1UP SHOW - Street Fighter IV am here?

I'm not convinced by the graphical style of SFIV, it looks really goofy to me but the gameplay looks great and seems to be faithful to the series so I'm pretty excited about it.

I don´t know, I like how the game moves, I like the revenge meter and all but the art direction... I´m pretty sure that gameplay wise will rock but I need more time to get used to the art style.

Awesome, I think the expressions are great. Probably a little too much in the meat-head direction, but I like the exaggerated expressions

It still looks early though, I expect it'll look phenomenal once it's more polished

I think the art style of the initial trailer is what everyone wants. That said, I like it a lot.

Personally don't like the art style or the animation. While I wouldn't want it to be in the same style, VF5 looks much, much better than this. SF4 visually feels like something a generation ago. While it's early, I don't think they're going to start the graphics over from scratch either.

I'm sure we'll have a nice, long time between now and its eventual release. Capcom will make sure of that.

no you aren't... and it does surprisingly. It's actually what excited me the most.

Yeah, there's some weird contradictions in the piece. In my mind anyways. They introduce more systems to the game, but still want to be tailored to the casual crowd. More stuff to learn, but want to keep the gap between high level and casual level small. A ton of terms and such that people on this very forum claim is what make them stop playing fighters...but they're excited about this one. Weird.

We'll see how it pans out whenever it comes out.

Jiro: yes haters owned, this is pure SF!

However, this is looking BAD:

His face is so messed up looking. That guy looks more like a Ryu imitator than Ryu. The face is totally OFF.

you have an avvy from SF, so that really surprises me you don't know who this is...

Still haven't watched, the download is going with near dead speed.

The guys freaking out by what it looks like must remember it's Capcom we're talking about here, they won't let us down with this game. Go take a look on the final build vids of DMC4.

Don't mean to disagree with you, but hasn't it always been exaggerated? That's what I liked about it. Example: remember how Blanka's eyes pop out, when you hit him hard?

Let me see if I can find a pic.

Edit: not the best pic ever, but here:

Yeah, but people here will pick on it anyway

no youtube yet...?

c'mon GAF!
GAF values quality? If you have a crappy connection the iPod stream is very good on file size. YouTube doesn't do this game justice and 1UP needs the hits for moneyhats.

The problem with 3D characters, just like in the Naruto games, is that the mouth must be big due to facial expressions (it is very difficult to change the mouth size from small to big, so it tends to be big by default).

I think they just need to tweak the modeling a bit to get closer to the artwork, but nothing major.

Game looks great, STFU.

You've forgotten all about Capcom Fighting Jam already, haven't you?

no you are correct but I think with the true move into 3d people are forgetting how "cartoony" the style of the game has been, also how bulky ryu and ken have been in their 2d counterparts. I cant wait to see akuma:D

Seeing the video...THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING!

Looks a full 2D game in terms of gameplay, and almost also in the visuals.

The only thing I didn't like are the faces, when the camera is too near. The other things looks awesome if this is at a 2%.

And shows the copyright of Capcom USA in the logo LOL

Streams fine off the news story if you really need to see it asap.

I think the game is looking great - all the "oh noes it's EX" can end now, since it moves and apparently plays like SF proper.

Praised be the maker for not zipping the WMV! Productive behaviour like this must be encouraged!
*hugs*
*kisses*
*stares*
Well done!

I agree but it sounded pretty cool. Ii actually sound more hardcore than the parry system which was pretty straightforward but as the producer said casuals can only do some supers and it's fine while the pros can do some moe advanced stuff. So best of 2 worlds I guess.

that was a little blot in the river of gold... capcom currently is my favorite 3rd party, constantly serving up quality as of late. I don't feel that a single one of their current gen offerings have been weak attempts.

It looks like it has the most barebones animation right now that will deliver SF gameplay without any kinks. Hopefully they can flesh it out so it flows a lot smoother without affecting the gameplay

Capcom has certainly been doing well this gen.

I'm not liking the game graphically at all. It's early, I know, but I really just cannot "feel" it at this point. The style and design are just plain "meh" to me.

Gameplay wise, it looks like it's going in the right direction, but I'm not sold yet. It's going to take some time for me to get used to the changes.

I will say this much though, despite not being satisfied with what I'm seeing in Street Fighter IV, I still can at least appreciate the fact that we are getting a Street Fighter IV to begin with. Through the EGM article and this interview, it's apparent that there were several "entities" wanting to leave the series essentially for dead.

You mean like Alpha/Zero? I actually liked that style the most. It would have been cool to see those character designs instead, but you take what you get.

yeah I like the alpha art style too, but that had its place and time. im just saying this game could have been very anime looking, but im glad it has a different look and feel not only from other street fighters, but other games out there in general.

This game, first impression, does not look hot to me.

It DOES look like an updated EX game. It may play like classic Street Fighter, but you can't say this isn't exactly what an EX game would look like if it used today's hardware. Just based on this clip (and I know it's extremely early) I don't see this game getting any of those 'old' SFII players back in the arcades. Based on the visuals at least. It's decent, but nothing spectacular.

This did not blow me away like SFIII did when it was first shown. How smooth and colorful it was. This looks like EX. And it pains me to say that. Maybe it will be the best playing SF ever, though, and I'll eat my words. Here's hoping.
