That's impressive, Nintendo games are usually not for me, but those sale numbers are insane.

When it comes to the best exclusives I say none beat Sony this generation but I recognize Nintendo's quality
This is a thread about sales though, it doesn't matter if you prefer Sony's exclusives, i do too.
They just don't get anywhere close to the sales numbers of the Nintendo ones.

Nintendo prioritizes fun game-play over agenda, realism and what's not - at least that's the impression I get.
I wouldn't be surprised if they have most games in the Top 5 / 10.

That isn't true some of Sony's exclusives get up there like Uncharted 4 which sold 16 million, Spider-man at 13 million

Nintendo also has less multiplatform games to compete with their exclusives

It's crazy how well animal crossing has sold. New Leaf sold 13 million or so copies in its lifetime and NH almost beat it in a couple weeks

On something like a 57m install base. For every one in five Switches out there a copy of Animal Crossing was purchased within two weeks of release. Other companies would murder for the kinds of attach rates many Nintendo games get.

Or they just keep rehashing and making sequels to beloved games. Not to mention Animal Crossing hit at the right time, quarantined kids out of school

Let's agree to disagree ok?
When a game like Splatoon 2 sells the same as God of War, i don't know how can you say exclusives sells the same on both consoles.
Again, i prefer Sony exclusives, hell i don't even have a switch, i'm just talking exclusive games sales numbers.

Great talk.

Well as others have Said, there is not much Else to play besides exclusives on the Switch. People buy Playstation/Xbox to play Destiny,Cod,Battlefield,AC,GTA,RDR, Fifa etc.
These are partly the biggest games this generation where not even Nintendo Games can come close.

I love my Switch, but besides the few Nintendo Exclusives there is not much choice. Granted it's enough, but that also explains why they Sell.
Mario Kart 8 soldi 8,5 Million copies on the WII U

That's genius work on the part of Nintendo though. They are swimming in cash.

I am always surprised when I see that playstation has sold 110 million but the best selling exclusive is uncharted 4 at 16 million!

What games are the other 94 million players playing?

I understand some have 2 consoles like I gave a ps4 and a ps4pro but the difference is huge.

Fifa, Cod, Fortnite, Madden, Apex Legends.
Edit: GTA V

Don't think so. Apparently the average PS gamer buys something like 6-7 games in the console's lifetime. Throwing more available games into the mix might eat away at other games.
I'm saying Nintendo games compete with every game out there not just games on its platform, because you're not allowed only one platform and there is a lot of overlap when it comes to ownership, particularly for Switch. Also no one is born a Switch owner, they choose to buy the console in order to buy the game.

Pretty much all games, whether 1st party or 3rd party, are only bought by a minority, but there are thousands of games out there.

Perhaps you're right. Not like I can prove my hypothesis anyway.

The 1,100 or so titles available.

Edit: GTA V, Minecraft.

That is only slightly true as only one of the games you listed is in the top 15 and that's gta 5 on 20 million.

All the games you listed are multiplatform as well which goes against why people say they a playstation.

The figures don't add up in my eyes as I'd have expected the sales of games to be 50 million on them not 10 million and less

their numbers are obviously very impressive, but I'd love to see the life to date revenue instead and compare it to the revenue of other games that sold similarly in terms of units. Basically I want to see how much higher is the average price per unit compared to non Nintendo high sellers, considering that Nintendo doesn't drop prices that much.

2680 games available and only 10 exclusive ps4 games are good in my opinion.

I'd say most people that buy Nintendo do so for its exclusives. So everytime a game is released it will sell millions because you can't find it anywhere else, also they try to make sure that every game they release is a huge hit.

I haven't played Uncharted, but have played God of War, TLoU 1, Bloodborne and will be picking up GoT when it comes out. One thing I've always appreciated about Sony is I find games to love in their exclusive line-up. I got the entire UC series for free through PS+ and other offers and may try it one day, but it doesn't really appeal to me.

Let's use something more concrete than just a user opinion.

There are 3 games in this generation with 97 metascores and two of those are from Nintendo.

Take a look at last FY operating profits that dwarfed Sony gaming division, Sega, Capcom, Square Enix, and Ubisoft combined, thanks to 1st party softwares. Sony had higher revenue but their profit margin was too small vs Nintendo.

It seems like part of Nintendo's strategy. They aren't trying to directly compete with others for the sale of third party software on their platforms so aggressively. That seemed to have stopped with the Wii and never seemed like a goal of theirs on their handhelds. So while you're probably right or partially right, it doesn't affect the bottom lines of anyone involved.

Regardless though, it's true Sony or Microsoft would love to see near immediate 20% attach rates of new exclusives, especially Sony with their 110m sold through units or whatever crazy number they're up to.

PS4 has the better overall lineup but Nintendo makes good games no doubt
Nintendo has a better lineup as the games are very diverse and selling splendidly.

Switch 10M seller and above
MK8D - Arcade Racing
Smash Ultimate - Brawl fighting
BOTW - Open World adventure
SMO - 3D Platformer
Pokemon SnS - JRPG
Pokemon Let's GO - JRPG
AC new horizons - Life sims
Splatoon 2 - TPS
SMP - Party game

Then Nintendo also has 3ds and WiiU catalog of exclusives.
