1UP.com: 14 Most Anticipated Fall Titles (+2)

Mirror's Edge - Yes
Little Big Planet - Fuck yes
Need for Speed: Undercover - This one actually looks like a decent NFS despite all the haters hating on it. But still most people should be cautiously optimistic with this at best.
Fable II - Looks pretty good
Resistance 2 - Fuck yes
Fallout 3 - Yes
The Last Remnant - Maybe
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm - Looks like a decent Naruto game that isn't a generic brawler
Tomb Raider: Underworld - Haven't played the demo yet
Prince of Persia - Fuck yes
Animal Crossing: City Folk - Don't like Animal Crossing
Left 4 Dead - Fuck yes
Gears of War 2 - Fuck yes
Wii Music - No for me
Far Cry 2 - Cautious
Midnight Club: Los Angeles - No for me

Seriously, is this gaf?

Where we constantly talk about sales and are constantly bitching about the relative success of games and consoles based on the sales figures?

Can anyone tell me anything, over this holiday period, that will sell more than what is on that list?

Are there anymore anticipated (not your personal favourite) games that people are looking for?

Seriously I would like to know...

They put in enough shit ones for GAF to link it in disgust, thus ensuring a couple of thousand extra hits. Mission accomplished.

I missed the reason why GH:WT and/or RB2 aren't on that list.
1) RB 2 is technically out.
2) For whatever reason, Wii Music is more anticipated than GH:WT, rofl.

Based on the opener, that doesn't seem to be the intention of the list. How would they measure that anyway? If I were to look at the preorders on Amazon, for example, the list would look different still.

Anyway, this is their intention:

" we put a much tighter focus on titles worthy of your attention"

Which suggests it's their pick of games worth your attention. Which leaves room for people to counter with games they think people should give their attention to that aren't on the list.

Anyways, I'm just glad LBP is there, in a "goes without saying" kind of way.

And keep in mind people that Sharkey has likely played these games and although he can't say definitively right now (because they're not final builds) He can probably tell what's shaping up to be fun and what's not.

That said NFS should probably be replaced with something...................................good?

I understand their intention, and I understand that there may be some leeway in the titles on the list in that one or two that may not be "some" peoples choice. But in terms of what most people will be buying this holiday season, this list is pretty on the money. I might have wanted saints Row on there myself but for people to say that 50% of the entries on that list shouldnt be there is a little naive.

List is not CRAP but lacks a few titles. And it lacks release dates ?
ahh, anyway sweet looking schedule for the next few weeks.
got 2 weeks off from work (finally) going to egypt this saturday, coming back just in time for dead space (i hope it's out on oct 21st in europe too, right ?) seven days of alien monsters and then it's far cry 2 and fallout 3 for me, which will keep me company till resistance 2 hits, LBP, then it's Pop, maybe TR:UW, Banjo, Gow2 and mirror's edge.
Oh, and left4dead.

Wow, i don't remember planning so many purchases in less than one month, ever.
That's like 600 € worth of software and no, i'm not the kind of person who can wait for prices to drop. Maybe i'll have my brother buy half of them and we'll swap.

i guess it's their "most anticipated," so it's up to them what they want to put on the list, but leaving off dead space is :(

Guitar Hero World Tour will sell more than most games on that list, and maybe all of them.

I'm surprised Dead Space didn't make the list. The buzz has been building on that pretty steady for the past month, I need to check out the comics and other story releases since I just preordered the game.

I'm not surprised Last Remnant made the list. Its not the greatest looking game but it is SEs first new major console IP since Kingdom Hearts. I hope it does well since I plan on getting it as well.

I think Valkyria Chronicles is destined to be ignored. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive but its such a niche title. I'm getting it regardless.

Is anyone really expecting Midnight Club LA to move a ton of copies? And I'm a huge RPG fan, but I didn't even think The Last Remnant was coming out this year.

It feels like the Wii games are up just to balance out the list somehow. Anticipating Wii Music or a seemingly slap-happy DS port up of Animal Crossing and then leaving off:

Persona 4
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts n Bolts
Dead Space
Rockband 2
Guitar Hero: World Tour

is just fucking stupid.

Needs more Dead Space, as mentioned before by other wonderfully correct posters blessed with good taste.

You'd be surprised, I've heard countless horror stories about people getting shit like NFS as their first game for a console.
There just has to be some backlash from Pro Street keeping back sales. Shit of that magnitude can't just be forgotten.
New owners may be optimistic about everything, but repeat purchasers of the series can't really want that game right now.

I simply don't understand the inclusion of Need for Speed Undercover. I mean, I would never list stuff like Animal Crossing or Wii Music, but I can understand why they would appear. NFSU, though? Everything we've seen on the game thus far suggests that it looks and runs worse than even Most Wanted on XBOX360. It's an ugly game that appears to be offering little in the way of new ideas.

You can't even call EA money hat on this one as there are other fantastic looking EA games that were NOT listed (Dead Space being the obvious one that everyone has pointed out).

4 player split screen,
20 player online races,
Monster trucks,
varied environments,
no more turbo cheat,
environment interaction (water cools engine etc)
Multiple routes
Improved graphics
Improved load times
And one of the most fun racing experiences you can have in your lounge room

why the fuck would we want that?

You forgot these:

Shitty racing mechanics
Most horrible soundtrack to grace a videogame ever

Yeah, why should we care about a sequel to a game that got very nice reviews, sold a million+ copies and set the standard for off-road arcade racing this gen?

GTA4 and Resistance 1 got great reviews too and we all know how that turned out.

Motorstorm would have sold 50k copies if PS3 owners actually had something decent to buy during that time.

Can't stand his bullshit Peter slander in the Fable 2 system. The fact is he's not been hyping the game like that at all and they're treating it like he's pulling the Fable PR again when he's obviously learned his lession.

it's just the caricature of molyneux the gaming press likes to fall back on. i agree with you that he's consciously and blatantly reined himself in with fable 2's prerelease hype, and been quite humble about it the whole way through.

No LittleBigPlanet....and NO WOTLK!? I'm pretty sure WOTLK will sell better than all these titles, except maybe Gears 2.

Yeah I just read that, maybe he has been watching videos from the Fable 1 PR because the biggest Molyneux hype I've heard is about the dog. Hardly going to break the game if the dog isn't quite as clever as he is claiming.

LBP and Mirror's Edge honarble mentions? WTF they should be first on the list you fucks. also no Dead Space, no Motorsom2, no Banjo? what a piece of shit list.

This is how it's suppose to be 1up.

Gears Of War 2
Resistance 2
LittleBigPlanet
Banjo
Prince Of Persia
Mirror's Edge
Left4Dead
Dead Space
Fable 2
Fallout 3
Far Cry 2
Midnight Club
Motorstorm 2
14- Your pick on what we have missed.

Not a bad list, but I probably would have cut that in half. If you're having to come up with 14 games to fill a list, then yeah, that's a pretty good one I guess.

Need for Speed: Undercover? REALLY?
Believe it or not, Undercover looks pretty awesome; it's Most Wanted 2 with next-gen bells and whistles, and a lot of people here liked Most Wanted. Just because it's a Need for Speed title doesn't mean it's automatically shit.

lulz @ Need for Speed being included.

Have you guys ever payed attention to the selling power of Need for Speed?
I know it has little appeal on GAF, but that shit sells gangbusters, and is definitely anticipated by a whole lot more people than you think.
It will most likely destroy alot/most of the other games on that list in sales.

I dont think anyone's disputing the games selling power.

It simply isn't on anyones "Oh shit, I really must have this" list.

If game sales = game anticipation, surely COD5, FIFA '09, WOW:WOTLK etc would also be on the list?

Personally, it screams marketing material.
