2010 FIFA World Cup - Demo out now

Loved the demo, it looks like the game speed is a lot faster. Graphics are a bit better, and I loooooove the atmosphere :D.

Day one! Making The Netherlands the world cup winners just like in real life!

was never gonna buy this but grabbed the demo anyway.

The modes sound awesome, shame I can't seem to appreciate the gameplay.

I can tell there's loads of depth and quality there, I just can't unearth it. It won't let me play football the way I do in real life. I played a lot of FIFA 10 as well and I kinda learnt how to play the game, but I never got to the stage where it feels natural.

Went back to PES and it feels like second nature. still the biggest difference for me. FIFA has it all, the moves, the licenses, and it technically seems superior, and there's so much thats shit about PES, but I just can't translate the beautiful game into FIFA.

I think thats why PES is still so popular amongst pros, they don't need to learn the game, anyone who knows football can play PES once they have the basics down.

Maybe the difference is FIFA recreates what we see on TV and PES recreates how it feels to actually play.

Well, none of the games recreates how it feels to play, it's just that you're more used to play PES.

After a year of playing a FIFA game for the first time since 96, I just can't go back to PES anymore, not even to the best games (PES 5 imo), now it feels like the game is totally broken for me.

Goddamn the animations for this game. Every since FIFA09 the shooting and crossing animations range from great to disgraceful, and this game is no different. How FIFA08 and UEFA Euro 2008 have amazing shooting and crossing animations and then there's crap like this in the latest games is amazing to me.

Anyway, the game is brilliant. Feels really good. I just played a bit of PES 2010 for comparison's sake and holy shit. The players feel so locked in PES, it's like they keep being constrained by invisible lines whenever you pass. I know all about super cancel, it doesn't make any sense.
Why do I have to cancel whatever the players designed to do in order for him to get to a ball?

Tried a bit of 09 yesterday and the game feels completely obsolete, which is baffling considering how good the game was. EA have really done an amazing job this generation. Kudos to Rutter and Paterson.

Indeed. Playing PES or FIFA is absolutely nothing like playing real football :lol

Am I the only one who still plays Fifa 10 on the 360 religiously? I'd like to play with some people who are willing to play the game with actual tactical play (i.e. not picking Barcelona and just running up and down the field with Ibra) and don't mind picking teams other than 4 1/2 - 5 stars. If anyone is up for a couple of matches tonight, I'll be on after 10pm EST. Send me a PM here with your gamertag and I'll add you.

At least FIFA manage to get a lot of the tactical nature of football. It just fails because of the AI.

And PES doesn't recreate how it feels to play football, are you kidding? Unless you are talking in playing football with friends, because it's nowhere what real football feels like.

Feel free to add me. I'm on sporadically, and I'm GMT+2, but I'd love to kick your ass sometime. :D GT: Tf53

really enjoyed the demo so far. the music and the stadium atmosphere is awesome. but i hate it how often they are showing the coaches. who caaares?
Yet again, Bla feigns interest in the game only to say it's shit and not worthy of being called a football game in a few months. :lol

I'll try the demo, but will never buy this. They should have had a $15 squad update or something for FIFA10.

$15 for a squad pack!? WHAT!? Fuck Activision!!! Fuck Kotick!!! Whoever would buy that should spend life in prison!

On a serious note, are they going to or have the ever included an indoor soccer level like in '98 (I think)?

Something feels off about this game. I really enjoyed the FIFA 10 demo and thought they had finally surpassed PES but this demo just feels off. I can't get any through passes off like I could in the FIFA 10 demo.

So can somebody clear this for me up cuz iv been doing some reading.
So u get to either choose to compete in the worldcup with the teams that are qualified or u hace the chanse to choose one of the 199 country;s go through qualifying and than go to the worldcup..?
cuz if thats the case im def getting this cuz morocco dident make it to the worldcup lol, i also wish u can download your virtual pro from fifa 10

Yeah, you can take any of the 198 teams to the final.

(Yes, 198, France no longer exist as a football team after what henry did to ireland)

Dude thats awesome, and i read on the ea forums that the community manager said they are all licensed teams so it will include the kits etc, and not just those lame ass shirts with only the country's flag on it.
i just dont understand why they cant include this in fifa 2011 as well, i dont mean the worldcup but all country;s instead of just a few

They dont have the proper jerseys in fifa 10? I am pretty sure they do. Well they do for spain atleast. They even put up the new one to download a few months back.

I assume they don't put 198 teams into fifa 10 because of space. They already have all those clubs to be concerned with. I'd rather get new models for players than have 100 teams id never play against.

God dammit, EA fix Bojan :)

I am 2 for 2 saving penaltys. Have not got one yet. But I kinda like the new diving system. Is so much easier to give away penaltys now too :(

Oh good. FIFA used to have an awesome penalty system back in the ps2 days. Then for whatever reason they stole PES's terrible and boring system.

After playing through the demo a couple of times, I have come to realize that I am absolutely terrible at soccer games. Even though I won every match, the majority of my goals were based completely on luck. :lol

By the way, the confetti on the field looks terrible. I hope there is an option to remove it in the full game.

ISS for N64 had the best penalties.

It had the necessary precision, made a good show of the high stakes and had the perfect setup for mindgames.

Lots more divers, just like the real world cup. Makes it realistic

Well i dont know where you guys are from but in Australia the game is $80, so is really almost budget, considering games usually cost $110-$120 here. So its a great price. Cant wait!

What kind of crazy moon language is this?

This man knows.

Having played it some more I'm pretty much sold on this. The core gameplay is definitely superior to Fifa 10 and there are a lot less unrealisitc occurrences too.

Edit: Oh, but EA need to fix sliding tackles. It's virtually impossible to come round the side and slide the ball away or block a shot without giving away a foul/pen even when controlling a good defender.

When I get older I will be stronger

So is it just Spain and Italy in the demo?

Spain is too good for the Italians, 3-0 win in first game.

Someone has the game over on the official forums

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/...game-viva-honduras-will-answer-questions.html

The thread is now at 15 pages and no one has asked a question about gameplay. It's team kits and graphics only. That's what matters in a football game apparently.
:lol welcome to the official FIFA forums. Sometimes I think this is why designers laugh off fan suggestions, because 95% of the ones they're getting on the official forums are "MY TEAM'S SHOELACES ARE MESSED UP MATE WHN YOU GONNA GET THE KITS RITE?" Morons.

edit: I sold some games and picked this up btw. Have a few friends getting it so why not.

The lad who has the game said in post #464

"I can not believe there aren't any gameplay question, I am at my job by I have some time to answer GAMEPLAY QUESTIONS"

:lol

I haven't bought a football game for a long time but World Cup Fever has kicked in and the demo sold me. I can't wait.

You just dissed the entire PES fanbase, as well. I hope you're happy.

The good thing about PES though is that they have all those custom option files, so people can bitch to the filemakers rather than the company (not that is stops them, but still). I really do feel sadly that the majority of football game fans feel that an extra stripe on a sock is more important to remedy than a broken or problematic gameplay element.

Still unsure if I'm going to pick this up. I missed out on the PAX deal which would have been ~$40, and I'm not sure how much the new game modes appeal to me. Demo handles pretty well, though.

I assume EA rated the USA higher than Spain. Torres ain't got nothing on Landy Cakes.

I'm so jacked about the World Cup I could buy a PS3 and this game on a whim :lol

Torres ain't even got shit on El Guaje!

My copy shipped out last week from EA. Will have it tomorrow.

IGN UK: The manager's that patrol the touchline in-game are a cute feature at first but they're overused and too frequently the action's broken up so we can see a close-up cutscene of Fabio Capello sniffing his fingers. The dirty boy.
:lol

May I ask, isn't this game basically FIFA10? Thats what i was getting from it. If so, why would there be gameplay questions?

It is supposed to be largely like FIFA 10. Then again, less inquiring minds could have said the same thing about Euro 08 and FIFA even though that was only superficially the case.

I'm hyped for this game, world fever has hit me early. The biggest selling point for me is the ability to play the world cup online, so it's not just single match friendlies again and again and again... :D

Got my copy today (connected, bitches!) and played some scenarios. Still need way more time to see how it compares to FIFA, but the ball physics seem a bit bouncier. The new penalties are veerrry niiiiice.

Does it have all the Nike kits?!?!?!?

69.99 cdn for this is pretty steep. Debating purchase. Someone better post some impressions soon. I hope they got rid of the Jaggies and stuttering in the ps3 version.

I think there's a problem with Nepal's away kit. It should be #36ef99, but it's #33ff88! I'm thinking of burning the manual in protest and sending a video of it to EA.
