1UP's Burnout Paradise review: PS3 edition sports a slight visual edge

Because the blood flow in your fingers doesn't stop from pushing the triggers hard for so much time.

Are you for real?
What he said is actually true, and that's (arguably, haha) much more important than whether triggers are convex or concave or whatever, IMO. Wider + softer triggers = less finger cramping. And that's actually important when you have to keep it pressed ALL the time in the game, which is the case in racing, but not so much in FPS for example.

i like ps3's wide triggers for the same reason, though they ought to be concave. extended racing sessions with dreamcast- or xbox-style triggers kill my hands

I'm really trying hard not to quote your tag here.

I honestly couldn't tell any real differences in the two versions of the demo, so I was going to go with the PS3 version (coin toss, really), but no custom soundtrack means 360 gets the love this time. I really don't care for the majority of songs on the track list, and I want to listen to my version of asskicking driving music:

I do love my free PS3 online!

But he didn't mention achievement for the 360 version. Maybe because it doesn't need saying anymore.

Anyway, I wonder if the PS3 has some sort of achievement /medal/trophy system as well.

It does which is why it wasn't mentioned as an advantage.

He is right, you don't have to be a genius to know that the Xbox triggers become very uncomfortable if you press them for a long time.

arguably superior controller triggers,

Wow. For a moment i thought i was the only one in the world!
Love the feel of the Sixaxis "triggers". They feel smooth and precise. Also my skin must be magical 'cause i never lose grip.

They should start making actual firearms with backwards triggers for people like you.

I did a 3.000m drift with the 360 controller and i can still put my pants on without my mother's help.

The one and only time I lost grip was when a greasy friend of mine used the controller (and it had become very oily) so I've categorized this rumor as internet FUD.

I like the ps3 riggers btter than the 360s triggers. The ps3 triggers have actual weight and feed back. I know exactly how far I have them pushed at all times.

Me too. When my fingers start slipping, I know I'm midway. :P

I actually prefer the triggers on the Dual Shock 3 over the 360's triggers. Sorry. Apparently that makes me crazy.

5thed. And it's not you, for whatever reason, the tards have been extra sensitive ever since the Warner announcement.

Those "triggers" on controllers aren't like firearms'. Even triggers on the 360 aren't "clicking" like real ones. It's only a button reminding the shape of a trigger that's it. But it's GAF so i supposed i should except stupid comments like yours there.

As much as I like Shane on 1upyours I dont trust him as far as I could throw him when it comes to a review like this on both platforms.

The dudes blatant fanboyism goes way too fucking far sometimes.

I swear you guys act like you all have hands like this.

:lol

either that or you might need to go get checked for cerebral palsy. :(

So, besides the trigger comment, what else does this review do towards helping people decide whether or not to get this game? Sounds to me like Burnout is a flawed game that reviewers really like.

I think the comparisons with gun triggers don't make much sense. The "triggers" on these gamepads are often/mostly used for analog input after all, not for "trigger"ing something.

That is like saying the 360 D-Pad is arguably superior to the PS3 D-Pad. You can argue it all day, but nobody who has actually used the two and is thinking with a clear head would say that.
There's no way to argue that, however.

The 360 D-Pad is arguably the worst D-Pad ever made...that is arguable.

Congrats to you. I could not care less if you prefer the DS3 triggers. My comment had to do with this:

IMO Burnout is so fun that the reviewers ignore the flaws and I agree because they should rate the game as a whole and not each feature on its own.

What I love most about this thread, is seeing people who would easily dismiss any 1UP review, embrace this one with no hesitation.

WTF does that have to do with anything? The only "tard" that I see here is you when it comes to comments like like that.

Sensationalist bullshit aside, looks like a good review. I might pick this up later.

Isn't that always the case?

I do not think its that as so much hearing the 360 fanboys scream "SUPERIOR VERSION!" for the same amount useless stuff.

Bullshit, 1up still is a joke. Most people are arguing about the triggers not the credibility of the review.

Now this is conveniently applied logic.

It's like people have really convinced themselves that the opposite isn't also true.

I think this one page review is like a lot of 1Up reviews - light on content with a score that many are willing to argue over. A lot of people either own a 360 or a PS3 but not both. They don't have a choice about what controller they use so I think the whole argument is for the hardcore here at GAF and not the majority of gamers out there. But I do think this review falls in line with a lot of the other reviews in that it emphasizes that BP is innovative but flawed and it will have legs if it thrives online.

?

Well, it doesn't get any more foolish than stating as fact, that one's own personal preferences are the only valid preferences and should be adopted by the rest of the world.

Double standards and selective memory loss rule GAF.

Wow Shane likes the PS3 version better - Megaton! /sarcasam

Honestly, I would be surprised if Shane even played the 360 version...

I still can't believe this got a 9.

It's the first PS3 title in ages (on 1up) to get a 9.

I wonder what Shane would have given Uncharted?
:D
