I don't want to hear about LittleBigPlanet on 1Up Yours ever again, so I'm hoping momentum crawls to a hault ASAP.
The game is great (contrary to what the beta had me believeing), but I agree. There really isn't much more that needs to be said at this point in time.TheGreatDave said:I don't want to hear about LittleBigPlanet on 1Up Yours ever again, so I'm hoping momentum crawls to a hault ASAP.

Meh, don't know if i'll download.
I hate it when that dude is the spotlight of the show, for being such a Sony fanboy. I mean i'm already reading some of the shit he said here, saying Motorstorm 2 is better than PGr4, that Halo 3 was overrated in defense of R2, ugh.
That's up there with some of the sony avatars walking around here.
What you're saying is basically only what Garnett was saying, basically that the "OMG Game of the Century, game-changer" hype has died down a bit. I think a lot of people did think it was going to "change the face of gaming" (whether that was insane or not, the sentiment was there, or maybe just the hope)stuburns said:Shane's defense of LBP was fair I think, Garnett was wrong. I don't think anyone actually thought the game was going to garner a massive place in the community and cause us all to make these incredible levels. It's hugely time consuming, with little to no reward. But people seem to be as pumped for it now as they were a month or so ago.
It tailors to a small niche, but I think it does it very well, and it's going to continue to do so. Anyone who thought it was going to change the face of gaming was insane. But I do think it's currently the best title on PS3. The MM levels really are incredible, and if it wasn't for unresponsive controls (which I'm sure are intentional) it would be a serious contender to my all time favorite platformers.
Maybe I mistook Garnett's comment. He said talk of the game seemed to have decreased, I'm saying I think it's just changed. People are still hyped about the game, just in a very different way. People expected more of the tools, I think. For them to be much quicker and easier to use. I thought it'd be like it is, but with crap premade levels, but the MM levels are amazing. I've just finished them all now (it took longer to unlock all the bonus ones than to finish the main ones) and they are incredible. But without a way of easily finding the best user made levels, I know I'm not going to be playing it in a month.GitarooMan said:What you're saying is basically only what Garnett was saying, basically that the "OMG Game of the Century, game-changer" hype has died down a bit. Anyway, starting off by charging 5 pounds for a t-shirt is going to help them.

Your life has to be pretty shitty to take the internet so seriously. Stop being such a cynic and lighten the fuck up.WrikaWrek said:So games journalism = shit confirmed?
What do you mean internet podcast? If it's a podcast on the internet then we are supposed to not take things seriously? Independently of who they feature?
I don't understand where you're trying to come from. But then again your "Lol @ Shane hate" says everything, because you really gotta be a certain type of person to defend that tool.

And keep your fucked up speculation about my life to yourself. Because you gotta be some brain dead walking corpse, if you divide things by black and white "It's on the internet, so it doesn't matter, let me laugh, lol lol lol".
Seriously, get a fucking brain.

What if Little Big Planet wasn't a Sony title? What if it was on 360, or multiplatform? I think you'd see a lot more adoption of the game and a LOT more participation and community, since that's what Xbox Live is good at.
Just look at the Forza 2 car creations.. I know this is ANATHEMA to PS3 fanbois, but it always struck me as seriously odd to have such a community-centric game on a platform that has failed so miserably at creating an online community.

stuburns said:I think Sony should have put at least the creation tools on PC. You could knock together a level in a quarter of the time on a PC.
Jack Scofield said:He says that? I remember back when Shawn was on the show, everyone but Shawn got a huge game boner when that game was mentioned. I wonder what happened? :lol

Akia said:I disagree completely. Sure playing TF2 casually in public matches is not as cooperative. But the cooperation that occurs in clan vs clan TF2 matches is a little nuts. There is definitely much more going on. The same people that would really get into coop with R2 would find much more depth playing TF2 in the same fashion.
Have you started a new blog yet? Not too kiss too much ass, but I miss hearing your opinions on whatever the latest games are.FartOfWar said:Ha, now I feel like Luke.

stuburns said:TF2 is completely cooperative multiplayer. You have to play with others to have even a decent chance. But I think Ellis was basing it on the semantics in R2. In both forms of MP in that game have cooperative elements, but only one is competitive. So they break it down to cooperative and competitive for ease.
The vast majority of multiplayer is cooperative.
Oh man, I never really thought about it like that before, but I think you are mostly right.SonOfABeep said:This isn't going to end well, but..

Eh, to be fair he did pimp Burnout Paradise quite a bit (although he also likes to use it as a crutch in the multiplatform superiority debates). But if was 360 exclusive, forget it.lawblob said:And seriously, does anyone really think he would give two shits worth of time to Motorstorm if it wasn't PS3 exclusive? Give me a break. I love my PS3 as much as the next guy, but Shane continues to remind me of a self-conscious parent who won't stop over-compensating for their kid's weight problem.
He did say something like "TF2 isn't cooperative", but I think he meant not cooperative in the most common sense, i.e. with level progression, against AI enemies etc.FartOfWar said:Exactly. This is why I assumed someone here had misrepresented an opinion on the podcast.

EDIT: It was funny when Shane was orgasming over Motorstorm 2 being the racing game of the year how quickly he forgot about Burnout though.
purnoman3000 said:Forget Barack Obama, we need John Davidson for President. He tears Wii Music a new asshole, then steps inside, closes the door and fucks that asshole up from the inside. Glorious. He's relentless and beautiful. From his description it seems so bad it's gone beyond non-game into a whole new genre of no game.
lawblob said:Thats true, I guess he is a big racing fan. But in general, though, the level of phony exaggeration that he feels he needs to slap onto any PS3 exclusive is totally overbearing.
Maybe Resistance 2 is a better example of this. If Resistance 2 was a 360 title, he wouldn't even play it.
bistromathics said:I'm not hating on anybody here, but listening to the Resistance 2 talk in this week's episode really makes me appreciate the kind of discussion that went on in the GFW radio critiques. Garnett and David Ellis (I think it was him) made their points that the game had problems, but they did a very poor job of articulating what those problems were.
Simply saying the levels are bland or the encounters are unbalanced or the layouts are bad does not convey anything to me except that you don't like this game (or at least certain aspects of it). Maybe that's what most listeners want, I don't know...but I typically listen to gaming podcasts to hear the different perspectives that are out there. Starting neutral on most things, I like weighing the arguments people make until I can decide whether I agree with them or not.
I still think 1up Yours is rad, but this week's ep was a little below average ;_;
Kintaro said:That's a good question. I would hazard a guess and say no, I don't think so. At least if it was released at the same point it was this year. That's too, too many big, big established games coming out at this time (adding in platform exclusives) so LBP would suffer a bit either way. It would just be much more noticeable since it was released on everything.
It would behoove Sony to relaunch LBP again in March or something to put attention back on the title. Not to mention bring those Dual Shock 3/LBP packages to the US.

Especially since it is on steam. and guys, PC Gaming is alive, you are too dead to see it. Che Chou was a hardcore console gamer, gave PDZ a 10, and now....he LOVES Crysis and Crysis Warhead.DubloSeven said:Did I hear John say Crysis Warhead was a disaster?
I'm pretty sure that Crytek have said they're happy with the sales of Warhead.
