"I'm on my period" - A Question

Ok GAF I've got the question of the day for ya.

So boom! The weekend is here, you and your special partner are getting ready for the big ol date night. You're texting each other about drink options, kissy face emojis are popping off, and then the an ancient piece of Sumerian comes across your phone screen "Oh, also, I'm on my period...."

Personally that statement has compounded into multiple scenarios are being some what unique.

My question is what does that statement REALLY mean? Like are they saying you now have a one way ticket to Bj town, or that sex is off the table, they may be cranky.. Like what?

Sometimes I've just wanted to respond with "Yeah I've got gas" just so they ask "what does that mean" and be all "SEEEE!!!!!!!". Like can we get a follow up? "I'm on my period so special treat for you tonight", Or "I'm on my period so don't be a total asshole"

It is just a statement that I find just hangs in the air.... all the time.

So GAF what do you think about what is really being said?

Periods are different for each woman, so you have to figure it out. Some women get cramps, so they can barely stand. Some women get turned on during their period. Some before and after their period.

It's really a mixed bag, but it's usually a bad thing health-wise.

And that's the point, is because it is a mixed bag right? Like we all know periods can fucking suck or be a chill ride all depending on the person.

I just never understood why it is always left so open. It literally hits me "I'm on my period" everytime with no indication of what that entails lol.

Some women enjoy playing games. It's not necessarily malicious, but they'd like to see how you react. Are you going to sympathize and be wrapped around my finger? Are you going to be a jerk about it? Are you going to be disinterested because no sex?

These are valid questions in her mind. Kind of a juvenile way to go about it but whatever, we're all human.

To put it another way: some women ask questions by asking. Other women ask questions by saying or doing something to see how you react. I'm sure men do it too but I don't date men.

Well I think woman are weird who mention that out of nowhere, I mean it makes sense if you talk about having sex or going out and she doesn't want to go because of the period but just saying so without any kind of explanation seems stupid. It sounds so me like " I'm on my period so treat me like a princess because I suffer and that suffering can never be understood by you man".

It typically means don't expect sex. I wouldn't want to be having sex through blood. That's nasty. And I think blood worsens the vaginal lubrication, making sex less enjoyable.

She’s establishing power, and kind of shit testing you as well. The best possible response is to completely ignore it. And tbh, it might just be a heads up if she has mood swings. Honestly I would probably respond with some crude joke, and that is why I am single and will probably remain so 😂

In the Army we called it getting your ‘ blood wings ‘

It means that they don't want to have sex with you.

Or she wants to have sex with you and waiting for you to say "I have no problem with period sex".

It truly is a guessing game and really it just depends on the circumstances and context. Best advice honestly is just try not to be an asshole about it.

Not to sound gross, but yeah blood is pretty much lubrication in itself and if properly handled and prepared a couple can have enjoyable sex during this time. From experience(not sure if it applies to all women) females are rather ... more what’s the word?

I’d rather not use horny but my vocabulary is failing me.

"Open to dick"?

In my exp, I had one gf that would kill me if I wanted to have sex with her during her period and the other would kill me if I didn't so....roll with it.

The "I have a period" thing is a bit of a conundrum when you think about it. You might suspect, does she have her period or is she using it as an excuse? A lot of girls used it in high school to avoid gymnastics, some even if they didn't have their period. So it being a convenient excuse that a guy won't question, can also make it something you have to be aware of. It might be work as a way of dismissal and might signalize problems in a relationship, by acting withdrawing.

Still, in this case it's pretty obvious that she's on her period, just by how it's written: ""Oh, also, I'm on my period...."
That's a informative mention and not a sign, like "I'm on my period" or "I'm tired" or "I have a headache" might be. The way it seems, it's up to you to at least consider whether period is an obstacle to you when having sex and if not, see if it's an obstacle for her.

Some classic GAF right here. My wife and I did it once shortly after we first started going out and we both agreed never again, too nasty for me, we even have a 1 buffer day rule now around her period. I would just ignore what she said and go with the flow on your date. Hopefully you won't be disappointed if she doesn't want hanky-panky, it's only a few days and she'll appreciate you more for it.

OP, she is telling you that there are Communists in the funhouse and so you probably won't be having sex.

To be honest I think it's best avoided. I've fucked up a few times when we thought the period was over but it was not and it's just messy.

Nothing worse than looking down at a scene that resembles a Mortal Kombat finishing move before you have to finish yourself.

Depends on the girl but I would drop the first and last option there. That doesnt sound like a reasonable interpretation of it. Ha!
I would just ignore it for the most part, treat her as usual. If things start heating up and she is she reminds you that she is on her period you can to go from there. If both of ye are cool with it, fun times ahead (lay down some old towels :p ), if one of you are not then no loss have other fun things to do but dont expect anything.

In my wife's case, early on in the period it means absolutely no sex. She might also be moody. Later on in the period stage, I might get a BJ. She often gets very horny a few days into the period, but we never have vaginal sex during because both of us find it a bit unappealing, especially since we don't use condoms (I'm vasectomized). But it's different for each girl.

In many cases for me, it has meant, "If you don't mind getting my clumpy blood all over your dick, we can have sex."

I prefer declining the invitation.

What's stopping you from just asking "...and what's that mean?"

And if you want to be less direct: "So does that mean we should order chocolate dessert or what?"

Should get her to explain a bit more of what she meant. But more than likely it's a "no sex" comment.

Jesus Gaf truly has gotten bad. It just means you shouldn't expect sex or be surprised if she suddenly needs a bathroom access. Stop with the sexist "women play games" bullshit.

Everyone has different experiences with periods, some women even have pain that time of the month. Every woman learned to deal with her periods differently from her mother or sisters, sometimes father if the mother is not around. Just ask and talk to her about it and how it is for her.
