List removed due in aim to get back on topic :D

The year of the countless comparisons

Christ that is the one low point :lol

But hopefully people will tire (who am I kidding) and we can enjoy a year of peace, harmoney and love of gaming :lol

Between my PS3 and my PC, I'm pretty much covered. Prototype, hopefully that damned Mirror's Edge game, although that reeks of 2009... but yeah, good multiplatform times for sure.

The more multiplatform games, the more each of my systems devalues in worth (to me)

If you own both systems I see your point,
but the more people able to play the games the better yeah?

from the year of everyones a winner I have no seen the light

Fanboys will find a way,

the year of bitching & comparison threads is a go.

For shits and giggles I might update the op with all the multiplat releases and then all the GAF comparison, which version to get and which is better threads too

Some of these decisions are real hard...seriously!

SEGA Rally Revo...better wheel on the PS3, but 360 has custom soundtrack support and I ripped my Saturn audio to my PC. Played the demo on the 360 with SEGA Rally music and I was in heaven. But I know that the DFP will be better to play the game with. I really don't know what to do here. If I got one version, I know I wish I had the other version.

Back in the day, comparisons were never really an issue. It's a shame that the current systems are so damn close, every single thread on a multiplat game is down to comparisons and bu-bu-bu which version to buy? Such a waste of time.

Regardless of the number of multiplatform games there will still still be a hefty number of exclusives for all platforms.

If the fanboys aren't kept busy with those then they might find their way into other threads... BE THANKFUL!

yeah I agree but it seems to be weighted to multiplatform this year and fewer exclusives.

Hopefully more than ever single platform owners will be all able to enjoy playing the same games this year.

I think Fallout 3 might be my most anticipated game of 08 (no, haven't played a Fallout game, I just really really like Oblivion and from what I've heard of Fallout 'world' it's really my kind of thing).

As far as other multiplatform games go: Burnout Paradise is a sure bet, with FarCry, L4D, Borderlands and Prototype as very hopeful.
Left 4 Dead is going to be fps multiplayer game of the year. I really want Protope to be good so it can fill the yearly Crackdown void. Borderlands sounds cool from the GFW preview and I hope Farcry is a good console port.

Regardless of what console you own this year, you aren't in a position to complain. Well, maybe Wii owners, don't know how the situation is there (since I don't follow any news for it).

Actually, I think that the exlcusives are going to be the real draws during '08. Apart from DMC4 and GTA4, I don't see any other multiplatform titles comparing to the level of quality we will (hopefully) be seeing from exclusives. Alan Wake, Resistance 2, KillZone, Halo Wars, etc.

Nope. The company with the best infrastructure now regarding "the user experience" will play a significant role in who "wins".

eg.

Burnout Paradise

I'm still wembling over which system to buy it for.

I have a PS3 and the camera.

I have a 360 with no camera.

Even though it will cost me more money to go the 360 route because I'll need to buy a camera (more like, WANT to buy a camera...
Even though the PS3 version is reputed to be the slightly, sorta, somewhat better of the two...

My experiences with XBL have been far more pleasant than my PSN experiences...plus...no achievements on the PS3 version.

So...I'm patiently waiting for more info on the game before I make my final decision. The lack of exclusives on the 360 and the PS3 is going to force Sony and MS into getting their shit wired tighter.

I wish half those games on the list was exclusive to 360 and the other half exclusive to PS3. Im sure atleast the graphics would be slightly improved in every game. Thats just an assumption though.

Yeah, and I picked up a 360 recently, so I get to pick whichever version is the best now.
Of course that makes decisions really tough for certain games. (I'm thinking PS3 Burnout and DMC4, but I don't know).

I feel the same way really.

I still would like to play Mass Effect though but I'll just hold out to see if it hits PC in an improved port.

I hate multiplatform games. 99% of the time, they don't give a shit about a system's specifics. Exclusive games always look and play way better. That said, it's also nice to be able to play games without spending a shit ton of money in buying all systems.

Just wait for that inevitable PS3 release that has been rumored. :lol

in a world with multiple systems, it's as close to everyone being a "winner" as is possible, i guess.

It's easy to be a winner when you own every system. Maybe this will be the year I finally get a PSP.

What? even these?

Alone in the Dark 5
Battlefield: Bad Company
Bionic Commando
Borderlands
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Brutal Legend
Burnout Paradise
Devil May Cry 4
Fallout 3
Grand Theft Auto IV
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Prototype
Resident Evil 5
Silent Hill 5
Soul Calibur IV
Street Fighter HD
Street Fighter IV
Tomb Raider: Underworld
Turok
Unreal Tournament 3

Also We will get a lot of people with low standards posting " i think its runs just fine on my system and thats jsut fine i like being ignorant" when in reality we should be posting " this version should run just as well as the other version"

yes i am thinking of CoD4, and Assy crud. I prefer to buy games on my ps3 due the dependibility fo the console but I have been dissapointed in almost ever multiplatform release so far. There should be no excuse for inferior ports and we multiplatform gamers should be made aware of the differences between the versions.
