15 for '15 | 15 huge PS4 console exclusives for the year ahead

The thing about this list is plenty of these games are coming in the first half of the year. As for big retail games only Uncharted 4 is announced for that slot. I wonder if there will be more retail games announced for holiday 2015. Maybe Ratchet and Clank is a holiday title. And no i am not in any way discounting downloadable only titles.

Once again, Sony forgot about holiday.
Gravity Rush 2 will save us. Persona 5 english also likely to be 2nd half title.

Even if you aren't traditionally into smaller indie titles, the games that are coming look pretty amazing and only small in budget. If No Man's Sky (alone) is able to live up to its promise then holy shit.

There are 3 bigger budget AAA titles there and the rest are smaller titles which I doubt many will be hitting retail shelves.

An interesting strategy of going for more smaller titles rather then going with less larger titles.

Though as generations prior have shown us its a hand full of AAA games that really make a difference these smaller titles make little impact.

As long as it's nicely polished, I'm looking forward to Final Fantasy VII too.

Despite the throw up taste still in my mouth I will likely buy this as well along with FFX HD.

By the end of 2015 I will be able to turn on my PS4 and play Disgaea, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Dragon Quest Heroes, Persona 5, And Ys. I like that thought.

Yep. I'll be buying both too. I know it's not the remake we all wanted but come on it's FF7 on your PS4!

I guess we're going to have to deal with these kinds of threads all year. And that list is not even complete.

Goal post have been moved people.

It's a stupid video/article for starters. There's no need to add "huge" and include PS4/PC games when they don't have to. Let the people decide on what's considered "huge". For example, Guilty Gear Xrd was my game of the year and it was a big game for fighting game fans. I know that doesn't apply a vast majority of the the gaming community.

Replacing those 5 PS4/PC games (especially the game that's already out) with PS4 only (like R&C or Disgaea 5) or games that are only on their platforms (like Persona 5) makes much more sense.

What's impressive is that this is far from being exhaustive... My 15 for 15' would be like :

1/ BloodBorne
2/ Uncharted 4
3/ Rime
4/ Persona 5
5/ Wild (wishful thinking there ^^)
6/ The Tomorrow Children
7/ Tearaway Unfolded
8/ No Man's Sky
9/ Disgaea 5
10/ Ys 8
11/ The Order 1886
12/ Ratchet & Clank
13/ Alienation
14/ Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
15/ Deep Down

Everything up until Ys are insta day-one buy for me >.< Waiting to hear and see more about the rest. There are others (Hotline Miami 2, Volume, The Forest, The Witness, ...), but I am probably going to play the PC version of those :-)

It is. In both the "huge" and the "exclusive" part.
What's important to a lot of people is that XB1 owners can't play these games. Acting like PC isn't a platform competitor in this space just because it isn't termed a 'console'(even though you can have console form factor PC's) is just plain convenience and we all know it. It's all about the PS4 vs XB1 list wars.

So poor sales is somehow a bullet point to shit on Tearaway, huh?

No. But you can't take a port of a game that probably didn't clear 100K in the States and claim it is a "huge exclusive".

I am excited to see the new PT Anderson movie Inherent Vice, but I'm not going to pretend that it is The Avengers.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
The Order: 1886
No Man's Sky

Games that really interest me. Not interested in anything else that was shown (at least not yet). Still a much better line-up than 2014 though. Happy to see this current gen becoming standard with things moving further away from the almost ten year old consoles.

damn, some of these motherfuckers are annoying as fuck lol.

anyways, great list. xbo and wii u has a nice share of exclusive games, too. 2015 is going to be a fantastic year for gamers. 2014 had some teething pain, but next-gen is going to hit its stride in 2015 if these games deliver as promised.

Well deserved ban for Tuco there. Dumping on the lineup for not being "tru xcloosives", port begging the games that aren't coming to PC, and dishing nothing but insults to any who pointed it out all in one go. Good grief, what a combo.

Anyway, weird that Ratchet & Clank isn't mentioned at all. I realize that there's no footage yet (behind schedule Insomniac?), but I think it would have at least been appropriate to mention. At least show some of the movie clips that were at E3. I mean, unlike a lot of those, R&C is an IP they own. Not to mention it could use promotion with a theatrical movie coming out 2015. Just seems kinda weird for it to be left out entirely. Hopefully we get some footage soon.

Pretty solid lineup regardless. Especially when there's a lot of titles that aren't being counted. Their Holiday lineup looks pretty bare outside Uncharted though. Maybe R&C will go there.

It's funny that usually these marketing terms and buzzwords are ridiculed and disliked but here's a case where it's being embraced and adopted.

That´s not the whole story though. The fact is that multiplatform is discounted in arguments, because people say that i can buy that game on PC, and that is no need for consoles, when the games are coming to PC. But a large number of gamers play and buy multi plats on consoles and buy consoles to to play these multi plats games on, and to some people here they don´t matter, because the game is on PC, and apparently everyone have mid to high range PC to play games on.

I'd say the only titles that are huge on a larger scale are Uncharted and Bloodborne, they are the kind of games people buy a PS4 for. Maybe The Order as well. But on an individual level, anything can be huge. Looking forward to Rime and Alienation myself.

I'm feeling that SotB is in the same boat as Wattam, Gravity Daze 2 and What Remains of Edith Finch.

Games that are announced too early.

Yes, I agree. It's one of my pet peeves when games are announced ridiculously far in advance. MS and Sony have both been pretty bad at this in the last couple of years.

Not a problem and not off the top of my head, no. It's just to me a lot of these games, at a glance (which, I know it seems silly to base an entire game off of), seem like bite-sized, free with PS+ after a few months, weekend long at most, indie affairs and nothing truly "meaty", at least for me.

Don't get me wrong, I like the PS4, but none of the games in this sizzle reel, minus the two I've listed before, made me stary eyed with excitement. And as I said before, the smaller indie darlings just isn't doing it for me like they used to.

I meant future state...like GOW, GT7, etc

.
Only 1/3 of the games they are touting as "huge" excusives are on PC, sounds like a lot to me.

Who is "they" that's touting these games as "huge" exclusives?

Sony merely released a video showing 15 upcoming console exclusives in 2015, to get PS4 owners excited. There's nothing wrong with that, and boo hoo that you have such a hard time dealing with it.

It's funny how the "console warrior" term is overused to death around GAF, yet the insecure people in this thread that are shitting it up aren't the console guys.

Why are you even in this thread?

So hyped for Bloodborne. Still a bit wary on No Man's Sky though, I don't wanna be dissapointed by the game if it ends up not being what I wanted.
I forgot The Order existed and I don't think I've ever cared less about a video game.

Looks a a good list to me.
I think 5 of those are AAA games too which is not too shabby (plus I think that they have at least one more AAA game up their sleeve for this year)

The real question for me though, is whether or not No Man's Sky will really release this year or not.

Also, I hope Rime comes to PC eventually because I am really jealous of that game! It's art style and storytelling reminds me a lot of Journey.

PC is a competitor in a space of gamers that would be interested in console exclusives. I know people say PC gamers like to throw PC into everything but fucks sake. I think the sheer fact of them specifying it as "console exclusive to PS4" is them acknowledging that the game exists on other platforms that aren't consoles.

Its obviously about them saying that these games arent on WiiU/XB1. It makes sense because there are millions and millions of gamers who only play consoles. Not aimed directly at you but I don't see why this is so hard to grasp and why people are twisting this into some slight against PC gaming or pretending it doesn't exist.

Their blog post touts these games as "huge exclusives", which people obviously take issue with since it implies a certain level of significance and/or widespread commercial appeal. Many of the titles are not that huge in scope, budget, manpower, commercial viability, etc.

If Double Fine's finishing the "nearly 80%" complete Day of the Tentacle Special Edition, I wonder if that's due later this year.

I get that, but PR is just gonna PR as usual. They are doing thier best to make people believe that Playstation 4 has a lot of great exclusives, same as Xbox and Nintendo PR is doing for their platforms.

If I were PR, I would have done the same, and probably could list just as many games for the Wii U or X1.

I think all us hardcore gamers know that there are a ton of great games coming to every platforms next year. Sony are just trying to position theirs as having the "Best", or "most' exclusives as early on as they can, and I don't see anything wrong with that. The list is already making me want one, I just have to keep reminding myself that I can't afford a third console just yet....maybe next Christmas.

Ah I see it now. I thought you guys were referring to the video.

Welp, whats not huge to you might be huge to someone else. By your definition No Man's Sky isn't huge, but I could see it being huge for some people. I know I'm as excited for it as I am some of the more established "big name" games.

I certainly don't agree with everything on that list being huge, but it's whatever. I'm just happy with how 2015 is shaping up.

Edit: I'd like to see a list of upcoming Wii U and X1 titles as well. Especially for the latter, which I'm very foggy on what's hitting this year outside of Halo and Tomb Raider.

The video uses the descriptor "15 Amazing Exclusives," which people would probably be far more likely to write off as just PR bluster because it's such a highly subjective term. The blog/thread title uses the term "huge" which has a more objective element to it that implies importance or popularity, so people will take objection. Almost any word besides "huge" would be less controversial even if it were more hyperbolic, strangely enough. "Incredible"...."mind-blowing"...."badass"....."stupendous".....all that would have slid under the radar.

This shouldn't have to be explained. It's just a list showing off games coming to PS4. The fact that it's being broken down and scrutinised is ridiculous.

"why does everyone like the games i don't like!"
