Hey what if Sony finally came with a 900 Mhz GPU and 1.8 GHZ CPU ? they remained strangely silent during the past few weeks from hardware perspective.
No! They play it save.
They already have the stronger hardware, so no need to mess around with it so lately.

cool, probably will make about as much difference as when I overclock my CPU on my desktop by 150 MHz

it doesn't do anything

So PS4 is now how much more powerful percentage wise? Ad what's the Tflops total of both the XO and PS4?

Hope the PS4 gets a bump too. Every little helps!

its creepy how this could lend some reality to what cboat or whoever said about a firmware speed boost on ps4 down the line

still remains that we dont know what it is though at the moment right?

C'mon seriously? That was not a shot - only you guys would think that. I was in a meeting on my phone, shot out a quick tweet. Srsly.

Sony haven't announced the CPU speed, as people have noted. Plus - when I take a pot-shot at the competition I'm gonna be way more obvious than that. I'm not a fan of the passive-aggressive.

As I'm sure you've figured out - you don't announce something like this at the same time you're working on it. Obviously this has been in the works, but now that we're in full production we felt OK about announcing it.

Devs should start seeing this soon - so any performance gains were happening on the 1.6 boxes. (everything at PAX was on the 1.6). This is a boost to developers on top of the optimizations going on.

Lastly - can I PLEASE finally get you over this "we're having production issues" thing that's going around? We increased the GPU 6%. We increased the CPU almost 10%. We have been showing retail boxes. We are now in full production.

If at this point these facts don't outweigh random rumors...
The man himself!

Thanks for the clarification Albert.

I was at PAX and got to play some of the demos. Really excited to get my X1. :)

My bad it just read that way. I'm a pretty big Xbox One fan lol. Day One. Glad to see everything is shaping up nicely. Care to to elaborate on these optimizations?

That's the exact specs I thought might happen before everything was set in stone but considering they've had the official GPU numbers out for a while and repeated often I doubt it'll change. More likely they'll focus on lowering the OS reserve on the CPU instead of upping clocks.

This shit is so confusing

I thought Major Nelson had an unboxing like a month ago of the first official production Xbox One unit? Or was that just fake too?

I don't what to believe anymore Elios lol
Then stop confusing yourself. Major Nelson NEVER stated the Xbox One he unboxed was an official Xbox One unit from production. Honestly, if you're confused by the sudden changes being made to a system that is still MONTHS away from release, maybe you should take a new approach when you hear gaming news, anything you hear regarding the Xbox One and it's changes isn't confirmed and can be changed at ANY moment, nothing is final till launch.

That's what I've been doing at least, after the 180 I've just been following that mindset, everything is subject to change, don't expect everything you hear announce to be finalized.

Xbox One is finally (or might have been in) in production? Nice. Just hurry up and announce the date so I know which days to take off, Albert. :p

They should have kept CPU clocks the same to boost the GPU clocks a bit more again.

Either way, any performance increase is good news.

Hey Albert, that's hardly disproving the issues rumor. The rumor is specifically around ESRAM, the GPU and CPU clock upticks are nice but is not complementary to it. ;-)

Good on you if you didnt intend that tweet as taking shots.
How can it be ahead if they've just finished tweaking and testing the hardware for final clock speeds? :p Behind a decision to change clock speeds there are tons of stress tests on prototype units.
What they sent to FCC back in June (or whenever they sent it) isn't even the final thing and should be revised.
Don't be fooled by PR ;)
I know .. ;-)

So if you should get outsold by the competition this year "supply constraints" will not be a valid excuse - did I understand that correctly?

This is extremely miniscule for anyone wondering.

We also still don't have final CPU/GPU numbers for PS4 so Sony might have upped something a little bit too to make it a nice even 2TFlops.

Also pretty hilarious compared to that other dude people were reporting on about 1.9ghz CPU.
150.

That 150Mhz boost is not too shabby.
Not all CPUS/GPUS are designed with OC in mind, for example Ivy and Sandy CPU's on PC handle OC easy, others run very hot even at a minimun OC, like Intel latest Haswells.

This thread is LOL to the extreme. Its like MS can't do anything right. Over flowing with
I've been noticing you quite a lot lately white-knighting Xbone in threads like these.

Did you even read any of the thread?

I don't see any salt going around--I see mostly people saying "good news". So next time try reading a little bit of the thread before you magically assume everyone is picking on little ol' Xbone.

I must admit I'm a bit ignorant of these sorts of things. I know I can easily over clock my PC, so does that mean this can be done via a bios patch post production?

I suppose the problem with this would be it assumes every console accesses the Internet for updates.

Still around 1.31 Tflops, CPU by itself is less than 20Gflops.
Pretty much this. All this move tells me is that they recognize that they have weak hardware and are doing their best to fix it. This is a good thing.

So going by the 1.9 thread math, 1.75 x256 bus = 448/2 = 224GB/s read/write ESram and 28gb/s move engines with the memory in sync with the CPU? (Just doing the math someone else can confirm how much rubbish I'm potentially talking)

The closer the gap altho still a fair bit, the better for the multiplats :)

Will this 150Mhz CPU boost increase result in increased heat? Not trying to troll, but my concern is that the Xbox One will suffer overheating like the 360. Should I stop worrying and learn to the love the xbone?

What clock speed do you think the eSRAM is running at?

As soon as Microsoft stops announcing new delays or changes or whatever, then the rest of us will stop being skeptical. Deal? I keep hoping you admit that yeah things have been confusing because you seem to keep taking this out on us gamers for refusing to believe what Microsoft PR - and yourself - is saying at face value, but then things keep changing and you say even you yourself was caught blindsighted at one point.

Do you not think skepticism is fair at this point?

Has Dean said anything about doing one for the 180? I would loooove to read that!
Sir .. we may have found some room on the GPU side of things ..

<Looks around, no Mattrick>

Clock it up, clock it up, clock it up

The one they announced at Hot chips? They could be yielding x chips at 800 or 853 and not y.

The gpu too. A 900-1000 Mhz clock on GCN is a cake walk but they're watching the thermals to avoid pumping out too much heat.
If it's really underclocked, I wonder if we can expect another oc with a firmware update in the future, like the one sony did with the psp.
Maybe another 100 mhz for both cpu and gpu.

Maybe Sony will do like they did with PSP and unlock more MHz.
This isn't a game of tit-for-tat, they really don't need to, certainly not as a reactionary measure, they will have their own program and at the moment they still have a fairly serious performance advantage over the Xbox One.

This is neat news for the Xbox One though, as it does put to bed a lot of the yield issue rumors, but from a performance perspective, it really isn't that much of a big deal.

Have you seen the size of the the thing lol, pretty sure there's MS execs whose nightmares are filled RROD 360's. They won't want a repeat.

eSRAM doesn't run hot. In fact, it runs comparatively cool. After all, only one line of the eSRAM can be active every clock cycle.
If I'm correct, any issue they are having with ESRAM is bad transistors beyond the amount of redundancy they have.

For all we know they've been testing it for a while... MS learned their lesson very hard this gen with the RROD. I don't think it will happen again.

After all, that's why the X1 is quite large. It has a really beefy cooling system that's also whisper quiet. That's why they were able to increase the GPU clock speed, and they apparently also felt confident in increasing the CPU clock speed now too.

Great news for my preorder. Nothing bad about getting a slightly better system!
It just seems weird that they bumped it the 53mHz a while back, and now they come out and say they're bumping it again, only 3 months away from releasing. Shouldn't they be in the full swing of production by now? Seems rushed.

Just so you know, yield issue rumours were never about the cpu or gpu but the Esram. I know they work in tandem, but just thought I'd get that out there.

You people at the Xbone team obviously have pretty sizeable production issues in not being able to produce enough units for this holiday season.

PR announcements of extremely tiny spec bumps that probably happened months ago are no reasonable measure of the Xbone's production situation.
