We've now entered the ninth console generation, which means games as a medium are ready – at least on paper – to take another leap forward. That leap will hopefully represent improvements in a number of ways, and the most obvious and instantly apparent one will be on the visual and technical side of things.

We're still very early into the PS5 and Xbox Series X's lives, so it goes without saying that developers have barely scratched the surface of what will likely be possible on these consoles, but we've already been seeing some exciting improvements. Here, we're going to talk about a few examples that have stood out to us.
