That was a long picture!

So how do you feel about Diablo 3 after its first year?
Over 2 million average players per day since launch is impressive. Some people on GAF make it seem like the game's down to 2000 players.
can't remember last time i played, was in june 2012 sometime, was definitely before paragon levels were introduced.
All of that without an offline mode.
The players have spoken: they don't really care.
If it wasn't for requiring a constant internet connection and the focus on RMAH I would probably play it more. Every time I play it I end up stopping for a month then try again.
Average # of hours played per day: 8.2 billion..
Sorry but that is *the* stupidest statistic I've ever read. How much time does the average people play per day. 6 hours? 10 hours? 14+ ? 8.2 billion is so useless.
I never take the statistics seriously of anything that stacks playtimes. If 1 million people play a game for an hour it does not equal 1 million hours of time. It's mindbogglingly pointless to even consider it statistically useful.
I agree. I haven't even made it past the first chapter. I just lose all interest. I think it's not so much the online requirement as it is the auction house. I don't want to spend time in there buying/selling items with real or fake money. I just want it to be all in-game. Which I guess it is but we all know they want you to use the AH so you get horrible shit most of the time. Just annoys me.It's a pity because, despite the dated graphics, D3 has perhaps the best sense of violent melee combat I've seen in an ARPG. The animations are appropriately gory and the sound effects decidedly "punchy". The ex-Iron Lore folks have stepped up their game in the latter category and combat in Grim Dawn is all the better for it, but, being in alpha, there are of course lessons to be taken from what is otherwise perhaps the most disappointing ARPG I've ever played.
extra salt in the wound is jay wilson basically admitting AH ruined the game after the fact, yeah.... great... thanks....jerk.
I have no idea what you are objecting to.
Average daily hours played is 8.2 million (not billion). On average 2.1M players play daily. Pretty simple math tells you the average person is playing 3.9 hours per day.
Of course, from what I have heard, the game is infested with bots. That's probably inflating the average play times a significant amount.
6% of characters. A lot of players create a bunch of characters for mules or for messing around and then pick one. 14.5m unique players and 4.3m characters have cleared inferno and I imagine people with 2+ inferno characters are in the minority.Wow, only 6% have cleared Inferno?
