If I do buy anything it'd be a PS5. It sounds more interesting to me so far, but the bigger reason is that I'm mostly PC, and any Xbox would be redundant.

I'm honestly not sure.

Was kinda hoping for more juicy info about PS5 BC, but it wasn't that great.

If the price is not healthy to me, gonna remain with PS4 for a long time. I'm no desperate, PS4 is a pretty good plataform with an amazing library.

Since that announcement yesterday that only some legacy Xbox games may have 4k and HDR, and PS5 confirmed to play most of the 4000+ games, I'm now leaning more towards PS5.

Still playing the waiting game for more confirmation.

PS5

Im not tempted by the exclusive games from Microsoft. I do like Forza but won't buy a console for one game. I'm always open to the possibility of buying an Xbox but it does depend on the games.

Edit. I should add I tend to prefer Japanese games and the choices are usually much stronger on PS.

PS5 but I'll be mad if it isn't cheaper than XSX. The hardware is obviously tailored for a cheaper manufacturing cost and I hope the innovations on the controller are also rather cheap. 450€ tops. 400€ is the sweet spot.

I am thinking I will buy none with the possible exception of grabbing a PS5 at the end of the cycle for the exclusives. I am now a light gamer who prefers PC and I have young kids so I don't have the time to make a 500 buck purchase worthwhile in addition to the PC GPU and the obligatory Nintendo system. As a spec whore, I would be interested in the PS5 if it was as powerful as the XbSEX, but with the whole coronavirus market collapse and no real need to play exclusives, I am fine with being left out.

I love how growing up and getting through different phases of life also made me prioritize systems or not getting them at all, but man, the Nintendo... THE Nintendo always somehow at a point needs to be in my pocket or connected to the TV. It's that magical brand that I know they have something for me everytime.

Eventually I'll be buying both. It won't be for a long time though since I will be waiting for Walmart to get it in stock or maybe take the hour drive to Best Buy to get one. I certainly do not feel good on preordering at GameStop. Hypothetically, where does my preorder go if they close the store?

Playstation 5.

And drop a new video card in my pc probably this black Friday when I find a good deal.

Between those 2 I'll have more games than I have time to play.

PS5 to XSX ratio is shifting back toward PS5 a bit. It's 1.54 to 1 now, whereas it was 1.43 yesterday.

Anyhow, it's settling around 1.5 to 1.

I knew the polls would resemble this, lol. Sony fanboys are unbelievably loyal, moreso than "man's best friend". Good doggie, go get your newest weeaboo sim 6 game! Woof woof!

I'll take the same stance I did this gen. I'm getting PlayStation because about half my permanent library (my favorite games ever that I could go back and replay at any time) is exclusives of theirs. Plus it's a big jump over PS4 and it'll probably play every PS4 game I have (I have to imagine they've focused on everything other than obscure Indies when they vast majority) plus I have like 130 something Platinum trophies and really enjoy their online, controller, and UI

As for Xbox I would get it much later and only once they have 5 exclusives I actually wanna play. This gen they had sunset overdrive and nothing else I really wanted. I don't care if it has a couple more pixels or frames on third party games because they won't be able to build anything from the ground up for the series X and actually program for it

I'm more likely to get Switch to compliment PS5 because of less redundancy and a little more unique hardware (I've had a pro controller for over a year lol)

Most likely ps5 first, MS are going to have to show me enough exclusives to get both. I have only 1 HDMI 2.1 connection left in the TV.

note I am still happy as hell with my ps4 pro and games look fantastic. But damn that new xbox looks powerful.

So far it's Xbox. I want that massive ever expanding BC library:
Oblivion & Morrowind
SSX 3
Sonic 3, CD, and Sonic Adventure
Beyond Good and Evil HD
Soul Calibur 1 & 2
Perfect Dark (n64)
Rayman Origins
Ninja Gaiden 1,2,3
Banjo Kazooie
Metal Gear Solid 2,3, Peace Walker
Daytona
Virtua Fighter 2, 5
Hard Corps Uprising (a contra game)
Braid
Etc.
MS has shown a stunning commitment to this that makes me optimistic of the future.

I want Halo and Forza MS, Forza Horizon, Flight Sim 2020 and Gears. Tons of replayability in all of those.

I want the power for the best ray possible and the best looking multi platform games.

I love the low latency focus and all the software efficiency innovations.

I just hope they can provide some great first party surprises.

don't know yet. gotta see the games foist. foolish to make a decision now. im looking for must-buy games that have that wow factor. i'm talking gears of war, i'm talking breathe of the wild, i'm talking final fantasy x. i need to get hyped ya feel me

For the PS4 it was an easy decision: Sony has the games and they had the better console and the better attitude.

This one is trickier: Sony should have the games but they have the weaker console and Jim Ryan feels too much like a bean counter.

I lean Sony, but we'll see...

I am getting the XSX, I have to much invested in the ecosystem to leave it (digital games, ETC). But I may get a PS5 down the line.

Right now, neither. I'm fine with my Switch + PC combo, but if Sony reveals that the PS5 has complete BC up to PS1 I could be swayed, seems highly unlikely right now though.

I really don't see that happening at the launch, maybe over time (of course with you buying the games again), but not at launch. That is really a lot of an ask at this point. Especially with the architecture that they would have to emulate/code for. I was really hoping for native PS4 support, but seeing as how they are just starting to care we will see how the gen develops. I hope all the PS4 investors/users will not be screwed over.

The gap in favor of the PS5 will continue to widen when Sony reveals the price and games

What if it's 499? People blindly assume that weaker specs = lower price, but it's the reversed situation from 2013, where MS console had less CUs due to ESRAM, but the overall APU die size was more or less the same for both consoles, and both were 399$, and now it's the PS5 that has less CUs in favor of SRAM and additional SSD-supporting coprocessors.

The price debate is actually funny, because fanboys are going crazy about how supposedly PS5 is vastly superior, and yet they are not willing to spend 500 on it, not even 450...

I expect that the price reveal will hit some people just as hard as the specs reveal did.

I skipped PS4 and don't regret it. Got a X1 for multiplats and backwards compat and I'm satisfied with it. Gamepass is tremendous value, if MS keep it up as it is it it's going to be great.

I have no emotional investment in the XBox brand, but for the past and current generation XBox has been a fine machine for me. I'm also not very interested in Sony's exclusives, so no big loss there for me.

So for me, it's likely gonna be XSX ASAP and then I'll keep an eye on the PS5 offering.

About 10% of the crowd is still undecided. Should be interesting to see which way they swing, after we get more information about pricing and game lineup.

I'm guessing Sony will come in cheaper than MS, but I don't think a $50 price difference will matter much. A $100 difference, sure, but the PS5 is looking like it'll be $450, and I can see XSX being $499. If the difference is only $50, I don't see it being that significant. I can't imagine being a hardcore gamer/early adopter who's going to let a $50 difference be the deciding factor.

PS has been providing good games since they started producing consoles, they've earned that loyalty

People know the PS5 will be amazing

I'm expecting them to both be $500 and will be pleasantly surprised if Sony is able to get it cheaper

Sony's higher volume of customers traditionally (who will have BC) may incentivize them to undercut a little more

I have a digital game library on both sides of the fence. So probably an XSX first, then PS5 when the revision arrives. I'm a sucker for Halo.

although i do care about specs, and i wished that SONY had the upper hand, but at 4k resolution, i dont think anything really matters much, 2 teraflop different can't vastly improve an experience on one console compare to the other one! only thing that probably matters the most is the exclusives. Microsoft failed so hard. i feel disgusted by them pushing their console by their decade only trio of Halo,Gears,Forza strategy.. It's just sad, where as SONY pulling off innovative franchises every year. So SONY will have my money.

PlayStation 5 may be less powerful, but...

Guerilla Games, Insomniac Games, Japan Studio, Naughty Dog, Polyphony Digital, Santa Monica Studio and Sucker Punch makes it an easy choice for me personally.

I'm getting a SeX, but I'm pretty confident my bro will get a PS5.

He and his fam aren't into games as much, but every other generation they get a console, I got the kids a Switch a few Christmas ago.

They have a PS3 that collects dust, never got a PS4, and when they come to my place I can tell my bro is itching for some EA Sports when he plays them on my X.

Will be a best of both worlds. I'll just tell them to get a PS5, get EA Access and PS Now. That will set them up as I know they don't care for the latest day one games.

XSX, there are only a couple Sony exclusives I care about and we won't be seeing these games for a good 2 yrs at best, not to mention a cannot stand Sony's controller design, I can only play for so long with them Thumb sticks next to each other, was part of the reason I sold my Spiderman Pro & PSVR, was collecting dust, all 3rd party games I purchase on X1X, GOW wasn't a good enough excuse anymore to watch the dust pile up.

I'll most likely be getting a PS5 when the 2nd gen VR headset is released.

Can you make it so we can see who voted. We got a dude with 10 xbox alts.

So you played Bioshock(a decade old game) and the demo of resident evil 7....and from that you decided you won't even try a game like Cyberpunk for example.

I'm sorry but that is just stupid

I'm sorry I don't get any joy or entertainment playing single player games and shooting/fighting AI. It's just not fun it's repetitive and it's boring.
