1up Time Crisis 4 [PS3] Review.

Stumpokapow said:
IGN is 3.68 points above the critical aggregate for the Wii, 1.24 points above the critical average for 360, and 0.6 points above the critical average for the PS3. (By contrast, 1up is 7.09 points below the critical aggregate for the Wii, 1.65 points above the critical average for 360, and 1.1 points above the critical average for the PS3)

IGN reviews higher on average but 1up reviews higher for the PS3.

1up uses their range substantially more. The standard deviation in score 7.5% versus IGN which is 6.1% (applied to the PS3)

Is that 7 a typo?

What... the... hell... oO

Damn, that is a mega hit. But not that surprising. If this game was just $30 or something, I doubt they would have been so hard on it. But paying $90 for a mediocre game makes it that much worse.

After playing the game in the arcades, I can't help but agree. The gameplay really hasn't improved since the first game and the graphics (at least in the arcade) were awful. They looked like a PS2 game and I doubt they did much upgrading for the PS3 port.

$90 for the game is just an insult.

That´s a rather high score for a PS3 game coming from 1Up, should translate to about 7 in normal reviews.
Except for GS, they'll probably give it a 2.

Let's get this out of the way early.

Cry.
Bias.
1Up can't score.
Poorly written.
360 moneyhats.
x > y.
Lazy developers.
Power of Cell/BR both confirmed and denied.

Did I miss anything?

BTW: 3.5 :lol

Kind of low. The actual arcade game is the bees knees!

I can understand if the FPS bits are half assed bullshit, but if the original arcade game is ported accurately, then what's the issue, really ?

I propose a new scoring system that should make EVERYONE happy.

It's based on AD&D strength stat STR

So, scores are 3-18, and if yr 18 you get that weird number in parenthesis.

So all great games get 18, like mario galaxy would be 18(64) and mass effect would be 18(52), so when they fight Mario has the technical advantage but it wouldn't matter and it would be a draw.

Shitty games would get 8's 9's and even 10s, which are actually pretty horrible scores, but publishers would be like "damn, my game got a 10!" and put in on their cereal box.

On rare occasions a game could go above 18, by equipping downloadable content. However, if you equip CURSED HORSE ARMOR you could go down to 2!

edit: drake still gets a 17.

I guess this really reflects well on BH:UC, especially given the price difference. Do we know of any other game that would make use of GunCon3? BH5?

i have this game

its fine

its a light gun game

anyone in the right state of mine would know what theyre getting themselves into

LOL at 1up

It's a PS2-looking Light Gun Game without endless credits, a save system reminiscent of the stone age and a completely unfun additionnal mode that costs $90. LOL at you for thinking that 3.5 is not a fair score.

Edit: I sometimes think that 1Up are off with their reviews but in this one the 3.5 was completely justified by the text and the price. Except if you're a lightgun fanatic that is, but if you are you will buy TC4 no matter what 1Up scores it, this review is for everyone else.

woah there. Let's not get too angry about the

DON'T...do that!

The demons, they are coming back for me! Nooooooooo!!!

OT: wow at the score. I had NO expectations for this game whatsoever, so I was kinda curious. Didn't expect this though. Will a section of the 1up show be dedicated to this? :D

I'm assuming you want the guncon to come free with the game right.

Can't wait to see the scores for House of the Dead on wii.
The review sounds like it came from someonewho has never played a light gun game before.

Damn.. thats a pretty low score :\ It kinda suprises me over how much "faith" people put into some reviews tho. I mean, since <insert reviewer here> gives <insert game here> a score of <insert score here> it means that the game sux. I've seen people saying they wont by a game based on a review. Sure, i can understand that people wont buy a game at full retail price if they dont have too much money to use on games, but to say a game is bad just because of a review? What happend to own opinions? :/

From the review:

Namco should take this quote and put it right on the front of the box

lol, what do they mean with this? That it doesnt look realisticly because you dont see a gun like in FPS? :) After saying something like this it sounds like the reviewer hasnt played a single lightgun game in his/her life. But of course, people have different opinions about games, nothing wrong with that :)

Why wait that long when Medal of Honor Heroes 2 comes out this year and has both a FPS mode and an on-rails mode as well?

Uhhh... that's about what I'd score COD4's single-player campaign on veteran.
COD4 on veteran was easy for me. all you had to do was do what you are suppose too and get the checkpoint lol. although this shit was a grenade fest. all the npc's did was throw fucking grenades

TC4 is a horrid game in the arcades - didn't deserve a port.

A TC2 port with next gen graphics and extra levels would be far more appealing and no doubt score better.

so...this is one of those 'editorializing on the genre' reviews, and not a 'the lightgun doesn't work' review, or a 'crashes every five minutes' review, or really any sort of review that a time crisis fan needs to think about

As a person who has tried it, I'm not surprised. The visuals are terrible, the audio is terrible, and the gameplay is painful.

Wow... I was thinking about picking this up and playing with my dorm mates since they all enjoyed Ghost Squad, but at the price offered, nevermind.

So you prefer Perfect Dark Zero more than COD4?

To be fair, he said, "on veteran". Having tried it out on that difficulty myself, I'm inclined to agree. On normal it's a solid 8/10 though.

Yeah, that sounds enjoyable.
Or more like a 3.5.
