Please God, just let Star Trek die. It had a good run but it's over.

All good things must end eventually. They're just propping the corpse up against a wall and pretending it's moving.

What? no, Discovery was good. I can't see Patrick Stewart returning not for a full season anyway, a cameo or single episode maybe.

Having the character and actor back won't make it "real Star Trek." That would require hiring a team of writers who have no connection with Discovery, and who actually understand what made shows like TNG what they were.

EDIT: I should add the obvious example of Nemesis, which had both Patrick Steward and Picard (and a whole lot of other familiar faces) yet was about as far from good or genuine Trek as anything out there.
