger^^
also: Is this Broly?
but we haven't had animal brolyYeah.
The show is almost self-parody at this point.
At one point in time it was about training hard, building friendships, and winning tournaments based on skill.
Ever since Frieza it has been increasingly about POWERING UP and TAPPING INTO ENERGY RESERVES.
HE'S OUT OF ENERGY! NO WAIT HE HAS A SECRET RESERVE! x10000
Also hope it isn't Broly.
We've had Broly, Bio Broly, and Femme Broly.
also: Is this Broly?
The first time i saw it, sure. But years later in hindsight i now realize that broly is one of the worst movie villain that panders to the lowest common denominator which is muscles and power levels. For starters, outside of being born with a power level 10k, his power was never earned, hes just powerful for the sake of it. His backstory is garbage (hes mad at goku only because he cried as a baby.) And by the end and all sequels he has had the vocabulary of a pokemon. And the ending makes no sense. Goku and everyone got roflstomped in minutes and as everyone slowly trickled their power into goku, by the end of it, he had enough to power to one-shot broly.Uh, I got nothing out of that. Goku doesn't even look like he's under pressure.
My first anime experience was the Brolly movie, and that shit was super badass. The three super movies were nowhere near how menacing Brolly was, of course two of them became a part of the anime series.

And the worst part is this asshat gets not 1 but 3 movies. Dont get me started on how shitty those are.
Frankly now the only broly movie i can watch is the abridged version. "MY POWER IS MAXIMUMER!"
Hes got the personality of a wet napkin. Frail and practically non-existent. His goal in life is to beat goku because he woke him up as a baby. Its as if they got lazy with the background and came up with that at the very last second. His dad makes more sense because king vegeta tried to kill him and his son, but not broly.I can't never understand the "Broly is all muscles and maximum power" critics.
I mean, he is portrayed as a super powerful psychopath, he literally says he is a demon. That's his personality and I think that's amazing. He is basically the legendary Super Saiyan, and saiyans were a evil and cruel race to begin with, so makes sense that the legendary Super Saiyan it's even more evil and cruel. And his design is amazing.
The first Broly movie is awesome, the other 2 are crap.

The only thing going for broly IS his design. A bulky manly he-man man "legendary" super saiyan because...Reasons.
i'm not caught up on super at all, but what's this talk about Broly? Broly sucks and has been rehashed too many times. Iwould love for this to be: his dad, Raditz, evil gohan, HIS MOTHER, etc.
be revived like every other character in this seriesWhy/how would it be Bardock?
Yeah.

It honestly would take you a fuck load of time to work through the series, but most westerners really started the series in the Z saga, and you'd be okay to start there (especially because they remastered the series in HD).Never jumped on the DB hype train, now I feel like i'm too old.
Who would revive him? Why would he be an antagonist?be revived like every other character in this series
I disagree. Its the type of artstyle that focuses more on the fluidity of the motion rather than highly detailed stills. Whioe at the same time being simple yet stylized. It looks like traditional dbz through and through and ill gladly take it over the glossy looking style of dbs.I don't know what it is but the animation loooooks so bad. The old stuff looked so good. What is happening?! It just looks sloppy.

You just can not do it on a weekly schedule. Just watch this video about the last episode and count how many animators were involved in these 20 minutes. Everyone using their own styles etc.I mean both when I say it.
Modern animation is missing a ton of frames and Super uses a ton of tricks to try and make up for that fact.
In Ep130 there are several scenes where Goku and Jiren are static and there are flashes and sound effects to signify combat that is so fast we can't see it.
Of course, I thought 131 was the best directing and animation in the entire run of Super.
Some really smart decisions stylistically as well.

That's what I'm saying though - the teaser for the movie has movement and subtleness that Super never did, so I'm wondering if the critiques of the movie teaser are really about the animation or about the art style. Super did use a lot of corner cuts, even at its best, but this is about the movie teaser.
I think the animation itself from the short clip is really quite good, and what people think is them disliking the animation is more them disliking the lighter art direction.
